access and shared access and accountability achievement outcomes the cac recommends that the district standardized language provided to parents and case managers in this regard one way we suggest that the district provide guidance to assist parents and case managers better to update the special education procedural handbook especially in the experience of the individual education program meeting having this handbook available to all parents and various languages and especially a list of terms that are commonly known and used such acronyms like i e p and l e p

and fate would be helpful for not only parents but case managers readily to understand those terms and also in having this understanding it certain don't allow parents and educators a better turn out to drive appropriate achievement oaks for students receiving special education services cac also recommended that the district provide training on r ti response to intervention and cultural proficiency to all in the district we know that there has been a huge push in education in the district as a whole to train

people to be better prepared to handle a lot of different needs in the classrooms we want to make sure that all teachers share the same information coming into their classrooms and can be supportive of each other in those endeavors to help all students in the classrooms we can't give some information to special educators and others but to work together to meet the needs of a spectrum of standards by systematizing the information that we give to the teachers and the educators and paraprofessionals will help in the education of a wide variety of needs in our students. >> also in this area of achievement oaks the cac recommends that the district conduct outreach conducting the the assessments specifically to

parents of children with you e p while we appreciate the work of the office of the assessment and achievement we have an example of the kind of support that we're looking for that is provided here in the special edge newsletter and example from their winter spring edition 201410 things parent need to know about the common core and this bulletin includes the smarter balance assessment it is important that our parents understand that one that is a computer based saerment assessment but print screen options available if you ranger them ahead of time it is important for our parents and educators to understand the bedded and non-bedded tools and the full range of those tools.
