and i have a lot of friends thank you, mark and priscilla you and other leaders are transforming our mission to providing compassionate care and clinical experience and hospital that turns no one away no one it is our safety net you see the need to be there and appreciate the everyday work of the decreases and nurses that gift and other leadership gifts make a difference everyday to everyone in our local community and country and world i'm grateful i stand before you on behalf of our co-chairs and campaign committee and everyone in the tent in our san francisco community thank you for this amazing transformational gift i thank you all who came before you and all of those who will

follow you we've gun control to this point thanks to extremely generous gifts as great as this is we need our gift we need everyone in the community to be part of the hospital my goal to have a whole new generations of giving whether $10 a thousand dollars or million dollars whether it's buying a beautiful sculpture you see today to put in our corporate liquor or buying a heart necklace out the gallery for goes on sake every one of you can shine goes on and light on this hospital on our community every one of you can be a part of great work to insure this hospital remains our safety net for all you know my story our young son

running through a glass door taken to general all night surgery to save highs arm and life i was in a strange way blessed to be able to see a glimpse of what this hospital is all about commitment of the decreases and nurses amazed me they amazed me 13 years ago when i spent 7 days in the icu is amazes me today it changed and family and changed our giving lemon any story be enough to change you there are others in this room that were saved at the general and i know you're as grateful as i am we're all grateful it's a safety net it is san francisco's see

who have been successful if he can enhance our ability to bid how about a personal autograph from all of us to remember those bids we can help enhance that lets do that; right? so hopefully, you'll get the bids out we'll continue this effort it is unique to have willie in his red clothing and it is, of course, for san francisco general hospital a place where i think represents the values of this wonderful city that we have and again you know larry and pam and judy and rich we've been to month meetings to for this strategies of how to raise private dollars to support our hospital as pam said and i know exactly how she feels i've been

there at the hospital when gunshot victims were there and police officers were met that unfortunate circumstances and house of representatives of our fire department were braibt brought in as victims and was there when anita my wife was in an unfortunate did this is a hospital that serves everyone and anyone it is the best trauma center you'll find in all the state of california (clapping.) so i know that all of you wouldn't be here unless i knew that was a hospital that you not only wanted to back it is a world-class hospital a very unique relationship with the teaching facilities at ucsf and it's wonderful facilities we've seen the wonderful investments

they've gathered are the benny hoff hospital and all the other the cancer hospital and women's hospital they've been wonderful that relationship has best practices a tremendous blessings for city government i think you all know and feel that that's why i want to make sure we continue raising you'll the funds to complete this entire effort and goal the foundation has and again i want to add my thanks to my good parlor bear brother he and i went to the same college we were parlor bears i want to shout out evidenced there at the beginning when this capital campaign started he and mar bitter man and so many others i want to say as many of you may hopefully have heard i want to be a mayor of a city not only that is

successful but a city that knows how to share in that prosperity that hospital is at the sr. center of that prosperity given because of the businesses community and all the named you saw on the video or announced by judy and pam and rich and i i know that they'll be more in coming if we didn't have that kind of philanthropic participation then we'd be spending money we need more our parks and education, our transportation and our housing to support the furniture and equipment and the future world-class advances that our hospital will have with that private sector that will be a lead goal certified hospital it will compliment the largest bond the voters ever passed 8

hundred and 87 homicide bond that's it that's why i'm thankful for the zuckerberg it is the largest contribution we've gotten in the whole country of the united states it's wonderful (clapping.) so i'm here to thank you. i'm here to try to inspire if you can pick up the red for the purpose as pam said or make a donation and continue this wonderful effort it becomes a public campaign and compliment the tremendous public donations we'd like be a grateful grateful thankful city and, of course i'm so lucky to be your mayor because i'm also a grateful mayor to you all thank you.

(clapping.) >> sadly there are too many people who are not smiling twrom people that are victims in the hiding in the studios and seeing how large this event continues to grow gives me the reassurance that in the future there will be more women here standing strong and more women coming out and saying i need help and support help me to change my life for thought better (clapping.) we it is our responsibility to let victims of crimes know that they have a support system they have policies that will change that will make their lives better we have to continue to push and sigh no more no more victims no more violence if our community and no more violence

no more than should work in a sill low or trying to end violence against women and girdles earlier this week you heard it if you w567d said grammy awards or president obama shared a message of the inare tolerance violence against women we echo that message today and it didn't matter if usual in entertainment or a professional athlete or others we have to have better role models across the board we've got to insist think outside the box that and demand on that everyone has to contribute to end this violence >> to our administration here in san francisco i want you to know by the way i love those signs aren't they great their personal commits commitments what can i do to join the revolution thank you to the

girls and others wrooik our messages of how to contribute here in san francisco i made a personal commitment along with all the other department heads we have a program called interrupt to predict and organize against violence in the city we want to make sure we end human trafficking in san francisco every opportunity (clapping) i just want to say i'm so proud of the da and the public defenders and our police department work together with me and our community based on organizations with leaders in the women group to make sure we do everything we can and examining everybody we can we've got a justice and courage oversight panel that worked together for 13 years making
