tv Jimmy Kimmel Live ABC August 19, 2015 11:35pm-12:37am EDT
11:35 pm
11:36 pm
i'm jimmy, i'm the host of the show. thank you for watching. i'm glad you're here. we have a very good lineup of guests for you tonight. queen latifah is here, john mcenroe is here. and muse trick minimumic from mumford and sons. i went to see mumford and sons at the forum monday night, great show. afterwards we went backstage to say hello to the band. on my way out there's a big bowl of apples and i grabbed an apple from the bowl. and i started eating the apples. as we're leaving my wife said, i have to go to the bathroom. i figured i'll go too, it's a long ride home. as i opened the men's room door i realize i have a problem. i have to undo my belt and, you know, the buttons on the fly, and i can't do that with one hand. i also don't want to set the apple down in the bathroom. this is where resourcefulness koochls in. i jam the apple into my mouth. like a suckling big. pig.
11:37 pm
and i unbuckle everything. and as i stood there at urinal with an apple in my mouth i realize how ridiculous this must look. so i then went into my pocket and i got my phone and i took a picture of myself. and i believe we have it. yes. [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] i don't usually take selfies. i felt weird about taking a selfie but i felt weirder about asking somebody in the bathroom to take the picture for me. a very famous artist commemorated the moment with a painting. that is me. in a derby. [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] so that was fun. here's the thing. when i'm at a concert i cut loose. sometimes i'll have two or three apples in one night. the food and drug administration at long last has approved the first-ever prescription pill to enhance a woman's libido, a woman's sex drive. [ cheers and applause ] really?
11:38 pm
i should probably buy stock, i guess. adie, which is nice for women named adie, it's like a guy being named viagra. it's been nicknamed pink viagra. they say it's like watching "magic mike" in a bottle, it's incredible. it's interesting how the drug actually works. you don't take it yourself. what you do is you give the pill to your husband and it makes him do the dishes, then you have sex. [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] we hit the streets to ask women what they think. >> the agency approved the first prescription medication to boost the female libido. it's called addy. >> i wish it was there when my husband was alive, he would have enjoyed me taking it. >> jimmy: i bet he would have, i really do.
11:39 pm
probably would have killed him if he wasn't gone already. you know, not everyone in the medical community is excited about addy. critics argue the benefits aren't worth the side effects, including fainting, dizziness, and sleepiness. although one doctor, a well-known obstetrician from brooklyn, he's got no problem with the side effects at all. [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] he thinks it's just fine. isn't it weird a male libido pill came so long after one for -- most men can have sex at the drop of a hot, literally, if a sombrero fell on the ground could have sex with it. yet 17 years after viagra came out for this one. if you're in a relationship with a man has to take a pill to get an erection and a woman has to take one to get interested in that erection? maybe just watch tv instead. [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] there's a lot of good shows.
11:40 pm
meanwhile -- i've been following this story with the hackers and ashley madison, the website. last month these hackers, i don't know who they are, they're anonymous, announced that they breached the ashley madison website. this is the website where they say married people go to find other married people to have affairs, billed as the world's leading married dating service for discreet and counters. hackers got hold of what appears to be all of the user information. names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, sexual preferences, for 32 million users. 32 million. there are only 150 million men in the united states. and half of them are either children or old. so if you're wondering if your husband's name is on there, yes, it is on there. [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] he's probably sweating right now. the funniest part of the story is that, according to the hackers, members of the site were 95% men. almost no real female profiles. it was a bunch of men sending
11:41 pm
messages to fake women who wouldn't respond to them. so these guys are about to get busted for signing up being on a website have an affair, when there's almost a 0% chance of have an affair. this is why we need the addy pill, get the numbers up for the ladies. a lot of kids have themed birthday parties, most kids. i've never heard of one that is as unique as what i'm about to show you. prairieville, louisiana. it involves a birthday party with a 2-year-old with unusual taste. >> a toddler became so obsessed with a local personal injury theme. >> kind of cool. it started with morris barts' ads which play on television. >> hurt in a car wreck? you know what to do. 525-[ bleep ] right now. >> grayson's mom says her sun is such a fan, whenever bart comes on television, grayson will stop and watch the commercial. these are pictures of the
11:42 pm
toddler watching from home. for gray son's 2nd birthday mom >> with a t-shirt. >> a morris bart-themed party edd party. >> jimmy: joining us on the wall of america on our cisco screen, grayson. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: hi, grayson. grayson, we're on television. >> he wants to talk to you. jimmy? >> jimmy: grayson, do you love morris bart? ah. all of a sudden he's interested. huh? hey, what is the story with this? why does he love this personal injury attorney? >> i don't know r. i guess they just have really good advertising. it started when he was about 3 months old. my mother started watching him for me.
