think a lot of people don't know about ken wood on the water front. dars and ken wood operated the aquarium for three years. ken wood camen and were great operators of the aquarium. it was a pleasure to work with them. one of the best operators to work with. i will say once again being president of fisherman's what wharf, they were great and loud me to do a lot of community work and this is a community and we are very close and tight and together this group makes a good team. i'm looking forward to supporting this -- and watching the project. thank you.

220 contacts from artist over the years that we have been here. this city has always shown a great appreciation for music and high standard for entertainment. there is a huge capacity and appetite to being exposed to new cultures with this modern theatre. when i played the character of the did va, did va, audiences and where can you go to feel the wind of the trapeze artist on your face while you are having dinner. it is amazing to watch people in the audience as they begin to realize they were not just observing a show, they were actually part of it. and being connected to part of the north beach italian community, broadway and embarcadero is perfect for as one lady from there i spoke to

on there said -- the nature of san francisco is very important. tourist and locals expect san francisco to have permanent theatrical venues that fit our unique diverse population and pz is ahead of it's time. both of my children feel welcomed and loved backstage among the wait staff and administration. as a movr -- mother i have to say that is a joy when i have to juggle career and family. i absolutely love san francisco and all the wonderful performing opportunities here but it is teatro zinzanni that allowed me to grow as an artist. we must have a permanent place

for 15 years. i saw the maritime grow and the difference in 50 years is unbelievable. we have built our water front for tourist. the tourism is amazing in seattle and willie mentioned that you have a fine brand new cruise terminal, well we have one too and it's just as good if not better. i appreciate the fact that he spent time to go down there and make it work. that's what i did. i made time with the port of seattle commissioners and officials that went to new york, went to many many places to get those cruise ships in seattle and it paid off. we have many people that come to seattle as tourist and travel
2:09 pm
to and from their destinations by these cruise ship. they spent a lot of money. the economy in seattle is unbelievable what those cruise ships bring. they also look for a stay for a night or two before their cruise or want to stay a night or two after their cruise and a great center for entertainment. a great experience the teatro zinzanni. i was a paying customer at teatro zinzanni for many times. that's why i had to work on the water front for many years. i want to say what a perfect place to send your tourist that visit your cruise terminal but with
2:10 pm
teatro zinzanni, it would be a great place to go. that's most of the reason i came down here. i enjoyed it very much and like the lady said about the entertainers, they are fantastic. the entire experience is unbelievable. you have to excuse my voice. sorry. anyhow, i just want to let you know that i traveled all the way down here from seattle, i don't do that for anybody, but i will for this place. this is the best thing going. i cannot believe that anybody would think of not having it here. think about it, that's all i have to say. think about it. roses, a non-profit organization serves eight counties in the bay area including san francisco where we do 600 shows a year for audiences who cannot go out themselves to hear wonderful music. what we found through teatro zinzanni was an incredible partner with our ability to raise funds to serve our community. the truth is there are many other charities in the bay area who likewise found teatro to be a fabulous partner. each year at the teatro zinzanni donated to the shelters and xrt san francisco chamber of commerce and teatro specifically helps
2:12 pm
local charities raise $2 million for this community. some of the organizations they work with bids bread and roses was the san francisco symphony, hulk ckleberry house. shawn pen's organization, foundation and habitat for humanity. the greater san francisco chapterer. what we do at bread and roses we try to bring hope healing and joy. we try to bring the most cost-effective ever. there is no amenity that in

sfrons and i #2ksh san francisco and beyond with the partnership that teatro zinzanni provided. we had five different events at the tept. eternity. -- tent. >> first in 2004 and 201 #. the net proceeds from 214,000. no other place in the city will be able to provide. teatro zinzanni as you heard is a first class operation. as a charitable organization, itself in the entertainment business, it was our pleasure and honor to be associated with a first class operation as well because we believe we brought something to them and they brought something to us. we found that many of our
2:14 pm
donors had never been to teatro when they came to one of our benefits and guess what, they would come again for birthdays and holidays and other special occasions. i'm telling you that we need teatro back, the chair and community in san francisco bay area needs teatro back. >> thank you, bruce kelly and after bruce is affleck a. >> hi, i'm bruce kelly, a local businessman in the greater bay area and i'm not a public speaker but i will tell you that teatro zinzanni so me is about passion. i have two passions, one of them is baseball, the giants. in fact i'm here today because one of my friends is on the current
2:15 pm
team. i said i have to support the teatro and i'm here to support another winner. when they left, he was on the baseball term, i thought what's going on, you are killing me, smalls. whenever i tell the people my business of san francisco, i will ask have you ever heard of teatro zinzanni and they say yeah, it's great. it's san francisco. it's when you come to san francisco you want to come somewhere to see world class performers and they are real people. you see 40 something show and every fou -- four 4 months the performance is gone and it's like family reuniting.
2:16 pm
i need to have them back. they have to be here. if you want to have a good time, you want to see good performers, real class act and see what the art and passion is about, it's teatro zinzanni. [ applause ] >> we have a number of speakers. >> we enjoyed many many evenings of fun performers coming and sharing our late evening at the 23 cafe. it was so much fun. we had a lot of fun with our neighbors and we are looking forward to having them back. we think it's been way too long. one thing that i would like to bring up is just the reality of the
2:17 pm
situation is that expediting thing in san francisco is is so long and painful. we hope you can get city hall to be a little bit nicer to teatro and get the shows on the road and the other thing i would like to mention the parking situation at nighttime has seriously impeded our ability to do business. the parking meters are 4-hour meters and they end at midnight. so if you go out at 8:00 for dinner, you are bound to get a ticket and 3 :00 a.m. is street cleaning. so our business has come to a halt. we close at 11 :00 p.m. where we used
2:18 pm
to be able to stay open until 1 :00 a.m.. i'm bringing that to the table so that we can all acknowledge it. thank you very much. >> i don't have any notes. just to try to xhem exemplify the far reaching effects. my mother founded a school here in the city and i was a teacher there. one of the thing i wanted the kids to appreciate san francisco and i would do neighborhood walks to look at the architecture of houses and buildings and i said appreciate that. when i saw zinzanni for the first time, i said this is
2:19 pm
something my kids have to see because they need to know this world can be beautiful and a part of something that aesthetic and something that will make them dream. for eight years8 years i took the students every year and then we started taking the teachers to thank them for their hard work and my mom thought what's better than taking this em to zinzanni and the kids started taking their parents and it became this thing that graced our school. for 10 years it was the golden years and during that time seven of the artist came and spoke to our children about our lives in the circus and when they showed the banners, they can honestly say i know him or her and it meant so much to them. tools to

