that we had yesterday. 72 right now middletown, 64 in monticello and many places not too far north and west of the city, actually get down into the 40s overnight tonight. you got a 77 right now west orange, 75 down the shore in belmar. we are watching a system offshore right now and this might try to back in toward the coast on tuesday and that can definitely spread some more cloud cover in here. i think any rain from that system would stay offshore. speaking of well offshore, we have tropical storm ida out here in the central atlantic ocean, 45-mile-per-hour winds. going to be moving so slowly that by friday it's only going to be in this position here and maybe intensifying up to a 50- mile-per-hour tropical storm so really not a big deal at this point. a cool start tomorrow as i was saying, some areas north and west getting down into the 40s, it's an onshore flow especially well south of our area and that will actually spread showers into parts of virginia and the carolinas but those showers should stay off to our south. we get the crowds from that onshore flow by tuesday.

morning, 58 in midtown, mainly clear, 40s well north and west by the time the kids get home from school or they are headed off to after-school activities. 73, intervals of clouds and sun, nice one out there and if you happen to be heading down to the beach, wind northeast 15 to 20, waves about three to 5 feet. choppy out there, the rip current risk is moderate to even high on the east end of long island. here's your accuweather forecast, nice one tomorrow, cooler, 73, mainly cloudy tuesday, we are talking temperatures in the mid-70s, back to sunshine on the first day of fall, by the way, on wednesday, 80, 80 on thursday when the pope arrives, 77 for all those big activities going on in the city on friday, 69 by saturday. so we do cool things off, a little bit below average for a change by early next weekend. right now we are on pace to have one of the warmest septembers on record in new york city. >> really? i'm not mad at that. >> not many people. >> thank you, jeff. that was great. >> excited for the pope. i think he made sure -- >> might want to hang out a little bit longer.