11:43 pm
my husband had to go back to work. >> jimmy: yeah? >> my mom told me that it's the weirdest thing, that he loves the bart commercials. okay, well maybe he'll be quiet. >> it's my bart. >> it's your bart now? >> jimmy: who came up with the idea to have a morris bart-themed party? >> that was my idea. >> jimmy: that was your idea. when you went to the bakery and asked the people there to make a morris bart cake, what was their reaction? >> they thought i meant bart simpson. >> my bart! >> jimmy: oh, they did. then you explained. did you hear from morris bart himself? >> we did. >> bart, bart, bart, bart, bart! bart! >> jimmy: you know what, i think he wants morris to sue you for that haircut. oh, too much? is it too much? could you hold on for one second? okay, now turn that off for one sec.
11:44 pm
they can't hear me now. so here's the thing. we want her to do something fun for grayson. we got the actual morris bart, the lawyer, he's outside their house right now, he's going to walk in and surprise them. they don't know it. let's put them back up. hi, okay, can you hear me now? >> yeah. i can. >> jimmy: sorry, i needed to talk to the audience. so you had the cake made. what happened to grayson by the way? he's gone? >> yeah. he left me. >> jimmy: oh, he did, okay. well, we have a little bit of a surprise for him. and for you as well. right behind you, if you look -- >> bart, bart, bart! [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] >> hi! >> jimmy: that's morris bart. yeah, if we could go in front of the camera that would be great. that's a bag morris is carrying.
11:45 pm
oh, look at that. >> grayson? >> jimmy: is grayson excited? morris? >> he's so excited. >> he still hasn't met him. come meet bart, baby. >> jimmy: this is why we have cameramen in television in general. where is grayson? >> well, i've got a minion. >> jimmy: you brought him a minion? morris, you're spitting on yourself. >> oh, no, sorry. >> jimmy: there he is. grayson. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: grayson, are you excited about being morris? >> who's got you? >> am i morris bart? >> that's your bart. >> he was excited when i came in. >> yeah. >> jimmy: i think we just exploded his little brain is what happened. >> yeah, he laid on the ground for a second. >> jimmy: he did? >> he fell down. >> jimmy: i bet you get that
11:46 pm
reaction a lot, morris, right? >> well, i don't know. this is the first for me. >> jimmy: you brought a little gift for grayson, isn't that correct? >> i did bring a gift. hopefully he'll end up being a lawyer on television one day. >> jimmy: i hope so, i hope so. >> got to have -- he's got to have the look. >> jimmy: there you go. that's very nice. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: thank you, grayson. thank you, morris. thank you, erin. >> thanks, jimmy. >> thanks so much. >> jimmy: i'll leave you guys to spend the evening together. thanks so much. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: we have to take a break. when we come back from the break, i have video of the group mumford and sons from way back when they were a boy band. and so stay with us or all will be lost. we'll be right back. [ cheers and applause ] who says families have to share data? these guys, that's who but at t-mobile you can get four lines with up to
11:47 pm
10 gigs of 4g lte data, each no sharing and just $30 bucks a line 10 gigs for each and every one of you we'll even pay your family's switching fees up to $650 bucks per line so you can get 10gigs for all, today and it's only from t-mobile turn up the summer with bacardi lim_n. try the all new bacardi tangerine.

[ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: welcome back. queen lateefifahlatifah, john mcenroe, music from mumford and sons is on the way. on a personal level i'm glad the guys from mumford and sons are here. we used to hang all the time. we were in a band together in the '90s. you remember our band? >> guillermo: yes, yes. >> jimmy: do you remember the name of the band? >> guillermo: no, no. >> jimmy: do you remember our big hit single? >> guillermo: a little bit, yeah. >> jimmy: a little bit. for those who don't there's a documentary that tells our story, our history. i thought it might be fun to show you a little bit, just a little bit of that tonight. >> mumford and sons. international superstars who have captivated audiences with their unique blend of folk, rock, and bluegrass. but their path to stardom began
11:52 pm
with the very different look, sound, and name. >> we were -- we were really young. >> wow, that was a long time ago. >> look, everyone has an awkward stage. >> i've put it behind me. i don't really want to revisit, honestly. >> the year was 1998. and the band was -- >> ladies and gentlemen, mumtown! saying go go saying go go go i'm saying go girl go girl >> across america screaming teens thronged shopping malls to see their mumtown idols. benji. t.d. winston. markey marcus. and mum. >> jimmy: they used to call me mum. >> mum because he wasn't allowed to sing. >> jimmy: that's not why they
11:53 pm
called me mum, no. i don't remember that. >> the worst singer ever. >> it just kind of stuck. hey, mum, shut your mouth. >> jimmy: yeah, it did. stuck. >> his singing was -- what's the word -- [ bleep ]. >> we took a vote, he was not allowed to sing. >> barred from singing jimmy became mumtown's chief lyricist, responsible for such hits as "package boy you." i got a package for you and i'll deliver tight special affairs inside of your dress i've got a package for you girl >> "package for you, hated that one." >> embarrassing. >> jimmy: i love that one. i wrote that song about my mother. >> the worst one, the worst one of all -- >> omg, uhot.
