casino a nonprofit that incubates food enterprises primarily women owned businesses located in the mission i don't know for the past 10 years hosted the street festival in the mission that attracts people to this event is happening at pier 70 this august through that partnering we are working on is finding the right enterprises through la can citizen that operates the trucks that are a compliment to drinking beer we ufbl want the food to be a match here are early graphics from the speak easy folks and their architects a wooden deck one of the things understanding we are trying to create amenity that

ultimately could move into the 28 acre site but knowing we could have as little as two years another that location we need to be resource full and focus we're working with the ports team to fourth things like fire access and ada but we're very excited about speak easier the fact their local and from the bayview they hire in the bayview and that this is going to be something that is going to be a use willow be able to i think worth noting here is that the goal is not this is here for two to four years and then we wrap up and put it aside the goal is to establish something that is drawings thousands of
9:32 am
people here every year and at the point the project is approved and paralyze k where this is sold by i all we understand that's the priority we share the priority at this point we'll transition the whole use as a package towards the waterfront in a woo to leave breadcrumbs for folks to come out foster into the water to help them to develop that already established because of folks that feel an investment in pier 70 so to the family friendly play area we're not exactly sure it is a structure maybe on the left-hand side of the graphic you see something interesting play structures that are made out of wood or restructured materials there's something like many berkley called the venture
9:33 am
plagiarized kids come with their patent and build things we'll have to identify a partner and that is as simple as offender mobile play elements that could be stacked up or moved that's the b blokes this is a at the discovery museum it will require site preparation and flexible and in the bay area we're talking about doing programming out of the site so i think i'm going to stop we're really excited about that and existed about the partnership with you all to begin to create the future of pier 70 today, we will invest money which medians weigh lose
9:34 am
money findings of the two to four year term it is an investment in the value of the underlying land your exist about this in partnership with you all i'll be happy to answer any questions oh, i did also want to say toby levine the co-chair the advisory committee and kate who is the executive director of santa fe made and actually, the one that introduced us to speak easy they came to indicate their support and public comment but had to leave >> thank you. is there a motion? so moved >> second. >> public comment?
9:35 am
>> hi there commissioners madam president i'm christopher sparks work for speak easy just wanted to comment for a moment about the project which was described as a fast growing craft brewery we and speak ears are happy to partner preponderance of the evidence the approval of the lease and activating the pier 70 for a peace zero we feel honored to participate and developing a plan for build out so i'll put up photos that will benefit the community and drive awareness for the pier 70 site we feel the beer goornd will create a beautiful welcoming space for the neighborhoods and the at benefit of promoting our brand
9:36 am
as well as those of fellow craft breweries and whiners in the area there's a lot going on in the area we look at the significant capital investment we're willing to make as a special opportunity for an economic development and one that will promote light manufacturing in the city and county of san francisco and highlight the thrilling manufacturers in the neighborhood we're happy to add to the culture in pier 70. >> other public comment? seeing none, public comment is closed colleagues commissioner brandon would you go first >> thank you very much for a great project that is existing a wonderful concept of bringing people to the waterfront i highly courage you have wine kraefrt involved.
9:37 am
>> (laughter). >> commissioner woo ho. >> i think that is we're all excited about seeing activation i think the proposal has good balance in terms of some of the what the port needs to seek out of the transition and as forest city is trying to chief and build a brand of a main site down the road i guess the improvements whether speak ease their or would you dome them as pop up - >> is your. >> commissioner murphy. >> can you use commissioner murphys mike.
9:38 am
>> okay i didn't touch anything i just want to know the importance - >> commissioner maybe use commissioner murphys mike. >> something is lose down there. >> the encroachment that are made how temporary are they and memorable are retruly pop up or something that are is like i mean, i know they're not permanent improvements can you tell you a little bit more about that and is the ultimate designation on your site. >> we'll spend probably five or $600,000 in things like doing some site preparation cleaning the site and making sure that is assessable and putting up a new
9:39 am
fence and improving the sidewalk area and bringing electrical service to the site new water outlet and most of those things are permanent they'll stay the lease actually says we're required to remove those that are in the useful by the port and really the stuff we're doing site wise the famed play area not sure if it is is a structure if it's a structure we'll like to really what we're after i mentioned establishing a mix of uses at the point we begin the first phase we can move out probably adjacent to building 12 that actually draws that activity out to the site
9:40 am
beer garden which is building code has a gray area for 0 building and then there's a gray area we have to meet the blald they're built to be temporary in nature two to four years our hope those improvements could be modified slithering because the grade is different but the beacon hill decking the bar areas the back of the house storage areas those can be picked up and moved potentially in a different configuration but that is absolutely our goal and speak easy that's their gallows one of the things that is a way to be developing tenants for the future use of site and we would
9:41 am
love to we're hoping to exposure whether speak easy could be part of maybe building 12 or maybe at the waterfront they have a bar but, yes the goal to be able to take this as a package and move it out to the first phase of the site. >> echo long that issue particularly looking at the children's structure or the potential facilities for youth there can some thought be given as this site changes and gets into a different phase those structures could be placed else are, i.e., along the lines in the same broad fingertip we'll appreciate the port looking at having those kinds of remedies
9:42 am
mitigated over. >> there's a couple of things i'll say about that one is that we are still figuring out what that family play zone is and whether it's a structure that makes sense to pick up and move or mobile as blue blocks as i mentioned in response to commissioner woo hos question that's our goal to establish something that can as a successful mixture together to move but if for whatever reason the timing didn't work or maybe in speak easy decides we don't want to operate the beer garden and didn't make sense to transition that as part of that larger pious i'll sigh absolutely look to utilize that where it makes sense as pier 70. >> keep in the back of our mind
9:43 am
the flexibility of other opportunities that come up for using some of the seem. >> absolutely absolutely. >> i'm excited buyout city that is part of city that is dynamic and existing as part of me wants to is this is our best kept secret outing how fabulous the weather is no offense to our beer garden friends but i'll sigh i like a little bit of wine i'm excited to see this ear has more continuous activity rather than the one of of one that drives people to the site but i know my took up grateful friends are going to get into down
9:44 am
there. >> they can have a beer and take photos. >> i'll reiterate we do appreciate that you the commission and staff are balancing priorities of cash flow and long term development and we appreciate that the partnership in being able to find that balance in a way that is creating the future of pier 70 and it's activity today, i also want to thank all the staff that is so involved in making that happen that is basically everyone that is still sitting in the room and i agree thank you to our staff they've put in tremendous effort and work throughout the project so also commissioner adams 47d me a note that said, yes 12 b i think that indicates his support so
9:45 am
commissioners. >> well, what is there left to say what we need is another bar i echo that our fellow commissioners said it's a worthwhile project i hope that brad has worked the best deal for us. >> thank you so is there a motion? all in favor, say i. >> i. >> opposed? resolution kaiser thank you item 13 new busy. >> i believe you asked me about o d i. >> yes. yes. i thought since we were getting a bit of update it it makes sense at some point. >> will do. >> any other new business commissioners seeing none is there a motion to adjourn.
