the events of yesterday took the life of many people. the toch has been passed to a new generation. i think what we have today is generation gap. the young versus the old. you are the new againeration and the toch is passed to you and it is up to each of you for choices are made to include or exclude all peoples. as a new generation of americans your responsibility is great. in my view and nob nub many historical change jz become a ablthive participant as well. for example, president john f kennedy in 1963 was deeply committed to the cause of human right as a moral [inaudible] he would be known as the gate keeper for civil rights. now those days are submitted in history, but our struggles are

the same. as a baby boomer my life as i knew it would be forever altered by brain injuries, traumatic brain injuries. after a munt of rehabilitation i find myself isolated in fear. it takes intervention mptd my social worker recommended getting involved in the community living campaign where they had computers that were free. it is here i was introduced to social media, facebook and such access [inaudible] would be like a switch board to my damaged brain. >> thank you ma'am. thank you ma'am. next speaker, please >> good morning supervisors thank you very much for allowing me to share a few thoughts with you today. my name is michael lee. i am one of the many thousands of people you continually talk about. i'm a homeless man living on the streets of san francisco and when i can i live in shelters mpt the thing i want to bring today is while you go 33 the budget discussions we face a crisis in san francisco called homelessness and the solution foothat is housing. affordable housing a thousand munt or better brut housing senior citizens like myself can

[inaudible] where do you find the money at? the first thing that you do in finding the housing for homeless people is stop criminalizing us. you have over 200 laws on the books specifically aimed at homeless people. i'm sorry because i'm homeless and forbsed to sleep in your doorway because i'm forced to sit on urpark binchs and parks, because of the fact i'm homeless and can't afford housing in san francisco. the second you do is look at the present money you are spending and ask are we get thg most bang for the buck. you take a careful examination. the third recommendation is aballs the [inaudible] you take that money and the money you save from chasing us you have more than enough to fight homelessness and can probably do by reduced by a 3rd. i want to leave you

more equitable and robust system to support the arts in the city >> thank you, next speaker please >> good morning supervisor and committee, my name is suzy nob nub long term san francisco rez accident and artist and arts advocate. i represent a small arts organization a block from city hall called safe house arts. safe stands for saving arts from extension. i'm also [inaudible] aba is a collective of arts organization and individuals that began meeting very early this year to the [inaudible] in a time of urgency for the arts. the group has gained interest from 25 arts organizations of all size squz 500 residence. as a member of the arts budget coalition of aba we want to extend or deep precation and to each of you and the mayor for

that this additional money will be focused primeally on community based organizations and individual artist who are providing amazing service in the neighborhood throughout the city. i also want to thank the work of aba and ebony mu kiny who is leading that i bringing us together to speak as one voice. one of the recommendations that aba made that isn't part of the nish negative is put in funding for service organizations that are excluding from direct funding for community based organizations and artist, the service we provide day in and out and ask you to think about additional funding is and go along with the aba recommendations for that and thank you for your support again. >> good morning my name is beck

a [inaudible] and work at the san francisco marine food bank and also attend san francisco food security task force meetings. i want to say thank you to the sate and county of san francisco for making food security a top priority and wanted to recognize that. i also want to recognize and appreciate the commitment made by the mayor this year to address food security by his addition of 1.4 million of home delivery males thmpt food task force has done deep and focused analysis of food security in san francisco and the city made a commitment to address footd security by 2020 cht our ask today is for next years budget is include a additional 3.477 million for dos to go towards home delivered male jz grocery

proposal for our community. as you ruweir there are over 20 community groups that come toort and develop the [inaudible] proposal each year. i want to high light 2 areas in that proposal to speak about, one is 50 rapid rehousing for homeless single adults. these will be subsidies that people at jazzys place can use to exist homelessness. we have a entry for people to into the shelter but need a place for them to go on the other side and the funding for those 50 subssidies will allow that. [inaudible] nob secondly i would like to high light the request for 89 need spatspace rental subsidies

for senior and disables san franciscans. the first 61 was issued april 1 and we #5ur8d have 47 senior and disabled san franciscan enrolled in that program including just now we have a 92 and 93 year old women who are paying 95 percent of their income towards rent and we will be able to relieve them of that. we have a latino mother from the mission whos husband died and who was murdered [inaudible] >> thank you, next speaker, please >> my name is jamesy [inaudible] larkicen street. i'm here to support the hes puand scfor the portion of [inaudible] in 2013 we did a youth count and 1800 youth were

on the street. asked the 638 thousand dollars which provide 24 housing opportunities. learned a very needed independent living skills that they don't have because they were forced to live on the street and if h to go into survival mode so they can have the opportunity to live in san francisco. lark en street and i hope you support the [inaudible] >> good morningime jennifer nob director of coalition on homelessness and here to support the hes puproposal. i have been thinking a lotilateby about what safety mean squz since safety was a huge priority in the mayors budget with 63 million over 2 years to train officers and officers are spending a ordinant amount of time with complaints about homeless people. we have a

crisis. what crisis? i'm talking about the housing crisis and every day they hear the stories of people who are facing unbearable hardships mptd famelies unable to house the children, sleeping on floors of churches or vehicles, now showers or quite space. i heard of women [inaudible] men with disabilities barely able to get around and unable to get off the street and forced to sleep on the concrete rising rent. you have a amazing opportunity here. hes puhas a proposal that will house 600 people over 2 years and keep thousands in their home. housing subsudez [inaudible] taking together these are critical housing interventions that would trully keep san franciscan safe. the very ugly
