initiately said, amount i'm from the western edition. and as a good friends of mine judge perkins asked mow to come up, and asked me why did i tell this young lady, no. and so i turned and told her i will think about it, low and behold dihad they asked. we started a program. here i am 24 years later still remaining as the president. and i gotta say, this is an all volunteer program. we have over 50 staff members. that give their time more than 20 hours a week during the season lasts 4 months. to love, to serve, to moteerate and inspire the children that come in our organization. winning is great.

11:54 pm
representation matters. you need to uplift this so people know him but people like him like me. like you. like anyone who looks like him to be, i can do this, too. to have the city's first banker and a street in the middle of financial district. that alone is powerful. >> in dam chair. if i could for the workshop minutes for february 7 add the organizations for the [inaudible] under item 6. [inaudible]. i would be supportive. other comments on the minutes? i will energy that i received now comments from 2 members of public that they would like to see a bit more reflective in the minutes of substantlies of the panel. when we heard from the community members. that was a meaningful discussion to aloftus on the topic of trust and government. the minutes don't reflect the comments or input we heard from the community members. and that was frust ritting for some who could not join but
12:04 am
wanted read the community members. i discuss third degree with secretary silva i know it is not normal to have that level of detail but the panel was interesting and i not approve those minutes today and taking a minute to try to dig through note and asemble a sum row of when we heard from community member and put that down in the minutes. joy would support that. upon concerns or comments. >> it it is find for this panel given it is a special thing but i guess as an exception. may be. because it was an exceptional gathering. i don't see why not. yea. >> i will second this. i think. >> people can watch and i don't know how well this taping went for the day buzz of the
12:05 am
unjushl environment. when we are here at city hall people watch segments to get full color and that itemizes it on the website. so, because it was in this venue and a more challenging environment for capturing i support but general low i think encouraging people to go online and look up meetings is best. >> that is i good point we had audio. might not be accessible to people. >> secretary, is that okay. any occurrence. i try to take alegality of notes can i share my notes with you. i can do this for the february 7 special meeting. >> thank you. we will now open up to public comment. before we vote to approve the minutes. commenters in the room? none for this item. >> we can go to online if there

12:07 am
this is edward mason. i agree with the previous caller. the san francisco county transportation authority meeting minutes meet the standard of public expectation. they are comprehensive and full disclosure of the meeting interaction. the workshop audio was marginal and i was looking forward to comments regarding that. i just gave up trying to listen to the meeting during the workshop. so -- i think there needs to be an examination of comparison between the meeting minutes and the transportation authority minutes. and we should then embark on a standards of expectation that we should have, because -- if you have to go to the library and try to monitor that online, that
12:08 am
is you know just time consumg. having an old like a peeves paper in your hand to read and make notes because you can use these as reference documents, too much thank you very much. thank you for sharing your comments. next speaker? no one else in the queue. >> i have a question is there a transportation that is provided with the minute fist you go to sfgovtv does it type it out, too. >> on cost cost the caption notes from every meeting. >> so members are also pointed there when they seek more information or record figure they do video, audio or the caption notes. >> thanks. >> good point. >> thank you. we will close public ment on item 4 and i will ask my clothe fist there is a motion on the february 21 only. >> right move that -- i move the february 21st minutes.
12:09 am
[inaudible]. >> seconded. >> roll call, >> on the motion to approve february 21 minutes director cajina. >> aye >> director hinze. >> aye. >> director yekutiel. >> aye. >> director borden. >> aye. >> chair eaken. >> aye. >> upon minutes are approved. item 5, communications. >> the main communication i want to get across today is had while the valencia project was noticed for hearing today we are not going to take that item today. tell be held in a future date to enable more time for community input and feedback. we don't have a date certain but like to move that as soon as possible. so i expect it coming up in the next few meetings here. >> anything else secretary silva. >> that is all i have. >> thank you.
