rosenberg of spring valley. for the coast guard auxiliary when it went down in a field in cresskill yesterday afternoon. he and his passenger injured. both men are expected to survive. ntsb investigators are working the crash. new details on a deadly fire in new jersey. investigators have ruled the death of a couple and their two young sons found in a burning home a murder suicide. firefighters found the bodies of 35-year-old linden b. hairy, 29-year-old amanda morris and their two sons, 4-year-old brian and 7-year-old brandon in a second floor bedroom in long branch wednesday. investigators believe he shot morris and their children and turned the gun on himself after setting fire to their home. detectives are still piecing together the details of a shootout. the shootout happened on jefferson between evergreen and bushwick avenues in bushwick. dray clark with the latest.

>> neighbors say it sounded like the wild wild west as police faced off with a suspect who would not back down until he was put down with a bullet. the gunfire started at 1:14 this morning, all of it captured on this home summers camera. dozens of shots in rapid succession exchanged between police and a 27-year-old suspect that police say was using this 40 caliber handgun. >> it was very scary. we rolled off the bed and we stayed down. it seemed like it was right outside our window. >> two officers in plain clothes riding in an unmarked police car rushed to the 1200 block of madison avenue where a 52-year-old man had been shot in the arm. the victim described the shooter to the officers, and jefferson and bushwick avenue fire. this picture shows where one of unmarked car. >> at first i thought it was

this after davis was found in contempt of court and sent her to jail, a punishment that some of her opponents feel is too harsh. >> at least for this area. >> civil rights are civil rights and they're not subject to belief. >> davis says that her religious beliefs prevent her from issuing licenses to gay couples. the judge says that davis will stay in jail until she agrees to uphold the law or resigns. davis says she will not do either. new at noon, the u.s. unemployment rate tumbled to a 7 year low ending at 5.1%. according to the labor department, only 173,000 jobs were added in august, but the government adjusted the numbers for job and july raising the average to 221,000 jobs a month. the hiring boom could prompt the federal reserve to raise interest rates for the first time in ten years. that's got people on wall street worried, right now a lot of red on wall street.

the judge lifted the four-day suspension given to new england's quarterback tom brady. brady is free to play in the season opener against the pittsburgh steelers next thursday. brady had no comment yesterday and he did not play in last night's preseason game against the giants. in hungary, hundreds of migrants denied access to trains to western europe have begun walking towards germany. officials say many of the migrants who have been stranded at a train station in budapest for days have now left on foot. also, hundreds of migrants in a standoff with authorities have budapest. european leaders are struggling to handle the surge of refugees from war-torn regions of the middle east and africa. the american airman who helped take down a gunman on a train in france is now home in california. airman first class spencer stone arrived during the night at travis air force base near sacramento. he was greeted by hundreds of

cooler as a front has come through the area. it feels very comfortable outside. even though these clouds could hang around for much of the afternoon, the haziness to the atmosphere. the camera's already bouncing. there's a little breeze which adds to the comfort. we're currently at 80. winds are calm at central park and the pressure is on the rise. a front came through here and has changed the winds really to the northeast, and so that's going to keep us cool for the rest of the afternoon, normal high is 80. i think we can do a few degrees better than that. the record 99 set back in 1929. we could actually be in record territory in the seven day stretch. i'll explain that. the heat has not gone for long. comfortable. upper 70s so far for white sussex. so far newark and trenton, central new jersey, those are the spots we've seen the top temperatures come in. the wind speeds not too dramatic, an 18 miles an hour wind speed for bridgeport. getting that easterly component and northeasterly component to the wind, that's what's giving us the comfort factor.

heat index is not off the charts. the feels like temperature reflecting what we have on the thermometer. little bit muggy, but it's not humid anymore so that's the front and the influence of it. as far as clouds go, a nice patchy in monmouth county, union beach, sandy hook, some of these spots are cloud free for now. they've got a little bit of haze, none of the heavy clouds hanging over. as we go throughout the afternoon, consider yourself lucky if you get the clouds parting and a nice little sun break. other spots could see sprinkle south and east of the city as we get through the afternoon. high pressure builds in, hack to beautiful tomorrow, sunshine and beautiful conditions. get ready for a beautiful weekend from the catskills to the hamptons to the jersey shore. 70s for saturday, then we climb into the upper 70s to low 80s before we get hot again on monday, and that's going to be the story for the city and the shore and the higher elevations. our temperatures returning to summer-like numbers. overnight goes clear with skies comfortable, 65. tomorrow temperatures are

caught on camera, shocking video of a fast food worker yanked by her hair through a drive through window, a quick warning, the video is graphic but the worker will be okay. it began when four girls in a car got into an argument with a worker at the mcdonald's on louisiana.

police say one of the girls, 17- year-old kaitlyn holland grabbed the 16-year-old victim. she pulled her through the small window and punched her several times. the suspect then posted a video of the incident online. holland and three other girls were promptly arrested. a california family comes home and here's some rattling from the window sill, an unusually long rattlesnake made its way into the house, possibly when the family was loading the car earlier and left the front door open. after a good scare, the fire department was called and removed the 4-foot long snake. fortunately no one was hurt. david. >> much more news in our next half hour, new information coming in about day care workers accused of creating a kids fight club. eyewitness news is coming right

court without saying a word. >> 22-year-old erica kenny. >> after these charges how do you plead not guilty or guilty? >> 28-year-old chanese white. >> not >> neither of the former light bridge academy teachers assistants have an attorney yet. both encouraged of having kids fight each other, kids they were charged with caring for at this day care academy in cranford. they made their first appearances this morning. >> from the township of cranford charging you for the endangering the welfare of the children, charging you with one count cruelty and neglect of assistant teacher. >> kenny faces additional charges of cruelty and neglect. the union county prosecutor's office says because she recorded the august 12th fight on her cell phone and shared it on the snap chat social media website. someone grabbed it before it disappeared and it reached law enforcement.