have that was such an amazing thing and to lose it was a terrible loss. my father who introduced me to the show is 85 years old and in poor health an one of the things that he wishes is that he will stay alive to see the reopening of teatro zinzanni in san francisco and he told me to come here and find out what's happening. please let's expedite this thing. [ applause ] >> hi, my ma'am is roberto sanchez. i wosht for teatro zinzanni
2:21 pm
for 10 years. one of my experience is to be part of the show. they carried all the stuff, the waiters and kitchen n guys put them in the show and dancing and laughing. it was amaze are faux -- for me. i have a lot of memories. when the day open, on saturday and sundays, there are a lot of seniors enjoyed the show too. sometimes i think they don't have time for the nighttime and seniors and children enjoying it. it was beautiful time for me. i just want to say again thank u for these guys to give me the opportunity to meet a lot of people from all over the world like russia, germany and france. i was really lucky to work there and i really wanted you to help us
2:22 pm
to bring this back. this magic. san francisco needs this kind of magic again. thank you. [ applause ] . >> and next then we'll have wells whitney, jim cunningham. >> hi. i'm beaver bower a costume designer in the bay area and teatro zinzanni. i think this historical land deserves a jewel of a theatre that represents the diversity of it's past and presence. it's an original multi- cultural massive experience and celebrate the human kind.
2:23 pm
i think it belongs here and honors the past of the barbary coast. i think our souls need to be entertained and i think we need it now more than ever and what's great about zinzanni is you do it in the most collective experience possible. zinzanni includes the audience to become a wonderful experience. the show is around you, above you next to you and might even under your table. it everywhere, that closeness, proximity moves the audience and entertains them in a different way that they usually are not. talking to the performers and the closeness in that proximity brings a different level of performance out of them. there is no hiding for a performer in zinzanni, everyone see's you,
2:24 pm
smells you, hears you and that is wonderful for each artist and personal one. i think you should grab zinzanni. don't let it go away, park it on the embarcadero and enjoy it. thank you. [ applause ] >> madam president, i am coal whitney, founder and i have been involved in things that are going on and in the northeast sector. i also live on that hill over there which has a reputation for not liking new things in fact i look right down on the cruise terminal. i used to look down on the theatre and it went away. now we have a new cruise terminal, and
2:25 pm
it's great, people are around and things are happening. i look down on tv if it came down. it's a kind of development that we need done by professional groups and know what they are doing and make something happen and woulden liven the spirit of the water front and good for the tourist and support and neighbors up on the hill and down from the hill because it's what san francisco is all about, a very lively town. please let's help move this ahead. thank you. >> good afternoon, my name is tim cunningham. representing myself but also a representative of the bar coast association. and i also have a particular
2:26 pm
interest in teatro zinzanni that i look out my window across the parking a lot across the street and i'm delighted of having something more interesting going into that lot. the people watching is sometimes interesting. i'm a strong supporter of teatro zinzanni, i have loved their shows in the five years 5 years i have been in san francisco and before they left i managed to see their show three times. on the particular project, i really don't have a view as yet, i don't think i can because representing the neighborhood association we are starting the community outreach program. we'll be visiting, our board will be seeing them tomorrow night along with the board of some of the other buildings in the neighborhood. so we are trying to move that
2:27 pm
process forward. i'm a strong supporter of the company and the operation. the individual project will work very intentionally to take a close look at and our input as it goes along. thank you very much. >> next will be paul appender gas. >> my name is steven praul me. a personal interest. i love the show. today is the start of a journey. products like this is about development and art. as a naive san franciscans i show it off as much as i get. known for it's food than it's sports known for it's sensibility and landscape and

home to more immigrants. the entire population and residued. we are a unique breed. we need to build a culture that is inspiring to our history just as this -- body restores a lifeline. i have a wall of photos that shows the teatro zinzanni. i am in support for it's people and management. they are amazing and continue to do so. i not only represent myself but everyone that item brought to this show and as a business leader. i have to say that everyone knew that i was coming and everyone said, please, represent and say this has to happen. i appreciate your support of
2:29 pm
this enterprise and wish your votes propel it quickly >> i represent 14 businesses. i think i'm here today as a small business owner and what's important when you are reporting on your local small business participation successes of which you have a number of them, what we hear today is the magic of small business embodied with teatro zinzanni and creating magic with jobs and with this project we are
2:30 pm
talking about creating jobs that are sustainable for artist who are small business owners. you don't see that very often. you rarely see it. you see construction projects. but those come and go, here we are talking about sustainable jobs for small businesses who really create the magic in san francisco and what san francisco is all about. absolutely support this project. i have known darius and dave for 0 20 years. they support minorities, women, lgbt chambers, this is really a great project for san francisco. thank you.
