here i want to call out and thank the police department who helped us with the strategies of enforcement the chief eave commander has been diligent in working through the programs we can accomplish looking at block by block and the ways of the citations and data is collected analysis the data i think we're going to see a lot more progress and strong commitment to work with the police department to get the data we'll see some very good progress made on the education accident john mentioned the citywide education strategy we started with the sf pledge and have the larger vehicle i want to the thank paul from the ecology team that

every easy we're willing to move that forward and on the second piece with the different agencies that are holed up the data we've already met with many of them and given them the case of what san francisco needs to move forward and it will help the state as well, if you make the case to those for the state it helped we want to convene a stating leadership on the legal and administrative hurdle on vision zero most of the issues we're going to find involves the state does want and to break down the city losses and coordinate more effectively and to streamline the timeline the their inadequate we need more

realtime data and we're work working with the planning department that is looking at they're to figure out ways to incorporate vision zero safety treatment and in the planning phase of the project we have a big shift it is important to incorporate that and institutionalize safety in that project they come to the table and talk about it we can make it in the next two years we've seen progress whether or not complete streets and projects tying them to the developments there is historic and precedent but we'll need a better approach especially, as the projects are big developed we need to figure out the opportunities i don't know what it will look like but work with the planning department on and lastly on accountability benchmarks i want to hold

ourselves accountable we'll have okay. benchmarks we'll be monitoring every quarter as best with the data and as we get the data coming to us frequently to keep track of the fatality injuries by neighborhood and age and make sure that is effective citywide and we've got a strong commitment that the public health department to help us with the sf medical with the hospital so see a trend whether up and down and an interim metrics looking at the speeds on the streets we've made huge progress in reducing speeds but we need to pay attention to the aerials and we want to see about the citation issues by violation

thank you for being here on a rainy day i have a lot i want to ask and talk about i'm going to jump if first thank you sfmta staff and megan i know has been working hard and constantly hearing our asks and responding and for everyone's work in the room starting from the top education i do hope that i know john you mentioned that the subcommittee will share their progress in march i hope that techniques task force we can provide input for the vision zero task force i do hope that we make sure that muni takes speed driver training this is protective laid for the pedestrian safety components and existing training i've never

heard of specific pedestrian safety training for you muni drivers so we should definitely started with that and expand to other transit prartsz that use our bus stations and our roads and see what sort of legislation we can pass to impact those drivers i can speak if my own experience developing the training my colleague has helped and in terms of also in terms of education i want to encourage us to maintain a focus on the core message of the safe streets at sf campaigns to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk i didn't hear that talked about today, i want to make sure we're talking about that in terms of enforcement i didn't see a 50

didn't see that in prioritization in vision zero so i want to see that i know our low income communities and community of color are more did not on walking and it they bear the burden of walking so i want to add that to our prioritization it is definitely exciting to hear that pedestrian safety is number one for other - there are instances i run up against that my members tell me about in terms of working with muni in the trade off i think that that needs more explosion on how we make those are prioritization decisions i can expand on that at another time for the 26 miles golds for engineering the coalition asked the mayor and the city to adapt

18 miles of high injury krordz per year and up to $26 million over two years is lower than that and also you'd met that goal so i want to make sure we're clear about our language and the $18 million per year was looking at the pedestrian safety and to address those in the next 5 years give us 4 years to figure out the high injury corridors pop up or other injuries are happening the other 40 percent not on high injury corridors i want to figure out how to address that and the other thing in terms of the stakeholder cable that tim shared the vision zero coalition

is for our 2015 goals t is working on formalizing our partnership and recognized on that cable will be a nice way of making sure our voice is heard and last but not least the last coalition at the end of the year we establish a crisis intervention teams are going out the sfpd and others to insure that complete police reports are taken and the da has the information to prosecutor the collisions and the mta can better understand and help sfpd how to write the complete and correct report and understand what happened and i'm sorry to take so much time thank you.

lot important data and information and also some follow-up in terms of what we've actually be able to accomplish i want to say win a span of 9 months it's incredible how much vision zero has infiltrated whether or not bicycle safety or not and hear over and over from all aspects the effective family and, of course, our city departments it is huge and going as a cohort as residents the staff members and elected folks in new york city to attend a conference saisz says a lot and cities around the world it is great to see how far we've come there is so much work to be done

not a pat on the back but a lot of progress over the last 9 months i'm hoping now we've spent a lot of time on the foundation work the work will be accelerated in terms of the ground work i know in the next meeting so if we can get common feedback from the members of the public i want to dive a little bit more deeply into the funding sources it was great to have a birds and view the list but the additional revenue that will be coming in through prop a and b and how that will be impacting the work we'll be able to accomplish burn or around vision zero specifically than the larger items since this is a body of the transportation authority specifically the prop k request that will support the

vision zero policy i know i've brought this up through kind of prep he meetings in preparation of today is here i am looking at case studies of projects that have begun really well and basically how that was possible and case study of a challenging project that is not saying offering this is the fault of this and that but for policymakers it is helpful to understand why a project happens quickly and successful and why a project is not quick and successful i want to reiterate what i heard from staff it is clear that pedestrian safety or the pedestrian mode is the highest mode and vision zero is hoping us to prioritize capital projects and sfmta and others it is important we look at projects within our districts to make