light bridge academy released a statement saying both kenny and white were terminated. while no children were physically harmed during this incident, we have a zero tolerance policy for anyone who acts in conflict with the core value of light bridge academy the safety and well being of children. both were released without bail. kenny and white are due back in court october 15th. in elizabeth toni yates channel 7 eyewitness news. new at noon, officials in newark are honoring the police officers who worked on a wild carjacking case. mayor ros s are baraka. six men went on a crime spree involving several robberies and a shooting. they led police on a car and foot chase which ended with two of the suspects barricaded in an abandoned home. >> our men and women did an excellent job that day in

making sure that that incident ended safely not just for the perpetrators but our officers. >> the two barricaded men surrendered and police arrested them. a sixth suspect died from injuries he suffered in multiple crashes with parked cars while trying to flee from police. new details on the recovery of the woman who survived an on air shooting that killed two journalists in virginia. vicki gardner's condition continues to improve and she got a visit from her dog at hospital this week. gardner's family posted a picture on facebook saying she is taking on physical therapy with determination. gardner was doing an interview with reporter alison parker and cameraman adam ward when they were fatally shot last wednesday. now to vote 2016, the campaign trail heating up as the summer cools down. vice president joe biden talking about possibly entering the race as donald trump gets some heat for a phone

lockdown has been lifted at a correctional center in jersey after a health scare officials feared could be ebola. the mercy county correctional center was under lockdown after a prisoner who had recently been in liberia became ill with a high fever. there were concerns at the jail he might be infected with ebola, but that country is no longer on the watch list for the virus and has not reported a case since july. the world lost some laughter one year ago today with the death of a comedic icon. that would be joan rivers.

she died at a new york hospital after going into cardiac arrest during a medical procedure. rivers was known for her outrageous and outspoken brand of humor that frequently took aim at celebrities. her daughter melissa sent a tweet thanking friends, family, and those who loved her mother for their outpouring of support. a family fighting after they say their young son was poisoned by pesticides. peyton mccaughey spent his 10th birthday in the hospital. his family's home had been fumigated. terminix which contracted the work gave them the okay to return to the house. things went horribly wrong that night when they returned. >> he was having some uncontrollable muscle movements. he couldn't stand up. he couldn't speak. so they took him to a local walk in, and the doctor quickly recognized it was probably a poisoning from the treatment. >> payton's family says

filing a lawsuit against the japanese hibachi claim after she slipped and fell. according to documents she sustained deep second and third degree burn injuries requiring she claiming she suffered general damage and wage lost along with hospital expenses. >> the real question comes down to did the restaurant create some kind of dangerous condition that caused her to slip or to fall or to trip therefore sustaining the burns on her arm. >> the mother of 4's injuries so severe she reportedly had to get skin grafts. in this photo, you can see the burn marks on her arm, and in other photos the wound covered with bandages and sleeves. her husband telling extra in april she was recovering well. >> she's recovering. she's doing pretty good. she's just at home resting. >> the restaurant's famously close proximity of diners to the flaming open grills

central park at this time. know that it will be breezy at times. that's part of the atmosphere changing up. it actually feels pretty comfortable up there. the wind speeds across the board, about 10 to 20 miles an hour. breezy at times could be the wording. 76 for hauppauge, 75 massapequa, great neck up to 81 degrees. clouds hanging around along with this haze. it may not look picture perfect but it's setting the stage for a nice holiday weekend. by late tonight clear skies. that's going to allow us to have a beautiful day tomorrow and allow for us to warm up once we get into the second half of the weekend. so cooler today, we got that one down. picture perfect tomorrow. i think it's the best day of the holiday weekend, especially if you're looking for the comfort. it becomes hot again late sunday and into monday. our temperatures are mid-80s to 90s again. this cooldown is short lived. look at the clouds filtering in. spotty showers like this one through south jersey, those can't be ruled out. that's the case south and east of the city, all the way down

to the delmarva. there will be other pockets like this one and that's going to feel real nice. back to beautiful tomorrow, limited to 80 degrees but still a fantastic looking day coming our way. if you're making a get away to the catskills, the hamptons or the jersey shore, upper 70s on saturday, getting into the low 80s on sunday and mid-80s on monday. pretty much across the board anywhere you're ending up this holiday weekend things are pretty pleasant. from the beach to the boat, northeast winds to easterly winds up to 25 miles an hour today, 5-foot waves are possible. water temperature up to 78. it's very inviting, an active ocean out there. the rip current risk is high. check in with your lifeguards. comfortable and 65 tonight. the overnight low tomorrow, there it is, the kickoff, and it's a pretty good one. the accuweather seven-day stretch here, 86 on saturday, and then 90 on monday. labor day we're right back in the heat. i think that the humidity will take its time increasing on