12:10 am
you should do we take public comment on item 5. members of public in the room this want to provide public comment to this item 5, communications. >> i believe she is [inaudible] to a further date. so, i wanted du send notices to the resident hos live in the district regard thanksgiving plan that you have. because when i pulled up the plan on the phone you can't understand the plan from had it looks like. you guys taking all the parking spaces away on valencia street from 15-24th. that's what i wanted to know. and iment to keep in minds when the department plans this. this is a residential area there are resident who is need that to park there. you got those who have disabilities and disabled and
12:11 am
things like this i want to you keep in minds that -- it is not good to take all those. you took majority of the park spaces and the restaurant as well, not very many parking spaceos valencia street. i don't know -- i get a notice in the mail when you rescheduled this date for this . this is very important i just got this in the mail on friday. so -- this is like a last minute thing. also i wanted say that i don't i think unfair board of supervisors are commissioners voting on this when the residents who live in the district should be allowed to vote. we are the once affected. >> thank you for being here. apologize on behalf of the board. to you and the public for the change in schedule. it was again intended allow more time for community input.
12:12 am
will we get a notice for the rescheduled date. >> staff can talk to make sure that valencia gardens the community engaged there, because i know you have been working with merchant groups and you want to speak to since we have this opportunity to peek what are the next steps before we hear it again. what out reach you plan to do. >> sure, jamie, liveable streets with the sfmta i am happen to chat a bit if you like. so -- there were postcards we believe the hearing would be here on march upon 7. we'll send postcards when we have a firm 100% date for the rescheduled hearing the postcards were not the only piece of out reach we have done we have done quite a bit and recognize the very difficult to
12:13 am
reach everybody through a planning process. the postcards intends everyone interested had a chance for input and will take additional input. and very high level i say that this project there is a proposaled not be removing all the parking from 15-24th this is not part of the proposal. there are parking changes that are complicated we are happy to talk about that with anyone who has questions. >> there is a large housing project we make sure we do on site -- thing with them? they are not involved with merchant groups and are people who may not pay attention to city government. >> absolutely. >> thank you. director parks. are there other speakers here in the room. do we have remote callers for
12:14 am
item 5? >> we have no callers in the queue. >> close public ment on 5 and go to the next item >> item 6, introduction of new or unfinished business by board members. >> director yekutiel. >> hi. i have 3 things. one, i wanted visit remote public comment item it is something i have been interested in. there are a lot talking about this. it is delicate export to upon find a balance of creating access for as many as possible and running meetings that don't tire us out and allow you to do our work.
12:15 am
>> i don't want to see remote public access abused and some body its has been the case and in our body a couple times don't want to spend 2-4 hours a meeting that will not be impacted by our work temperature is great we have special accommodations who cannot send e mails or cannot be here, when i was on small business commission it was hard to show up in person. because they are rung accidents. ir get it. upon but providing special accommodation for folks and 10 minutes of public comment on top it is possible could add hours to meetings. and i want our body to work as
12:16 am
well as it can. i understand this is there has been a lot of conversations behind the scene busy this this . is when we have come to. i like to revisit it in a few months to see how it is working and limiting remote comment to 10 minute portion to 1 minute per person if there are folks jump nothing and want to speak on every item it gives room for folk who ares not used to the system and are not have not applied early. i want to here from as many as possible approximate not folk this is don't live here. i don't know what the reactions of that are to my colleagues. that's how i feel. >> i know you have 3 items >> that is the tough one. >> it was with the guidance we revisit this and carefully electronic and monitor this that gweneth and i made the decision around 10 minutes we can electronic how much time it is
12:17 am
the second silva is alined with that prop in terms of your of idea of a minute for on the phone we explored this concept. and need to provide the same time for all speakers whether in person or remote. [inaudible]. >> something we can discuss. >> i know it misound we are trying to cut people out the state legislator they have people call in and say approve or disapprove and that allows a lot to say how they feel i don't want us to be artificial low bound by things. laws in the san francisco are different then and there state law in that regard. so yes, i do think the spirit is that we want to to your point don't want to tire out the board but have people who make an effort to when and prioritize that. that's how we have always operated as a board. directors and when we have
12:18 am
controversial item its is easy for peek to stack up and join in on the call. and i think if people arement to make a comment. than i can do so in other ways remote low. that is right. >> okay. that makes sense. people are coming and showing up does feel disrespectful and i understand we have to do it across the board is there a sometime to revisit this? in 3 months or sick 6 months. i think 3 months. not they don't want to hear from folks i want to hear from folks we want to hear from that don't always get to be heard. >>. the second piece of new business is -- i can't see as well anymore i will wear glasses now. unfortunately my vision changed. and this it is a good rekosovo
12:19 am
now i'my getting older and i didn't want you to be surprised or think i'm doing this to look smart i have a stigmatism and will be wearing this. like a sandwich will tough, easy, tough. i would like to have an item where we review the time line, processes and how our body figures out how we repave the area around our trax. electronics all overnight staechl i seen cyclists on the areas on trax. on market street and church. that is our responsibility. it is in the dpw i want to ask if you are willing to allow an item we can look into this and talk about how it is done special if there are ways to improve that part of our process. >> can i add-on to that.
