owners, most of them are former renters and are very tensetive to tenants rights. i'm for passing of proposition g on this ballot which puts a real estate property tax on people flipping properties within five years to curb ellis act evictions. and ellis act evictions do dishouse a lot of the longer-term residents of the city, especially seniors. and also the extension of rent control to properties built after 1979. and to make this a more equitable place for long-term residents and make it secure for them. also i'm for the neighborhood control of planning.

for example, a couple years ago we had the 8 washington project which would have blocked off the high raise much of telegraph hill. this is a project that was opposed by the telegraph hill dweller, the supervisor of the neighborhood, the neighborhood residents. this is -- this is something we're seeing more and more of. we're seeing the wilshire boulevardization of the upper market district in our own neighborhood and these are issues that are really not being done with neighborhood impact. there's been some trending away from environmental reviews which we definitely need to have more input from the neighborhoods on these projects. i don't really believe in long speeches, so, for those that are looking for further details in my campaign, including a

long-time residents a along with a great diversity. my life partner, mike merigan and i have been representers since 1996. we fear that the tech boom jeopardizes our housing security and the housing security of too many of our friends and neighbors. as a candidate for district 8, i support the following platforms. let's expand rent control to all housing built after 1978. let's require developers to rent at least 30% of units in new buildings at below market rate that are truly affordable to low and moderate income folks. i want to increase funding for community land trusts to create and maintain affordable housing. at city hall we must establish a monthly question time by

ordinary citizens of our board of supervisors and we must require them to provide answers to us. we must strengthen public records access at all city agencies and the sunshine ordinance task force must be given more power. i want to require ali electricitied official and the head of city departments to post their calendars, name of whom they met with, ~ and topics discussed at their meetings along with expense reports all on their city funded websites. we need to better know how our elected officials spend their workdays and with whom they meet with. we also have to reclaim public plazas and all of our public spaces including the sidewalks from corporations and their advertising and also from private business associations

so that all citizens have equal access to public space. i want to have every nonprofit that receives city funds on an annual basis audited, especially the hiv and aids groups. i think we must set individual performance goals for each nonprofit. we also have to end the tax exemptions for the profitable tech companies that are raking in millions and millions of dollars. they must pay their fair share. i also want to charge google and all the tech companies that have buses on our streets at least $5,000 for each bus that daily uses our city infrastructure. we also must reduce the number of muni stops they may use. i'd like to develop social programs for lgbt seniors to

keep them engaged in civic functions. now is also the time to reopen gay bath houses and restore sexual privacy. we also need public bath houses in the day times for homeless people to take a shower, maintain good hygiene, wash their clothes, and also rest. i want to allow voters on election day to cast ballots for none of the above in every election. please remember, a vote for me is a protest against td gentrification evictions that tech and real estate developers greed. together, let's reclaim district 8 and san francisco for all people, not just the wealthy. again, please vote for me this election. act up, fight back, love life. thank you. ♪

particularly our housing affordability crisis. housing is too expensive in our city. we have toomey vixes. we have to make sure that ware meeting the housing need of our residents. ~ too many evictions i have been a strong advocate of investing in affordable housing. i was one who put together and persuaded voters to pass trust fund which would generate $1.5 billion for affordable housing in san francisco. i have been the leader in trying to approach housing in san francisco differently than we have in the past because what we've been doing for decades in san francisco hasn't worked. we haven't produced enough housing and we have created a situation where the average rent is over $3,000 a month. i authored legislation to allow people in the castro area to add in-law units into their buildings because in-law units are the most affordable type of nonsubsidized housing. i authored legislation to provide developer with incentive to build required affordable housing on-site as

part of mixed income developments and to build more than the required minimum. i authored legislation to allow for smaller studios so that we're building both large units as well as small units and everything in between. i have worked very hard to put more flexibility into our housing policy so that we can meet the need of our residents. i've also been a leader in transportation in san francisco. i have been the leading voice in city hall to make sure that we stop neglecting muni and our other transportation systems and that we invest in those systems, that we make sure they're reliable, that we're maintaining the systems and that we're growing the capacity of transmore thaition in san francisco to meet the needs of our growing city. ~ transportation i have fought very, very hard to protect public transportation funding and to stop the raids on those funding which has been a key cause of the decline of muni and our transit system in general. i have also fought very hard to

make sure that we rebuild our police department which is severely under staffed due to years of not having police academy classes in san francisco. i have fought to make sure that we are funding police academy classes, that we are regrowing our department. and as we regrow our department, we will be able to have more beat officer walking our streets, keeping our communities safe. we'll be able to have more traffic enforcement so that we have safer street. i will continue to make sure that public safety is a top priority. i have also worked very hard to represent the needs of our lgbt community, district 8 has the largest lgbt community in san francisco. and i have worked with our community to make sure the needs of lgbt people are being met. i authored legislation to move forward l, policies that will help grow our lgbt senior population, and we continue to work hard to meet the need of

our lgbt seniors. i obtained funding to build more housing in upper market for lgbt youth, particularly at-risk youth to make sure that kids have a chance to succeed. and i also every year work hard to protect hiv services and when we received cuts from the federal government for hiv services, i helped lead the way to make sure we backfill every penny of those cuts in our local budget. finally, i have worked hard with the community to make sure we improve our public spaces in san francisco. we worked hard together to move dolores park into a long overdue renovation. we've renovated glen canyon and other parks in our district. i authored the legislation to save the noe valley farmer market by acquiring that site and i obtained the funding to double the width of the castro street sidewalk. it has been a deep honor to represent district 8 at the
