last year. we never had the cliff, but we kind of weaned officials ourselves over the revenue from candlestick. we have so many other revenue strategies that have allowed us to really absorb that hit and the mayor's office, i think it's really important to note that the mayor's office was very helpful in allowing us to absorb staff at candlestick so we don't have layoffs. >> we're addressing that lost revenue? >> i think you saw that in katie's presentation and i think a lot of it has been through more people using our parks, but we continue to focus on keeping our earned revenues strong. so that curve, that number that you see that upward
11:01 pm
trend includes historically included candlestick. so you didn't see a big dip and candlesticks had been closed for about a year now and we're still on an upward trajectory with respected to earned revenue. >> commissioner bonilla. >> what a fantastic job and i'm very excited about the new budget. it has so many innovative approaches to addressing major problems or issues that we have had to face over the last 15 years. so i wanted to specifically state that i'm pleased that we're adding six -- we're proposing to add six more park patrols park patrol staff. although i wish you
11:02 pm
would have gone much further along the process, because there is and a tremendous need there. and i'm especially pleased with the translation of the guides to conform with the language access of the city and translating preliminarily into spanish and chinese will go a long way into ensuring more access to those populations in the city. so that one, i'm really, really most excited about. thank you so much for all of the staff for coming out with such great proposals here. >> thank you. mr. ginsburg. >> i did omit one, i think is
11:03 pm
worth noting. in the back we have one of our newest members of our property management team, andrew smothers and andrew under dana's leadership was really instrumental in the closure of candlestick and making sure we were able to reuse as many of the assets at candlestick as possible and worked on the memorabilia and seat sales and all those that helped to offset and make that cliff in the loss of candlestick revenue more palatable and andrew also implemented the program that allowed us to do our own cards and saved money there. it takes a village and andrew very much contributed to our successful budget this year. >> thank you, andrew. thank you, katie. you do need public comment, don't you, margaret? >> is there any public comment on this item? >> i see some folks in the back. no public comment. >> thank you very much.
11:04 pm
>> okay. public comment is closed. >> are you looking for a motion to approve this budget? >> i am. >> motion to approve. >> second. >> all those in favor? >> aye. >> thank you very much, katie. >> item 11, the joseph l. alioto performing arts piazza and installation. >> now you get to hear from young andrew right now. >> if we could get the powerpoint, please. >> andrew smothers with the property management division and i'm here to present on the discussion and possible action

to approve a request for a temporary art installation in civic center plaza from april 10th through may 3rd. the art gallery of at taiwan is requesting permission to install a exhibition in section with the lpga swinging centers golf tournament. it's a depiction of artwork similar in scope to the proposal this year that was staged in and around the golf course for last year's tournament. the current proposal for this year contemplates 19 vibrantly painted sculptures. the sculptures are not be permitted to be placed on the turf in any way, nor would they impede the egress of the plaza. the department is requiring
11:06 pm
that the art installation be structurally anchored to wood pedestals. they are stainless steel pilings and protrude outward. in addition, a structural engineering report certifying that the existing concrete slab is adequate to support the weight of the installation is a condition precedence to any permit issued by the department and will be required to obtain liability insurance, thereby covering the city in event of any loss. yesterday february 18th, 2015 the san francisco individual arts committee approved the installation and the item is currently scheduleded for their march 2nd agenda for approval by full commission by resolution. this is a picture of a horse, of one of the sculptures that is pretty large.
11:07 pm
they vary in size and weight. the smallest one is about 155 pounds and largest about 2,000 pounds. a very renownedartist in at taiwan and i believe he was the first taiwanese artist to have that display doing a little research. that concludes my presentation. >> thank you, andrew. >> any public comment on this item? seeing none, public comment is closed. >> art critic, commissioner low. [laughter ] >> got to sound smart now allan. >> i'm trying to think of something, but i'm hungry. [laughter ]when does this go before the arts commission? >> it went before the visual arts commission and they approved and it's on the consent calendar. >> so it's already on the consent calendar for the arts
11:08 pm
commission? >> the visual arts commission is a subcommittee of the arts commission. >> so there [speaker not understood] . >> it's on their consent agenda. >> do we have a motion. >> so move >> second. >> all those in favor? >> aye. >> so moved. thank you. >> thank you. >> we're now on item 12, general public comment continued. is there any member of the public who would wish to make public comment who did not under item 4? being none, this item is closed. 13 is commissioner item matters and this is design for commissioners to raise issues that will be addressed at future meetings. there will be no discussion of these items at this time. commissioners, any items? public comment? being none, this item is closed. item 14 is new business/agenda setting. commissioners? >> commissioner bonilla?
11:09 pm
>> yes, i would very much appreciate it if we could have some reports on the -- reports by staff on the lincoln park golf course and the golden gate park stables and if we could do that with some updates, where we are with those projects in next couple of months? these two items have been languishing in this new business/agenda setting item for a long, long time. >> any other commissioner? any public comment? being none this item is closed. 15 communications. >> commissioners, public comment? being none, this item is closed and 16 is adjournment. >> so moved >> second. >> all those in favor ? >> aye. >> thank you, one and all..