11:54 pm
omg uhot i lov girl >> jimmy: you know who wrote that song? i d-i-d. that was my song. >> as mumtown's popularity soared the band's hatred for jimmy's songs grew, reaching a breaking point with the inexcusable "i am my heart." i am my heart down on its knees spreading its wings begging you please >> wait, wait, that doesn't make -- no, mum, this doesn't make any sense, man. >> jimmy: what do you mean? >> how can a heart have knees? >> a metaphor? >> jimmy: hearts have little legs. they tuck them in. they tuck them under. >> wings? >> jimmy: yeah. >> so we are our own heart? >> jimmy: yeah. >> on its own knees? so where -- >> jimmy: okay, i'm glad somebody gets it.
11:55 pm
>> no, no, no, no -- >> this doesn't work. >> i'm asking. >> jimmy: i'm telling you, yes, that's exactly right. it's whatever you think it is. >> you've deluded me. >> i've going to tell you, reality is harsh around here. >> egg shells. >> jimmy: that's when i decided to do my open thing. i was like, sorry, guys. i'm going solo. and they, you know -- they beg med to stay. begged me to stay but it was too late. >> please stay. >> please stay. >> don't go, mum. >> we need your musical genius. >> no, not that bad. >> hey, what's that? huh. >> with jimmy gone from the bound, mumtown became mumford and sons.
11:56 pm
coming up later, jimmy's rapid spiral into a life of addiction, self-mutilation, and petty crime. "behind the mumfords" continues. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: that is not how it happened. we have a good show tonight, music from mumford and sons, john mcenroe, and be right back with queen latifah! dvd and blu-ray september 1st. please welcome queen latifah! [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: very good to see you. is it my imagination or are you getting taller? seems like you are. >> these do that. >> jimmy: okay, all right. >> just a little something on the heel. >> jimmy: congratulations on your emmy nomination. >> thank you so much. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: you really earned it. because you did your first-ever nude scene in "bessie." were you nervous? >> i did, i did, dit, i did. we shoot in atlanta, you know. >> jimmy: it was -- is that something that you knew about going into the film? >> yeah. definitely knew about it going into the film. it was always part of it. i mean, i would crack jokes with the director sometimes and say -- because she had this image on her wall of what she wanted the scene to look like. and so i'd come into the office
12:03 am
and say, you sure you still want to do that? really? really? do you really need to do that scene? i was messing with her. >> jimmy: you were comfortable. did you go to the auditions nude? [ laughter ] >> and i had to audition three times. >> did you really? you did not have to audition, did you? >> no. >> jimmy: no, no, no, no. >> no. >> jimmy: you'd have to audition for yourself. >> i was definitely in a mirror testing myself. my friends call me naked girl. >> jimmy: my friends call me naked girl! >> see? you'd be fine with it. you know what? i don't need clothes. i'm just one of those people, you know, when you come home, just take everything off. i go to the bathroom naked. you know you go to the bathroom, just take everything off. >> jimmy: yeah. i'll go outside naked every once in a while. >> for sure. i was one of those kids that -- it's when i knew i was a girl. i was kind of upset about it. i loved having my shirt off as a kid. you know? >> jimmy: right. >> i would have no clothes on. and like one of my father's hats. it was my look.
