a mother and father out at sea, then the baby coming several months early. weighing a pound. the family, right here tonight. good evening. tonight, from philadelphia, we begin with pope francis' final night in america. if you look over my shoulder, you can see the extraordinary crowd that gathered. the open-air mass nearing an end, hundreds of thousands on hand. for the pope's message to families everywhere. coming after an emotional weekend in philadelphia. a short time after he touched down, he stopped his driver to bless a disabled boy. the mother in tears. and meeting privately with victims of sexual abuse, vowing to hold those responsible accountable.

saying that god weeps. we have coverage beginning with terry moran. traveling request with the pope. >> reporter: he made his way through the streets of philadelphia. the crowds thrilled but smaller than expected. smothering security shut this city down. but this was the main event for francis. the families so close to his heart.
