is a bit in there about making sure that sidewalks are good and curb ramps and everything else are to speck. the reason i bring this up is because, i mentioned before and thank you di78rector short set up meetings with me with city engineers. the current design of the citymeet ada standard and so despite the engineers told me drive ways for anything else and heard here the design of the lip is for drainage the fact remains they are not ada compliant e standard set forth. i'm concerned that we are throwing millions dollars after a single bid and looking at e documents the scope does not include adjusting driveways to be ada compliant. it seems a gr. mentioned again and again, riding down et with things of small wheels one has to vigilant of the quality of the driveway lip, because not only -u regular impassable with the current design and beyond the scope of makes it very dangerous to be riding which we are legally

over to [indiscernible] >> good name is director for potrero yard. just to pgive back ground, this is the first pu partnership that is part of a ladollar program that we are referring to as the building progress program, and the first of what we hope are ects to modernize our transit access to san franciscans across the city, as well as allowing us to better meet our mandate to fleet by 2040. talk about what that means. this improves efficiency. i guess i should potrero is a 109 year old bus facility. it is our electric trolley coach facility. it was originally built over a
11:43 am
hundred years ago and was orfor street cars, so it is highly inefficient because we different age of vehicles and maintenance required for the s project envisions not only to consolidate all bus fleet into this one facility, but also conditions for our operations and maintenance staff and then set standard for doing these types of provements at presidio yard and other yards in the future. also a key component, as i mentioned. achieving fully electric fleet by 2040 this helps us kind of start moving achieving that. additionally, by improving this facility, replacing it with a new state of the art able to increase the number of buses that operate out of this fuisility by roughly this says 54 but we that further and looking at joint development as a way of
11:44 am
also serving the community beyond improving transit operations. here you can see a rendering of the potrero yard and you notice a bus facility here, but we are also looking toup to 465 units of affordable and in fact, a portion of the workforc housing that is slated for construction we are looking to also have some x)for mta staff, including those operations and work at potrero yard, again increases efficiency, instead of many staff from long distances at hours where and other partner rt transit agencies are you will see in the foreground is alonet, there is the first phase of affordable housing is=i roughly a hundred units give or take affordable housing planned family housing at that site that would up
11:45 am
the point 4 acres. we are on the edge of districts 9 there are currently 6 transit operate out of potrero yard and i believe i cove already, but again, this is about 109 it is also not-has ?m seismically retrofited, so this is also a way to insure that the building is also safe, both for our afwell as the community. showing on again about 246 electric trolley are slated for storage and operation at means we'll have roughly i believe over 800 staff that will be working on different shifts in the building, may not all necessarily be in the building at the same time, providing ample facilities for them to be able to use and l house our future training facility. i alluded
11:46 am
to, climate action is a important part not just for electrifying our d fleet and improving efficiency of the building this does also meet our equity by improving transit to those that need it the most in the community. this serves communities throughout the citincluding the adjacent hill neighborhood. and then as i mentionedthe affordable housing will actually be not just the bryant street phas will be two additional phases on top of the bus th affordable and workforce looking at 465 total units with beof 776. there have been the unit count throughout the process of going through the environmental review, and part of the reason for that is, initially bryant street housing was seen as senior housing development, which would have included more
11:47 am
with the decision to transition that to a family housing buils did have to redu accommodate larger units, but the overall bedroom es to be consistent. a couple other things that are worth pointing out.of the amenities planned for the new potrero is much requested public restrooms for adjacent franklin square park as several commercial spaces for then in addition, alp# improve ment to the street surrounding this block. in terms of our outreach, i think it is important to note sw part of why we started this project with outreach and in 2018, throughout the process, we have insured that public engagement and public comment has this project
11:48 am
throughout the process. in fact, we ha neighborhood working group that meets monthly on everything going on with the project and theiris again, incorporated throughout. we have a present. the developer team both for the bus yard and the housing are also present in those meetings so had over 150 public meetings an the public to be engaged in the project and provide their feedback. so again, we started ocess back in 2017 and 2018. we first did an rfq for actual public private partner s in the project and then we ultimately bring on potrero neig which is spearheaded by [indiscernible] their office is part of the development team includes those eve enin the mission district who supporting this effort, both in terms of
11:49 am
housing as well as public outreach. our entitlements and review were approved by the board of sors and mta bord earlier this yoor, so we are preparing to re)@le for design build contractor who wird and so we anticipate cu being on schedule to bring that again to the board for approval of the project agreement fallowed by approval of the design build thin 90 days we expect the developer to mobilize to begin decommissioning the site, demolishing the existing structure and construction and so we do anticipate roughly a four from beginning to end where potrero yard would be back online early 2029. with the

