4:00 am
the vision 2025 graduate profile and some of the concerns part of that allocation will be dedicated to multi entry points for language so that even if you don't get into language program in kindergarten that in middle school you'll have an opportunity to study a new language and finally i just want to thank the voters of san francisco the $60 million fund is helping to show what the district will do and continue to rely on the voters to supporting our public schools this is one of the most tangible was to do that superintendent. >> i wasn't going to see anything but kudos and ditto to everyone i couldn't say more but i want to remind everyone that is listening and watching on tv
4:01 am
about 4 or 5 years that central had a little bit over $13 million in one swoop it is important to reminder during the economic crisis awhile succulence were eliminating things we're having discussions about augmenting some of our colleagues school districts across the state of california they'll still no language programs there are no pe teachers no enrichment activities i want to reminder folks that music and arts are language we support them as well so i think the voters of san francisco have done with the enrichment fund is incredibly important you can tell when i the discussion of board and staff we take that very, very seriously but the special shout out to the peace came back in
4:02 am
that year we cut $113 million every member as part of staff members saying we want to survive and not kit everything we want you to understand we need to put often life support everyone held their it nose and said we understand we're in the process now of removing ourselves from life support and growing programs that is a really good feeling and engender those conversations people are passionate about thank you for allowing us to keep the district alive and afloat to grow our programs the one thing we've never wavered on students and students learning is not defined by a test score but educating the whole child they need music and arts and irish literature
4:03 am
and rich math and science and adversary experience everything we've been talking about and languages is exactly with the san franciscans have helped us to thank you voters of san francisco and our program managers that made that possible to manage our programs. >> thank you, mr. superintendent. >> well, now move on to i board members proposal none tonight. >> offender i'm sorry (laughter). >> i apologize p we will now are a roll call vote on the enrichment fund allocation. >> ms. sonata. >> mr. chin ms. fewer your mr. haney ms. mendoza-mcdonnell. >> ms. norton

4:05 am
minutes (calling names). >> i just want to. >> hello, i'm jose a senior another the high school i'm here because last year, i was in a band class for a great concert we had the news our class was being cancelled now me and other students we call together trying to find out a way to fix the problem there were many students interested on it and they needed a new career
4:06 am
teacher so we started to make a petition we wanted to know liquor hey homing how many students are interested do you want to be in a band and apparently thirty percent of the students wanted to join the band class but couldn't because the requirement that comboel asked for in math and science were over our intelligent classes we noticed that three years ago our classes like theatre and acting no singing were you she did too so we are wondering what's going on not supported and we don't know who to turn to so we do have a band petition that is the students wanted the class size
4:07 am
over 2 hundred and 70 signatures and we do believe they're interested it matters for colleges too because they don't look for poor students they want someone that has experience and so someone with diversity so we just don't think it's fair for our high school of 2 thousand students not to have the band or arts class shunned. >> i believe that the superintendant has a quick response. >> so if the back is bill sanderson the assistant superintendent sunflower the high school make sure you connect with him okay. okay thank you. >> all right. >> okay. thank you yes.

4:26 am
all over san francisco in the merging program principle rosenberg remind that that star king stayed like that was in the surrounding area principle roger beggar as tunnel that around many, many ways when you go to john mirror you try to meet with the principle he is actually teaching in the classroom and math so i don't think anyone could have picked the wrong principle i want to say he was the wrong football team but in terms of how he deeply cares about his students one of the things if nothing is a testament to it's leadership it is the fact that a lot of the teachers and the liaison that testified
4:27 am