12:20 am
i than after last hearing improvements med on mission street but mission street from appleton until about church is still like the bus are like shaking like crazy and it is just terrible. the street conscience along mission are really bad and it is bad for the life cycle of our buses. we are trying to extend. we made this major investment. with whatever we can do. we don't pave the streets. i don't know how we, might be interesting to have a joints hearing with dpw how this prioritization happens. i know this the streets are business. mission specific low. it is really worried buzz people almost fall or do fall on the buses from the buses this are slow. may be i don't know if you have anything to add this is a larger
12:21 am
issue around the city. >> and director tumlin, there is a dpw commission they are just getting started we work together to get this done think a joint commission or bringing. dpw in the spirit of cooperation to figure it out would be a benefit. >> my -- i'm not log today i can't access my mic. but woad be happy to give a presentation alone or with dpw and do that at tag or here in [inaudible]. >> so point of clarification to the city attorney's office about the idea of extra board members this is another topic. if you have a submittee and you have a fourth person from the board join what are the rules related that. that is a quorum of the over all
12:22 am
board. can they join, if they can't, can, cannot speak or had are the rules to better understand. >> it might be best if we prepare something in righting and submit it to the board to make it clear what the limitations are. with respect top board members appearing and potential low participating. so if that is okay with chair eaken and vice chair borden e we can do that. >> yea. there are other committees. >> great. >> understood. thank you. >> on the proposal, to me does it matter where this conversation happens? i brought it up and i think i understand this my colleagues agree this is something we want to look into as long as i want to bring attention to the issue and i want to come with the solutions oriented and i curious mind to it.
12:23 am
whether there or this board what you think is most productive is fine with me. but i think it is time with the chair's support i love to get it done quickly. >> i'm working through my thoughts here. upon aware of every request we make of the staff requires a lot of time and planning on your end. i'm just wonder whatting is the right level of conversation that makes sense to have. you proposed a very narrow piece of pavement around electronics and larger streets conversation we should have. may be work on what is the right resolution that feels relevant. >> of course this speaks directly to our budget vulnerabilities. this is our primary limitation. and so -- it gets to the learninger conversation the fund and priorities for limited
12:24 am
funding we have per innocent to an item later on the beyond everagenda today. >> i think and yea understanding this and the majority of the budgetary implications of paving does in the fall on our department the results do affect our department's ability to dot work. i think them be manage than i need to look at more than us. when is exciting is potential low doing a joint meeting with colleagues that is more complicates if this will be a factor this draw its on. and may be folks in the audience that could help us? i say, given vice chair borden's amendment i would be willing to expand the scope and budgetary
12:25 am
implications are the tracks. >> okay. i know you are noting this we have 2 follow ups from director yekutiel one revisiting remote comment and agendaizing streets and repaving. >> other board member in new or unfinished? >> with this, we'll go to public comment and the room. on item 6. new or unfinished items. i'm seeing 91. now the phone. >> we are move to remote comment not to exceed 10 minutes members wish to comment dial star 3. each will have 2 minutes. first speaker? >> hello, good afternoon this is bari toronto. i will try not to be inskulling i feel inactualitied. i representative taxi drivers a

member of the board of the san francisco taxi worker alines i don't live in san francisco. i'm regulated by your body and my rule how much money i make is controlled by your body considering i can't work the airport. on most shifts i don't have access to a medallion. what happens in san francisco concerns my the people i do represent. although i want to say this you don't really represent san franciscans yourself you are appointed by the mayor and approved by the supervisors you recent the mayor's interests. it but hearing public comment is very [inaudible] how it come in to you and the remote or in person. come in the city costing arm and leg considering that i make half as much money then and there in the pandemic due to electric of
12:27 am
access to the airport. by that even the supervisors questioned whether some of you represent the constituents the seat you were appointed to represent. and including small businesses. which small businesses and taxi drivers you have a direct responsibility over and control how much we make based on rules and regulations and park and traffic restrictions. to allow nenlts is ridiculous you will restrict public ment it is your duty as elected busied you take all public comment. thank you. >> thank you mr. toronto for your comments. next speaker, please. >> were this is edward mason

like to address the issue of paving. and i directed attention to the intersection of 24 and church. in 2018, the there was rail slapping that is when the rail dislodges from the under lying ties on the vehicle. and -- 4 years later. it was redone again. so you had in 2018 and 22. rail slapping of 24th and church. now we have lost the agency authorize before the pandemic 100 corporate commuter buses to use the white zone as 24th and church. this meant there is 100 buses gray hounds bus where you want to say big or double deckers crossing that intersection in the morning and like a number coming become in the evening.