12:04 am
i'm a hat girl. i'm not a clothes person, i suppose. yeah, it would be that kind of thing. but no, the scene -- i mean, to me it was one of the most important parts of the film. and when you watch "bessie," which i hope everyone will, if you haven't already, i really felt like it was kind of a day off, actually. >> jimmy: really? >> it was quiet in the room, it was warm. there was only the cinematographer, director, script supervisor, and myself. when you've been running downstairs and fighting in clubs and bars and getting dragged by a truck, it was like -- aah. >> jimmy: yeah, that all happens in the movie. >> all. [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: speaking of bars and clubs. last time you were here, we just touched on this, didn't get a chance to talk about it a whole lot, you were talking about your early days starting as a rapper, traveling around the country. did you even have a tour bus? >> no, we definitely had tour
12:05 am
buss at some point for longer tours. >> jimmy: later on. >> some thing wet took a van. we'd take a van. east coast runs, a bunch of colleges you could play, you just piled everybody in a van. because it was cheaper. we couldn't afford a tour bus for those things. one time i remember we drove -- we had a show at u-mass. university or amherst or something. we drove to amherst, new york, and we were supposed to be in amherst, massachusetts. and we got to the college and we're like, where is it? it's not really popping around here. so we're asking students. where's the show? they're like, what? where are you? we showed somebody the paper. they're like, you're at the wrong school. you need to drive -- so we had to like jump back in the van and drive another hour and a half, two hours, haul behind my manager's brother paul was our driver and we got there just in time to make the show. >> jimmy: stupid paul.
12:06 am
paul always screws everything up. >> geez, paul sclal! paul's now a teamster. he got really good after that day, really good. he's our wheelman. >> jimmy: as an east coast rapper were were you part of rapper? at that time it was east coast versus west coast. >> it wasn't really like that. that. we kind of had a lock on it being on the east coast. we had a good run at it. i didn't really get involved. plus we always knew everybody. >> jimmy: did you see "straight outta compton"? >> jimmy: being a part of that at that time, did you feel it was accurate? >> i mean, honestly, i was watching it and having flashbacks the whole movie. i was there during that era. and i didn't have that west coast issue because i did so many shows here in california. like the skateland usa. another skating rink out here. one was a crips area, one was a >> jimmy: is that right?
12:07 am
>> but i'm switzerland. what i mean? >> jimmy: you did. >> i was neutral so i got to go to everywhere. greg mack, who would play on k-day, they played my records from the beginning. even though i had two records out, an "a" and "b" side, i did so many shows. i learned the etiquette. luckily i had friends who taught me how to move and shake in california. like tone lope. >> jimmy: tone lope taught you how to move and shake? >> taupe loanone lope is connected. >> jimmy: were you the inspiration for any of miss usic? >> we did tour a lot and there was a lot of wild thing performed, but no, i don't think i had anything to do with it. ice t showed me the ropes, the original gangsta rapper. yeah colors" and all that. >> jimmy: sure. >> so ice -- we would do a lot of shows together so ice showed
12:08 am
me how to move and shake. places to go, where to be what not to wear, you know. >> jimmy: wish ice would have taken me under his wing. i didn't know where to go, what to wear, my colors were off. >> oh my gosh. that's how you get killed. >> jimmy: that's right. queen latifah is here, everybody. the movie is called "bessie." we'll be right back! 12:17 am
i have fought things and never used them before. >> jimmy: what have you bought that you have not used? >> i think another trip from another auction. one of the coolest things -- you did a great job that night. >> jimmy: thank you. >> you guys did a great job for a wonderful foundation, shout-out to susan finegar. this is something my mom is affected by so i had to be there, raise extra money. but i like, you know, going to charity events. i was at alicia keys' black ball, i support her organization every year. and i sat at the table. i kind of went to the back. the auction started. and this -- sitting next to this white guy, i don't know this guy. he seemed chill. somebody's hosting the auction, auctioning a piano alicia keys and jay-z performed "new york" on the grammys. >> jimmy: wow. >> like this piano with the new york skyline. and so he looks like, you want to get this piano? i'm like, yeah, let's start bidding.
12:18 am
we start trying to get the room to bid on this thing. we get it up to like $150,000 for this piano. >> jimmy: wow. >> and so we pay this. then i find out that the guy who i'm bidding with was chris martin from coldplay. >> jimmy: you didn't know him? >> it took me a second to figure out. chris martin from coldplay! he pays $100,000 on the piano, i pay $50,000. he gives me the piano. >> jimmy: wow. that's very nice. >> he is the salt of the earth as far as i'm concerned. >> jimmy: god bless chris martin. >> and alicia's foundation got the money. >> jimmy: nice. queen latifah, everybody. go see her movie "bessie." on dvd and blu-ray september 1st. be right back with john mcenroe!
