to think of something to say first thing it is on you this time (laughter) working at the port has provided just great opportunities for me projects i've done i never could have imagined walking in the door doing them but they have been a number of things coming along on someone that didn't like doing the same thing twice when there's a exchange i go for that i can name things with pg&e (laughter). >> was night mary for a long time we paralyzed with help from the chronicle in a first page article
7:01 am
but frankly short side power the first time at pier 27 i know it was going to be the most difficult project i worked on and fortunately it quoted my exceptions really the number of different pieces that had to come together were outstanding the best part i think was out of nearly $5 million project we had about $4 million of external funding the port got a $5 million for one million dollars or a little bit less we beat la to by getting our system online three or four months before that he got obama they paid $50 million for anyway, thank you for the opportunity to work on a bunch of fascinating projects you get
7:02 am
involved with city government on a number of levels to get involved with way too many federal and state regulars getting involved that the maritime i gave a talk at sfaftd and the maritime ports have responded to the issues and the maritime industry is fascinating it is huge it is i describe it to people as a kind of secret society it's humane out there no one understands it everything on their house was on a ship 80 percent of products were on a ship at some point the maritime industry and the iowu are profoundly important in
7:03 am
making that in the economy and getting to appreciate that and learn to get to know people on the shipping side and the ports not only throughout california but up and down the woovts and east coast it really, really great i'm appreciate for all the opportunities thank you (clapping.) >> any more executive director report. >> that's it. >> any if you remember public comment on the chorts. >> seeing none oh. >> seeing none, public comment is closed. >> item 9 port commissioners report. >> i don't have any report. >> just a few quick things one i just want to echo congratulations to elaine and peter and john and john for that

7:06 am
>> commissioner president katz and commissioner adams and commissioners jerry mr. chairman margaret manager for the port of san francisco today, we're at a milestones presentation circling san francisco water technique business which consists of two operators quickly a bit of background remember back in 2012 during the simmer we did a request for
7:07 am
qualifications that led to select the interviewing of 6 qualified bid irons and with the group of 4 patent lift two from the staff one on marketing side and two from outside the port for example the san francisco municipal transit authority and the mayor's office panels the original qualification was seeking an operator to come in and run is on scheduled regularly scheduled hop on and off technique service along the shore line the port controlled on that panel the consensus was
7:08 am
the water taxi, however in the interviews with the marine throughout on a original concept the panel felt that was worth pursuing so we asked if we couldn't enter into an agreement with a second operator would be operating is on call as needed taxi services between points in san francisco and points in the north and east bay that was approved by the commission and we staff get the authority to enter into agreements in 2012 after the first year of operation for tida marin in 2013 they were looking at to build up their fleet and had investigators come back to the commission in 2013 and asked to extend the term of their lease in 5 to 10 years it was grandioso what that did the
7:09 am
position in 2014 to have two operators up and running the highlights of the 2014 are that san francisco water technique launched they're first vessel it's called little taxi and that was in march of 2014 thankful only operated the staff package reports on just the things that happy in 2014 so san francisco water taxi only operated 9 months out of the year of 2014 but turned in close to $3,000 in rent to the port and served almost 8 thousand passengers they also have begun sea trials on the speed vessel as their presentation will show you they're also working on the vessels they want to incorporate into their system shortly
7:10 am
tied line marin launched their second and larger boot it's a 41 passenger boat and for the year of 2014 they generated revenues of close to $10,000 i want to point out one error if the staff report i showed 6 hundred plus there were 0 actually, two payment we didn't know how to apply so they were applied to the wrong year that is is almost $10,000 and served over 11 hundred and 57 passengers both of those operators were invited to the presentation open the state of water taxi so the water taxi industry your invite for both operators to speak
7:11 am
about their future vision and their plans and where they see the san francisco water taxi going the loose thing important note of 2013 is the port staff completely all of the installations for a 3 part water taxi signage system that was designed and positions with a lot of input from our planning department so it meets all the sign guidelines and sign criteria we completed those installations early in 2014 and the 3 parts of system are we have location banners that show where water taxi landing is there and the banners hang on the light poles controlled by the port on the situation side of hurricane lake and the second part of the system are the way wanting
7:12 am
arrows once you look at a banner if you look at the water you'll see a series of water that points you to the landlord you catch the craft the third is the signage that is installed on the front gailt gate to all of the landing right where you board the craft once complete he operators have over a year experience they're here to talk about they're what they've learned and their future vision so the first, i'd like to introduce is captain taylor lewis the executive director of tied line incorporated a can corporation so - >> you want me to -
7:13 am
>> go ahead. >> thank you. >> commissioners exclusive staff and port tenants it is great to see two water taxi operators in this commission i remember 4 years ago i would monitor this conversation in the demonstrative of the waterfront it is exciting the top of the schedule which is exciting as well (laughter) congratulations to sf water taxi we look forward to more existing years to get going a lot of new faces a general overview in october of 2014 which many of you would nice enough to see our second vessel speaking based on the environmental issues around the port it was inspected in less than 2 weeks they're the most eco friendly engines and

7:17 am
maritime companies. >> our ridership so since we last spoke during our port presentation we asked to extend our contractor as we were privately funded entity and this is san francisco where it's a startup industry not so for water so this was a thank you to the port commission in helping us to present something to our investigators to help to build this out since that time since we last spoke our ridership and the budget of that ridership is local resident we see the residents using our services in conjunction with event we contribute that to our local residents they were filling gaps with hotels and the different events like the giants we ran a service helping people get through traffic it was
7:18 am
successful people got back to the bay in event or 15 minutes it is growing we started up it was a civically started business we launched the world series with the golden gate bridge outages has increased our ridership by 45 percent through march we've taken 9 hundred and 35 passengers to port location and our numbers don't capture what we do outside the port this is the winter season we'll be looking at maximum demand as your marketing get engaged so the rooichd trend is the first year of our business that is understanding the meaningless and how water can be utilized in this area the rid arrow to the
