sure you're aware of to increase affordable housing and one of the things we're looking at one the possibility we're looking to doing an update opts the moovn along the corridors for zoned for high-rise and we're looking at the possibility of changing the land use to encourage affordable housing in that area given the huge number of projects that are proposed in that corridor and the needs to take a fresh look with an environmental review we don't know what the infections ii wanted to have february whether they'll support that direction we will be going back in each of the next two months with more information and ideas of implementation i'll encourage

you to attend but we'll come to this meeting in july of an update what we are considering and the approaches we might take i'll certainly update you as we make progress on that thank you. >> commissioners, if there's nothing further we can move on to past events with the board of supervisors court of appeals and the historic preservation commission. >> good afternoon aaron star planning staff at this week's land use committee meager heard the 3 short-term rentals ordinances those make amendments to 9 short-term rental promissory note program and land use we heard those are the a as a single item and supervisor campos was in place of supervisor kim it was attended before i me and the overview of

the 7 by 7 spate actions and supervisor campos questioned the staff director kim and others when the short-term rental platforms should provide the city data how often the units are rented supervisor wiener asked questions about the departments enforcement and commented he didn't believe did existing program was in place long enough fred of the budget and perspective analysis provided that report on the short-term rentals and followed by a presentation of the controller's office of economic analysis presented by ted egon as of the planning commission hearing there was quite a bit of condominiums from david rishgd and airbnb the comments were similar to what this commission

heard no april at the end of the comment the committee anticipated the reduction of number of dates and the participants will center to wait to - this motion was passed from a 2 to 1 vote that supervisor wiener desenlt and the ordinance to include low language in supervisor jane kim that restricts the short-term rentals from being used for 5 years they moved to move the - they tabled supervisor kim ordinance which was a duplicate from the short-term rental ordinance and this was at the request the supervisor kim at the conclusion of the 6 and a half hour meeting the committee adjourned at the full board supervisor kim's

passed it second reading and the requirement for cu for certain uses not castro upper market and cds passed it first reading and the redesignation of the western manufacturing building passed it first reading and the appeal of the educational discussion from the station 16 this was an appeal of a class to exempt for the existing fire stations and the use of category exemption for the state hazard i didn't say materials list site had been listed in the 1980s but substantially it was claenld up and the closer letter was issued any issues with the hazardous soil is addressed in

an ordinance the department e descend the exemption relate to the public especially outreach for the project itself has conducted by the fire department this board of supervisors voted 10 to zero with supervisor kim absent to i would like the planning department determination the next appeal was a categorical appeal for hostages alleyway for a cost bone exception of a two story exemption residents for a third-story it will include the roof deck adding one hundred square feet and the project underwent a quebec and the project was modified to the third-story was sect in order to

located at the rear of the property it was supported, however, a number of surrounding neighbors in opposition of a rear yard conveyance the commission reminded the community that there purview is purely for the secretary of impervious standards the staff has made the zoning administrator aware of the the concerns when the item is taken up the commission has heard to items with the looker-on one of the avenues it is was formally known as at health center it is a surplus property owned by the city and there's currently a board of supervisors action to formally declare it surplus property and sell it to a

private developer property is not only for its evict it is known but murals on the interior of the building local community organization as well as one member the community that is interested in the murals petitions the commission to include it open the landmark designation program the commission agreed to include that but directed the staff to work with the community to develop the designation report given our current large list of properties for designation on the pc program the community b will work diligently and we're you currently working with the department of real estate to make them aware of the

communities desired for protecting the building the last item the commission heard the ethics commission on university street a building is historically known as the old ladies home the colonial structure built in the 1980s not able for its work of master architect risk and coffee property ended on the landmark designation work program based on a 2 hundreds signature petition from the community asking for the designation of the structure we've got support from supervisor campos and others and toured the property and shared with them the benefits and responsibilities of landmark designation caring considering that the commission

education i was trained well by some of the best educational institutions in the world so i know something about education we can get education to our children only if they're given it and only if we have good leaders good leads know the way and show the way and go the way now you commissioners i don't have 10 minutes i got two minutes you commissioners should look at the few points and represent the people represent our youth and young adults a lot of them living on the streets of san francisco make good things happen recollect and discern and act thank you very much
