that breaking news narrowing the search for the source of the legionnaire's outbreak. good evening. i am sandra bookman. joe has the night off. the amar'e nounsing the city is closer to pinpointing where the legionnaire's outbreak began. five new locations in the south bronx. the mayor says there have been no new cases over the past four days. eyewitness news reporter renee stoll live at the office of emergency management headquarters r mayor de blasio just wrapped up here. he did give us a list of five new sites that have tested positive. they include a verizon facility,

new york city housing courts, the bronx hall of justice, and a post office and samuel governorrers high school. they have been disinfected. the cause is one of the five original sites tested positive. they don't know if it was one or more of those. the office is trying to figure out why this occurred now. >> this is literally unchartered territory and it's very important that we acknowledge that. we have never seen an outbreak of ledge theirs like this in the history of new york city. >> reporter: the outbreak deemed a wake-up call by new york city mayor bill de blasio with 108 cases, according to him. his office didn't know how many cooling towers are in the south bronx or where they are located until now. the towers are where the bacteria grows and can spread casing a type of ammonia. >> we have used aviation, a variety of methodologies to canvas a part of our city looking for something we haven't

had to look for before and then meted oddically going build i by building. >> reporter: tomorrow all buildings with possible cooling towers will have been inspected and disinfected with 200 people working around the clock. health officials say the cause. outbreak started at one of five sites tested. the de blasio listed new buildings that were test nd and had the bacteria, including government buildings and one location samuel gompers high school. under the direction of the governor, state commissioner dr. zucker arrived to the facility to test for the bacteria that's already claimed ten lives in the city. you can see the mass tester dip into the cooling tower's water. the test will take at least a week for results. >> it gives me pause. >> reporter: jim jefferson was checking out-of-pocket hospital after a four-day stay. although there is in indication

the facility's cooling towers are contaminated with legionella, it's still concerning. >> you are talking legionnaire's at my age? of course it gives me pause. >> reporter: hospital staff says they following strict guidelines with the cooling towers. >> they got an order from the new york city commission are to sanitize their towers. so we are in the process of doing that. but we have a great maintenance programs where we clean the towers twice a year. >> reporter: de blasio tells us as we speak officials are trying to go over and make new guidelines of how they keep track of the cooling you towers and how and when they are cleaned. we have more on our website at 7online.com. reporting live at emergency management headquarters here in brooklyn renee stoll, channel 7 eyewitness news. we also have breaking news in manhattan. a man is in critical condition after stabbing and attempted robbery.

it happened on west 141st street at hamilton place in hamilton heights. eyewitness news reporter lucy yang is at the scene with details. lucy. >> reporter: sandra, we are on west 104th street in hamilton place where you see on the south side of the intersection is a festive block party. on the north side of this intersection was a crime scene. detectives were called to the area this afternoon, according to one eyewitness news. a man was stabbed in the chest with an ice pick. he was rushed to the hospital. we are waiting for more word on his condition. i could could tell you when we arrived here there was a great deal of blood on the it has since been cleared up. the eyewitness news believes the stabbing was over a cell phone robbery that ended with much bloodshed. police have not yet confirmed the motive as they now investigate the details of this stabbing. i can tell you residents out here who were celebrating today were left pretty shaken by this outbreak of violence.

on my game. and this tweet. to him we belong and to him we shall return. new information this evening in the case of an infant found dead outside a queens apartment building. its mother is now charged with second-degree murder. police arrested 21-year-old rasheeda somehowry today. the baby boy was found in the concrete courtyard building in richmond hill before dawn friday morning. investigators believe the 20 day old was thrown out of a fourth floor window. two parents are under arrest after police say they left their children in the car while they hit the slot machines. police say a security guard at resorts world casino in queens spotted the six and eight-year-old girls alope in an suv before midnight last night. authorities found the girls' mother and father inside gambling. the pair are now charged with endangering the welfare of children. new at six search and rescue teams are looking for a missing

kayaker in the hudson river near the spot where a kayaker drowned back in april. the dutchess county sheriff's department says a man and woman went into the water while paddling near mills mansion this morning. the woman made it out to shore but the man is unaccounted for. that area is about 30 miles north of where vinson vivafor drowned in april. his fiancee is charged with murder. newark activists took part in a multipart anti-march and rally today. marchers started out from the five wards. they came together in unity at broad and market streets in downtown newark. >> this is not something that's just we are coming out here to march, but we are coming out here in unity. it doesn't matter what background you report. we are here as newarkers. we are representing the city of newark as a whole. >> the mayor's office organized

a federal clean-up crew has accidentally caused a big and west. roughly one million gallons of wastewater began leaking out of an abandoned colorado goldmine last night turning the river which flows into new mexico a yellow orange. it contains dangerous metals, lead and arsenic. people are being told to avoid contact with the water. clean-up efforts are said to be underway. passengers and crew on delta, on a delta flight are praising the pilots who savely landed a damaged plane in denver. this flight from boston to salt lake encountered a powerful storm. it was hamrd by so much hail the windshield was cracked which limited the pilots' visibility. it also accidented the nose cone system. passengers were terrified as the landing. >> people kind of holding hands

and others that were crying. there were some kids that were crying. i was nervous. i was messaging my wife, actually. hey, this is pretty scary. >> well, the plane did manage to land safely with only one passenger suffering a minor injury from the turbulence. the faa is now investigating the incident. french military photos show the search from the air for more possible pieces of malaysian airlines flight 370 and a search is concentrated on and around the island where a wing part was found last week. malaysian officials say paint color and maintenance record matches, prove that it was part of the wreckage from that missing jetliner. the boeing 777 disappeared in march 2014 with 239 people on board. donald trump not backing down. even though his latest comments about a female journalist and some of her questions during thursday's gop presidental

dozens of dragons made their way across the lake in flushing meadows park today. it's the 25th anniversary of the dragon boat festival in queens. 180 teams from around the world are competing for prizes, including tickets to hong kong. i want those. this year the event celebrates the year of the ram with boat races, traditional chinese food, art, music, and martial arts demonstrations. it continues tomorrow. and it was a perfect day. perfect temperature. perfect everything.

going down as perhaps the best defender of his era. his daughter will speak on his behalf. the nfl season really gets underway tomorrow with the first game of the season. the hall of fame game between the steelers and the vikings while the rest of the league continues training camp with preseason games not too far away, which includes the giants who have been battling themselves since camp opened a week ago. this week they meet the bengals friday in their first exhibition game. >> i am going to look at it like a game. you know, guys are going to be fired up. so i look at it like it's a preseason game. >> i know that the guys are going to be fired up. it's going to be chippy because, you know, we are not teammates. >> while the jets hit the field forepreseason game number one thursday night in detroit it will be a chance for the team to see where it stands in training camp. already there is calls for optimism among the defensive largely expected to be one. best in the entire nfl. the players feeling confident in the new system already.
