and i know the past we've had commissioner vice president cleaveland attend i think you have it on your schedule we hope to do review with the mayor's director we met with the members of the committee to talk about the needs in catching for the years we had to reduce the operating budget the biggest priority is the fleet plan so we will hopefully come out of that meeting with some direction the mayors office i'd like i'll be happy to report at the next meeting april 15th. >> with regard to academies as you may know the 1 and 19 academy is in their ninth week we started with 44 now 52 the

two people that are no longer many the academy have reas i understand because of injury things are going well, it is very comprehensive academy we're being flexible we that this is important deputy chief wilson and deputy chief benign i didn't we've transitions in alignment with the state marshall curriculum we planned on that being similar to other academies legislated 17 weeks we find because of the additional requirements curriculum and so forth that it is not the best interest to put it consolidate into 7 weeks the recommendations to extend the academy there is a cost we feel that is a wise

investment by 3 weeks and i think chief wilson will be prepared at that meeting or chief collins to go over the curriculum i support we had a may 20th graduation now june 9th i think certainly warranted to have more detail at the appropriate time to provide you a reasoning for doing so in a nut shell in alignment with the length of the academy that are also adhering to the state fraush curriculum so we don't believe that will put off our schedule we still are planning for one and 20 class comprised of one and 50 people from station 49 and planned for

june 20th we've conduct interviews and additional backwards the month of april for the additional one and 20 class we're working with the deputy chief of operations and the ems training division to cooperate we call a bump up academy a promotional opportunities b level one with the paramedic licenses overtime we hire people off the ran that are working as paramedics a 3 week academy we hope to get underway for 24 members to ascend from h c level 1 to 2 followed by the end an h-3 one this is off an believable list we've been working to hire 32 people for an

mentions is the states on the current one and 19 and if i can delineate i want to mention in order to meet the requirement of accreditation we had to include additional training topics some of the items that have been curiosity the academy required to be expanded for example, wildland two days of training expands to fifth story days of training and additional lectures and training he under the current 17 weeks it would have cut out time tasks for the folks we believe that the recruits should have the most opportunity to become comfortable with the commit and anything less would insure possible failures we wanted to expand the academy to

make sure we can see it's success. >> let's see monkey off my back over to in service training continuing the below grade training and chief was with the construction company and building owner agreed to allow the fire department assess to the building indefinitely as a result we will set up the training for members throughout the department currently it was focused on companies who had that specific type of construction and in their district and currently we have trained over 200 members and preparation for our upcoming tuff shooter training finishing up video to all folks the field prior to the training module it

involves the include the use of the library on treasure island and includes the preparation from the members of the san francisco fire department we are almost continued the construction of the bart prop on treasure island and we anticipate utilizing it in upcoming drills this summer under the ems training on march 14 began the captain training that continues through april 1st the ems stave in addition to assisting with the recruit academy training they've continued to provide ongoing mandatory ems training for the emt and the paramedic members under nert the staff and staff she's continued to have the

neighborhood advanced training and command post operations that was a useful use in the valley the volunteers were utility as a resource as well conduct outreach presentations she's currently preparing for the upcoming nert drill that kicks off the one and 50 anniversary celebration on april 17th. >> the fire reserves currently 40 members they continue to hold weekly training sessions which during e during if period is italian drills and the response to the fire on fulsome street on february 13th that included 17 personnel who volunteered to respond to that incident the reserves continue to volunteer with the hands only xr

training at marshall high school and participating the march italian parade under the departments position he continues to provide flu vaccines to all members during this reporting period there were 3 promotional 34 return to duty and thirty contraptions and illnesses recorded. >> under budget and finance the department bureau of fire preservation is seize strong revenues throughout the fiscal year and in addition the department ems revenues are anticipated to come in open budget and the department xuvenz expenditures are anticipated to come in on budget for the 2015-2016 year fiscal years 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 operating budget for the department was submitted to the

recruit academy as well as working with the department of technology and the installation and configuration of fiber and wireless network the division of training at the fulsome and treasure island campuses as well as station 49 under homeland security the deputy chief st. francis has attended numerous meetings throughout the period and sits on committees in precipitation for the and/or the planning stage for upcoming event he along with assistant chief deputy administrative reviews has provided help for the st. patrick's prayed and attending a meeting with the k9 team later next month to discuss the compensation for k9 hrnldz currently two of the

k9 handlers have passed part two in arizona and the third k9 team will be in riverside under the assignment office the states had a recent addition with kimberly that began an march 14 and as a part of curriculum the h-33 captains training under support services chief lombardi has been busy with meetings with various groups throughout the city to fine the health and safety bond that will pass on the june ballot other updates the construction of pump station one at hearing aid it estimated to be complete by the end of may 2016 it is

also estimated that the construction of station that will be complete by the end of the year chief lombardi has been working with the court on pier 36 for a possible relocation for station 35 under he serve 2010 and 2014 these bonds include the repaired for fire stations throughout the city there i have a list of varies repairs and various stations that are confirmed for the easter 10 bond and the easter 14 they have roof replacement and shower rehabilitation and sidewalk repairs

and if i could breakdown into 3 go types of work they have the focus scope which includes such minor repairs and paint and shower pans and then you have the comprehensive repairs which station members move out of the station and all the work is done including the remodel at the same time it is not a tear down that will be a seismic ripper are that could be a retrofit and the building is seismically replaced that in the interest of time i'm not mention the specific repair but i can show you that that is included in your packet. >> under the water supply system construction is completed for the ashbury tank and the twin peaks reservoir design work continues for the

peter gross is the team coordinator we have 3 firefighters with k9 right now peter gross has been doing it with 3 people in training 2 of these passes the fumd test and looking to deploy with the california task force and the third dog had a bad day and mr. will be tested again in april we'll have 4 dogs at the evident e end of the month type 4 they can travel within the united states their searched trained for live victims versus cadaver dogs those are for people where we can be used whether the holidays or a building the captain - we have a car that

went into lake merced we deployed a dog it was filed with weeds so canines or able to search much faster humans to get our dog and go through the training and pass the tests will take about 6 months to 18 months our new handlers work hard and dedicated in about 5 months so their dogs would be 6 months worked very hard it is what it takes the 3 new ones got the dogs from the national search dog foundation we require the dogs and work with those handlers to develop the expertise they're all german shepherds.

door frame but you are not moving to great distances. >> where can i buy a richter scale? >> mr. richter is selling it. we are going to put a plug in for cold hardware. they are not available. it's a rather complex. >> in fact we don't even use the richter scale anymore. we use a moment magnitude. the richter scale was early technology. >> probably a myth that i hear most often is my building is just fine in the loma prieta earthquake so everything is fine. is that true ? >> loma prieta was different. the ground acceleration here was quite moderate and the duration was moderate. so