12:29 am
so -- that is you know nonpoint source destruction. of our infrastructure that has gone on. so -- this will impact your budget. and we get remediation of the damage done by corporate bus it is mymation. and in the 4 year period. this is really a -- issue that needs to be locked at totally from the big picture. >> i bring this up to your attention, thank you. >> thank you. next speaker, please. >> thank you, chair eaken. she and her. i disagree. i feel hurt. i believe muni for everybody.
12:30 am
i don't live in san francisco. are because i like spengdz the summer in san francisco. it should be about longevity in san francisco or having the san francisco address. i mentioned to you not only i'm a rider of muni i'm a person of profound disability. i feel will as a person with disabilities i need to share not just with you but other upon transit systems i use. i don't use transit in california. i use it in nevada and denver and chicago and new york city, et cetera. i feel like i have been back handed. i wish you could all meet me. i have never abused the process of public comment. i would like to think i have
12:31 am
always spoken with you respectfully. whether in person or remotely. yes, i have worn a skirt to your meetings. not a problem with city hull security. so, i ask this you not upon lump mow in with those who may abuse the process and this is a risk. i don't abuse the process. i feel i should be heard i think i have something to add to the conversation. i believe respectful conversation is the way to build a better muni. i ask you not with draw my welcome, thank you. >> thank you. >> next speaker, please. hi. i wanted follow up on commissioner yekutiel's suggestion for joint commission with dpw in addition to pavement look at cleanliness they are a
12:32 am
good per in with us and find under plat forms are dirt and he can't access it. temperature is mta property and illegal for us to go under for safety reasons great to have a joint effort below the platforms not just on and around it to clean our streets. i know this is something that is important to him as well. thank you. item 7 the director's report. >> starting the director's report. chair eaken and vice chair borden brett jones the chief transit prirt who will upon prohibit the top safe driver award to members from the cable car division. mr. jones.
12:33 am
>> good afternoon. today, we are going to recognize an operator that amongst our operation's team needs no introduction. operator valley is our most senior operator. number 386 approximate he is literally providing excellent service longer than i have been alive. i -- that's apr. tremendous. the greatest ambassadors for public transit we had in our city and also the visitors who in to san francisco every year. work at cable car division at powell approximate market giving great customer information on all our visitors. i upon don't think that i have the words to fully express and acknowledge how much oliver means to the operation family
12:34 am
and mta special san francisco as a whole. i think there are some baby pictures of me with him. had my father worked here. you know he hen around a long time and represented us in a way we will never be able to duplicate. i will introduce to you mr. fred beller who leads the cable car operations works closely with oliver to give you more insight on the impact he has with coworkers and the rest his support team. thank you. >> thank you >> thank you, brent i'm fred butler many of you have not met me the division manager at cable car. this will come from the heart. oliver or oli has been here before a lot of us and the new reconstruction of the cable dar division hired in 1979 when they
12:35 am
were doing the reconstruction of cable car. he lit irrelevant has i hand in every one's training at cable car. . got operator there is that have been there for 20 years plus and me i was a cable car operator special helped train mow to be at cablear to stay. he is a staple at powell approximate market. he helps not only myself with things like to help move the cable cars along but help the tourists and tourists ask for him. every year and summer and spring. every christmas. i can't thank him am enough for being safe and to -- put the icing on the cake for 48 years. 41, really but 48 years of safe driving on i cable car. not a bumper bar. not did not hit -- this is the
12:36 am
most amazing feat you congress about had you think about rain and the cold. to do this is amazing and i can't say thank you enough. [applause] >> thank you mr. butler and mr. jones. would oliver like to -- okay. [laughter]. >> thank you so much for the wonderful recognition. it is a pleasure and an honor. i appreciate that. i lost cable car. i love san francisco. we have to [inaudible]. thank you [inaudible]. thank you. >> thank you.
