a guy's girlfriend dumps him right before he wins the lottery. who is sorry now? let us count the ways. look at this tape. this woman makes an acrobatic escape getting away from the man chasing her with a gun. oh, my gosh. what is happening there? first, though, putting politics aside, president obama and governor mitt romney used punch lines to make their points at a big charity dinner last night in new york. look at this. >> it's nice to finally relax and to wear what ann and i wear around the house. in the spirit of "sesame street" the president's remarks are brought to you by the number "o" and the number $16 trillion. i've already seen early reports from tonight's dinner. headline, obama embraced by catholics. romney dines with rich people. >> he did a good job with those jokes. president obama also got in some

zingers. >> as some of you may have noticed, i had a lot more energy in our second debate. i felt really well rested after the nice long nap i had in the first debate. i've been doing some thinking, and i've decided that for our final debate i'm going back to the strategy i used to prepare for the first debate. i'm just kidding, i'm trying to make axelrod sweat a little bit. >> i have to say mitt romney had some better timing there, didn't he? he was talking, the president was, about david axelrod, his campaign adviser. now at one point during the dinner do you see the two candidates were separated only by the archbishop of new york and romney joked that's why they were behaving. they're going to go head-to-head in their next debate on monday night. you know, investigators have found fungus in sealed vials at the massachusetts compounding pharmacy under question. now the place is linked to the deadly meningitis outbreak. the fungus was in a batch of steroid injections suspected in

the deaths of 20 people. the number of cases jumped yesterday to 257. now the cdc says that fungal meningitis has been reported across 16 states. man, the name of more than 1,000 boy scout volunteers accused of child abuse are now public. a judge forced the scouts to release their so-called perversion files. that group fought to keep them private. some of the alleged abuse victims say it was important to make sure that possible pedophiles are not still abusing kids. >> it's difficult to make a blanket statement for how individuals are going to feel about this. there are going to be some survivors who will be very empowered and very happy to see this information come 0 out. there may be some who will see this information come out, and it will be very difficult for them because it will actually have them -- they will be reliving, reexperiencing some of

the trauma and maybe bringing up memories many have kept buried for a long time. >> well, the 20,000 case files were released from 1965 to 1985. in other words that's the years that they pertained to. lawyers are fighting to make more of the recent files public. the group's current president says that the boy scouts are deeply committed to protecting children. you've got to come here and watch this woman's frantic attempt 0 to get away from a masked man in portland, maine. she was working at a smoke shop when the man came in with a gun. she jumped over a seven foot wall to get away from him. the poor thing. well, he chased her right out of the store so what gives? she was able to hide in the bakery across the street, but he got away. so police are not sure if the man was trying to rob the store or not or what the deal was. oh, my word. that's like shocking, isn't it? your big holiday dinners are about to get more expensive, the

police say martin was suspended three times and had been found with an empty marijuana baggy. and "the miami herald" reported women's jewelry and a screwdriver were also found in his backpack at one point which police said could be a burglary tool. prosecutors are not fighting the request. trayvon's family says the information is irrelevant and that an attempt to -- it's an attempt to demonize a victim. a 22-year-old whose girlfriend recently dumped him just won the lottery. so how do you like me now? now that i'm $30 million richer. he says that the lottery win is helping him get over that heartbreak. >> i didn't know what to do. i mom picked it up, started reading it, and she had to read it a few times to figure out we actually won. it was amazing. she broke up with me, but right now i'm not really worried about it. i was heartbroken at first but now i'm getting over it. >> now, mind you, we don't know why she broke up but still. his nickname is sonny.