11:51 am
achieving that pre-covid ridership and exceedg these kinds of improvements so we by efficiency and getting the vehicles on the streets for needed maintenance and will definitely support that. again, i think we have been on the see ridership increase, especially including these bus potrero. >> great. thank you. that is good news. 12 years to deliver, which i find excessive. we always want to commend the city on outreach, what you described is this is a neighborhood activist who appreciates and think it is public participate in city government and give feedback, soi don't know if that is what they are demand, but sounds excessive public and could be effecting the timing of this project. day your commission, your bo

in terms of height and how many units is considered acceptable to and so, couple things--so, again with the pre-development phase begin in late 2022, we really in the thick that and so fro2022 through 2029 for the size and scope we are quite on track actually to stick have originally set out for back in 201 facility framework was first developed. as far as the neighborhood working group, i think one thing didn't cover in the presentation, the project beyond the bus yard and the housing. there is also public art, other things that are kind of tied into this projecto insure the public is in th every step of the way, and then as far as question around which direction to start the project from. this had always been envisioned as a project first with any supporting delo
11:54 am
second, because this bus yard is really the key notto improving mta operation across the board, but start a domino future projects that we intend to deliver on a current property that the mta does own and operate and so, the housing was seen as something that the community of course are supportive that and i very much look seeing housing built there as well, but it very much has to be yard first fallowed by the housing. >> i'm not ques >> sure. >> speaking !.housing, you addressed the conversion from senior to families, but the dire situation of housing in san francisco, particularly the past ouand few months it ramped up and can't seem to build too project looking building more housing in the 465 units?we need more and this might be a place to put something since t thhasn't been built yet? entitled to 465 housing units and based on the ongoing outreach, as well as the work that the been doing
11:55 am
over the past couple years to figure feasible financially, the 465 is really pretty much at can be accommodated here. that being said, again, future sites that also we are looking development opportunities there to incorporate housing on future sites, but that is what can be accommodated there today. >> i realize the decision is made and late to the party and fully aware that, but i'm a taxpayer and citizen of the i'm still unclear, but think you tuesday public engagement, maybe covid, all of the above i would like to ask,how have expectations on this projecwhat is learned along the way and what are you asparticularly dismayed about and have any of those effected the project? >> i'll just mention, i think again e community throughout this process has
11:56 am
really shown through in the fact that when we went to both the the board of supervisors earlier this year with entitlements our environmental review, that that y without any opposition. there was no appeal pwe believe that was due to the fact e community and the public at large involved at every step of the way. we continue to post all the updates on our website.a e-mail list that goes out every a new out there and drafted and try to stay in front of the communication through every step and we believe that is paying off in terms of the support we are seeing for e project. >> anything that hasn't gone well we are benefit from? looking for lessens learned that could be applied to city projeblths. >> i think i have to get back to you. the fact we are fairly close to out for i think is a good sign. >> great is a very high profile project. a verygood

11:58 am
uniqueness of some -of coming to us and we are happy to make sure our role is really clear, and that often happens is people lose sight 06 who i thank outreach and trying to make sure folks know what the project is important and encourage our team to make sure it is means and the role we are playing, because with many multiple projects, i think about the civil grand jury report and those projects are so unique and how challenging sometimes one off and are delivered every last one proud to be partnered with you and will be good stewaand very accountable and have to point out challenges as where we can scale and replicate. i got my eye on a couple police stations, a fire station and others i love to see housi particularly workforce housing to bring police officers and reofficers, bring emergency officers all back to the city the every day,