12:37 am
[applause]. >> we are -- the muni safe driver awards. become in person this year. and of verbe one of 249 muni operators who will be honored for at least 15 years without a single crash. we have 249 transit operators on the streets of san francisco every day. carry san franciscans around who have not had a crash in 15 scombreers of those we have -- 35 operators, 5 priority who is have gone over 35 years without a crash. we have 12 operators between 30 and 34 years without a crash and many more. it is a great event if you are
12:38 am
joining us know our operators come dressed to the 9's. and so please, make it it is a fantastic event. i have other updates. light los angeles today. for anyone regular riders of the j or n lines you know that both zip vulnerability places in the subway. we thought they made progress in improving the reliability of the switch we had 6 dinlts in late february the witch lost connection to the transportation management. we had our teams out there trying to diagnose the problem. they think they have it down now. it is always a challenge when your problem is intermittant. our engine ooergs most hated term. and will be continuing to keep
12:39 am
track of it. it is a critical point in the entire net works when it is in the work being j & n riders walk a block from church and debose to church street station. we don't the problems there. i'm will sure for awful you paying attention to the mouse and social mead yaw know there have been a string of incidents on muni riders and staff threatened our harassed by other muni riders. these dinltss have been despicable. we are fortunate however that because of the fact that we have at least a dozen cameras on board everyone of the muni vehicles and audio. that we have been successful in collaboration with the san francisco police department in collecting evidence and in one
12:40 am
really critical case identifying the suspectful we are hope to bring additional news short low around those incidents. i'm not allowed say much more. expect reminds us all this reported yiem on muni remains at or near historic lows. but we know this we are having a rate of untreated mental health and, diction issues on streets and issues this happen on the streets of san francisco end up on muni as well. as the transit agency we are trying to make sure that all passengers feel safe. that including not just from reportable crime but also the kind of racism and 6 sxichl hate and threats of violence that
12:41 am
don't rise to an actual reportable crime but make our passengers feel unsafe and unwelcome this is true for women and girls and people of color come true for asian islander. we invest what we can and now have 28 muni ambassadors and continuing to hire more as you approve in the our last budget these are mostly san franciscans who grew up in san francisco neighborhoods we train in deescalation. their job is to make things be chill special know what to do when a situation rises beyond a point where the ambassadors can handle temperature we are investing under the leadership of chief security officer kim burr us and our muni safe program. and that includes a number of tools gender based violence on muni. starting with collecting data.
12:42 am
on issues that don't rise to the level a crime reportable to the san francisco police department. people are uncomfortable from actions of other passengers. that includes the muni feedback form. people report to us incidents than i made to feel unsafe as well as changing protocols of 311 will anyone can call in as they occur. again. don't rise to the level of a threat of violence for those you call 911. for issues where people are behaving in unacceptable ways 311 is there to help. >> yes. that is the, that is all i can detail out now on our progress. on fully app upon henneding and
12:43 am
prosecuting a couple of the perpetrators we are happy mou with our partnership with the san francisco police department. their use of the evidence we are able to collect. and also our partnership with jenkins who is understanding that the evidence this we have of inappropriate activity on muni make its easy for the da to prosecute and get convictions as appropriate. i will be continuing to update you all and the public regular low as we make progress. that is the end of my report. >> great. thank you. >> i wanted to circle become to mr. are lay and on behalf of the board thank you very much for your public service. 48 years is extraordinary. and everything you have done to make san francisco the city it simple appreciate having you here and recognize mr. jones and butler. thank you for rescue noising
12:44 am
your staff. a wonderful approach to your jobs, too. i was telling my colleagues back in my work how the of safe operator award's dinner is a highlight of the year. and getting to connect with the community of our operators. makes me feel more connected. thank you. >> director tumlin on the great concerns can we very well view a chance to discuss the mr. jones at the board workshop a bit. we have a very engaged community at sfmta. i had an experience there was someone with a knife to stap stab someone and harassing the public. when are we as riders of muni
12:45 am
supposed to do? in this situation? and support prirt who is are driving the bus what can we do if anything? calling 911 does not feel immediate at the moment. to create that safe environment we want to create. >> first thing to do is make don't do anything that endangers yourself. make sure you take care of yourself. there is more you can dom one thing to do is get yourself train in the deescalation techniques and self defense. deescalation training gives you to thes to make sure well, to deescalate so this we can take a wagz that could be violent and make it not violent.