yesterday that cost the company a ton of money. did any google users notice it? good morning. wroo good morning. this, robin, is look one of the stupidest things you can do on wall street. and it was an accident. >> oh, no. >> it was totally an accident but somebody -- this is called a fat finger. somebody hits the wrong button and a draft copy of google's earnings went out. that was not supposed to happen. the stock went down 9%. furious trading. finally the market refs blew the whistle and said time-out until everybody can get the news so that it's fair. when they blew the whistle again, so to speak and fair play came on, you know, the trading started again, the stock was down 9% because not only did they goof, the earnings were not very good. there was trouble there. the best part of it, and i mean the best part of people having a latch at google's expense, the

a 12-year-old girl shot an intruder who burst into her home. the girl was home alone when the guy kicked in the door. well, she, you know, had mind enough to grab a gun and ran into the bathroom. when the guy tried to open the bathroom door, honey, she shot him and called 911. police say she did exactly what she was supposed to do. she is talking about it but police do not want her identified yet. >> i was shaking. i didn't nope what to do. i was scared and sad and i was crying. i couldn't believe it was happening. i see a lot of girls on it tv that get their house broken into

through the adirondacks into northern parts of new jersey. in towards philadelphia, radar out of ft. dix, thunderstorms will be really in play for you later this afternoon. the same new york up to the north. more showers and then wrap that around again to the upper level low. the wind was really dancing around this yesterday, blowing down through the plains. the wild video out of oklahoma yesterday. this dust storm shut down parts of i-35. winds up to 40 to 50 miles an hour picking up all that loose dust. the rain and visibility down to zero at times so poor visibility, 20 to 30 car wrecks right around middle parts of oklahoma. that's what it looked like yesterday. what about today? we're not quite as strong. the rain is still there and pop-up showers, storms, maybe hail makers. air travel in just a couple minutes. >> did you say all hail? >> all hail for friday. you've probably heard of secret santas who will anonymously pay off people's layaways. it was a big story that we kept bringing repeatedly last year during the holidays.

please, and if you say no, it's a no. >> she has a point. police say the man has not br e broken any laws but is getting dangerously close to breaking some laws. cheerleaders in texas can use bible verses to try to pump up the crowd at high school sporting events at least this school year. they've been using banners like this one at football games. the school banned them because someone complained but yesterday a judge said they're okay for now n. june the court will decide if banning bible verses violates the cheerleaders' right to free speech. do we know if this is a public school or private school? i'm thinking it must be a public school otherwise i don't think it would be an issue. remember last year when people were paying off strangers' layaway bills? one store is encouraging to you do that this year. toys 'r' us, are they helping us in any way? yeah, anytime somebody comes in to be a secret santa, they

you know, we're hearing dozens of people have been killed in an attack in syria yesterday. fighter jets dropped bombs on a rebel town, and this is the amateur video that was posted on line showing explosions, and people searching through the rubble for survivors.

fascinating. all right, did you know 1 in 8 women in the united states will get breast cancer in her lifetime and october is breast cancer awareness month, so it is on a lot of people's minds and we talked with dr. travis stork from, you know, "the doctors" on tv about some of the myths in this live better now. i guess you can imagine with a disease as scary as breast cancer that falsehoods would come up, so what is a myth when it comes to breast cancer? for one, if you find a lump, then surely you must have breast cancer. >> well, eight out of ten lumps that women find are not breast cancer, maybe even more. and so the biggest issue is when a woman finds a lump, which if you're doing regular breast self-exams, that can happen, is to not fear it. i've met so many women who are afraid and fearful, so they'll feel something and they ignore it, but i'll tell you right now the thing to be fearful of is not getting something checked out. because the longer you wait if, god forbid, it is breast cancer, the longer you wait, the more

what a picture here. now we are waiting to hear official word about injuries. you can see the bus on its side. do you see the tracks in the median there as it apparently went off the road? this is about an hour out of indy. now we'll get you more details when we get them ourselves. it's an hour outside of indianapolis, and i wish bob were around and i'd ask him about the weather there. it doesn't appear that the roads were wet or excessively so at the time and we're not getting any information on a cause of that accident if the bus had swefbed to miss something and it caused the weight of the bus to roll. but you do see, it looks like people are tending to the actual bus, but i don't see -- i don't see victims coming out or, you know, like they'd just gotten there and need stretchers. it appears to have been maybe happening for a while now because i don't see a big rush to get to the bus and get people out, but we'll get more details to you as i get them.