12:46 am
the other thing that is important if you can reach the operator safely without put you go yorz in darrening the transit operator is well trinned in safety and deescalation techniques and has director rocontact with the management center who is in contact with all emergency service as well as our own inspectors and supervisors out in the feechld no one can get attention more quickly from what is needed this afternoon the transit operator. >> those are the immediate things. the other things that can be don help us is to record the ins devenlt and then to report it to us either using the muni feedback form. this sfmta.com/munifeedback or 311 including the app. those are great tools to allow us to collect the data so we
12:47 am
know how to allocate our limited resources for prevention. as well as any other law enforcement related actions we may need to take. >> thank you for going through that, colleagues other comments. director cajina. >> can you hear me? i had a question about transit ambassadors. are we focusing resources on lines. folk in stations. >> ambassadors near places where we have known issues. this is why data collection is important. many ambassadors are ride lines that are full of students -- who sometimes create incidents on muni but who are folks are
12:48 am
trained again in order for those demographics of people by age, gender and race. they are trained in techniques to deescalate without engaging with law enforcement. right. that is in the necessarily going to end well. that will is the group of ambassadors focused on a safe school commute and another team of ambassadors focused on lines we hear that there are problems. this ambassadors can best handle. in addition, we have our transit fare inspectors. the job to collect fare and have training around deescalation and getting people access to services they need. and having a presence on the vehicle. that makes everyone know that -- this needs to be a civilized space. >> the data we are using to
12:49 am
identify these hot spots, is this most low based on muni feedback form? this is work of the chief of security. she is trying to use the muni feedback form and 311. we still need more feedback from our customers in order to fully pop lit that data. in addition to that, you know we monitor social media. you know as we know when well is an incident on muni often time its is eli haved on social media so we can use that in order to track butune times only if in this social media post there is -- identification about time and location. another thing we ask is on every muni vehicle. there is a vehicle number that
12:50 am
is displayed inside and outside the vehicle that is the easiest way for you to track exactly when and where something occurred. all the information online, time, date, location, the more data you give us the easier it is for us to categorize it to use it to prioritize resources. >> great. my follow up question is what are we doing to let the public know this is when we need and this is how to give us that data i think you finish it is a psa we put on our bus or whatever it is. it would be helpful for folks to see like within their bus these other steps to take if you do this and for this messaging to be multilingual and clear. because i think even if it is a qr code that on the bus, scan it and that's what it is. something to make it easy for us to generate that data.
12:51 am
in a way that is user friends low for riders. and of course our riders are multilingual have different technology. ain'ts and so we need to account for those. as much as we generate the data that would be great and making easy for folks to help us gent rit that data would be essential. >> yes, i hope you are seeing the psa's inside our bus and trains. we got a lot of them out there. >> i don't know where to look and all of our psa's around campaigns like this, they are all multilingual. and they try to be culturaly relevant as well. >> this will make a wonderful news story on telemundo i know a lot of folks would use this resource if they knew it was
12:52 am
ready low available. >> i was on chinese language media to promote this and happy to go to telemundo as well. >> in terms of utilizing the pace i'm glad we have stuff on the bus inside or in a billboard. i feel the major problems we are having are a loss. silvity and loss of like decorum. and i think you know -- there is something as a city. and one agency and have rolls royce we leverage across city department we don't want dirty streets then people had in the lit are. streets have been cleaned in the morning and noon they are dirt. they are not cleaned sick times a day but what is not okay is this people feel they can dump stuff.
12:53 am
and there is no accountability and -- like there is peer pressure. not saying yell at people can be karens we don't hold how we expect to be treated and like there is a standard for being treated thaen is when we see on the bus and treasure in streets. i don't have the answer for how you solve this. there is a larger conversation the city needs to have about how we restore the civility. the beautiful place and diverse population the opportunity to show the world you can have that and be a vibrant, thriving, clean, civil city is important. fox news has a field day because than i have great values but incivil and dirt. this is not our values. and so i don't know how we utilize our rolls royce and work with the city and say it is not
12:54 am
okay to insult or hurt people this welcoming accomplice is being welcoming and desirous to everyone. whether it is the bus driver, the passengers next to you the business owner on your block or whatever and not okay to litter on the bus, which is a problem. litter on the streets. i don't have the answer but i think that we involve the real estate for advertising and we can elevate this with dpw and others. i feel like we don't try to tax thel and credit a will among the citizens to own and how we improve these things we have a society where half the people are in fear and half are disgusted. this is not moving ourselves forward as a city. i'm ask, don't litter on bus or streets. if you don't want to live in a
12:55 am
dirty place don't 3 trash on your floor in your house don't do it in the street. we all love to live here we can be fro and the people we want to be. let's not make ourselves in a place where we are hurting the environment around us whether from the run off of water or whatever being dirt and he polluting and not be insimple to people who are trying to make sure people get to work or accomplices they need to g. upon i don't know how we can inform that dialogue we have the rolls royce and figure out a way advertising campaign or whatever, i'm happy top help in any way. >> thank you. i'm tracking this. part of that leading not guilty social low responsible is about driving safely. >> director, yekutiel. >> i wanted to echo my colleagues and thanking you mr.
12:56 am
valley for decades. i think 2 more decades i have been on this earth. of service the ages. hope that did in the make you feel old. [laughter] it is meant to display honor to you. but there are tough things about the city and government. and alost ways our city is in a dark place right now. one of the greatest gifts of serving on this board is being able to meet people like you. people when we are constantly looking for the next best thing and giving up one thing for another. and may be i should talk about myself. am to actually meet people and look at people who spent helpful a century w to make one part of one city the best it can be. and truly the part of our system
12:57 am
that brings millions of people a year. so -- thank you for your tireless service. i appreciate you. i know everyone around me does. and to another 50 years. >> [laughter]. [applause]. >> okay. i have no comments from director hinze. welcome director heminger. move to public comment. in the room. >> on this item. >> hello i'm kim roadler thank you for your time and attention. the elkwanls of what you said take to the heart why i came down here.
12:58 am
and i think how can we preach civility we can model it and i came here thinking i'm pedestrian survivor we need public service announcements on bus and people like man whoa are so eloquent and great communication and entertaining to speak. to peek. you know then years ago when i was almost killed at second and market a couple blocks -- i survived by the grace of support of people like john lowell and random people. mta did not do anything they issued me a ticket i was unconscious. it is great. [inaudible]. but it is not about me. i met so many survivors and people who lost their family. this public service announcement
12:59 am
needs to be engaging as manny does every day at his extraordinary place and here, too. we -- i met our future mayor when i was on my walker. that summer look in my eyes you seat witness a lot who have suffered get people like mano the microphone and get the message out civility we are in it together. thank you for your time. >> thank you. jury room good afternoon. i'm an organizationing in the tenderloin. i appreciate the discussion around our values. and taking ownership of our transit system. this is the key to temperature i think we need to be part of the transit system. we need to make it seem like we own this transit system so there is ownership. i'm going to engage with
1:00 am
residence dentses and asking this question about what does it take for us to take care of our own transit system. there are idea this is came about like adopting a bus stop. again theically part is making us included in this transit system. i think that will solve a lot of issues discussed in the board from the trust discussion and the public meant discussion. i believe that if there is enough public engage am there is no need for people to spend 2 minutes to speak. those other things we need to consider. how do you involve riders in a decisionmaking -- body in terms how we run transit. thank you very much for your time. >> thank you. we'll open the phone for item 7. >> we'll move to remote public comment not to exceed 10 minutes. members of public wish to
