moving towards glencoe -- and moving towards glenn cove. it is pouring in fairfield county. heavy downpours over northern new jersey. that is the actual cold front. that is approaching new york city within the hour. the line has the heaviest storms near philadelphia. this feature cast shows what the line will look like within an hour. the heaviest rain could be salt and east of new york city by 6:30 p.m. the entire event waits until 8:00 tonight to leave. these are storms from connecticut to western long island and just departing brooklyn it maclean's. it should be leaving the east end of long island. here is what you need to know. rain will last until about 8:00 p.m.

need help. >> reporter: he said the baby's mother was not home when this happened. >> i believe the aunt came down and she was starting to panic. >> reporter: late this afternoon a woman from inside the apartment was seen leaving quickly, carrying a baby stroller. neighbors tell us police came and removed the baby from the home. lots of questions remain. >> who would be their child unattended? she did not realize the baby was hanging out the window. >> reporter: no doubt, he knows what he is doing even though he can't say he has been doing it for long. >> it was only my second week on the job. i have not seen anything crazy yet. >> reporter: to like a job? >> i love my job. a pitbull goes on the attack in new jersey.

it chased down this little girl viciously mauling her. as a father try to protect her the dog started attacking him. anthony johnson is on the scene. >> reporter: this was a terrifying, frightening attack on a little girl taking place out this morning. her comes grabbed her on the head, biting and mauling her. the father rushes in and tries to save his little girl. she was on her way to kindergarten and without morning she was attacked by a pitbull outside of her house this morning. her father, jumped in to save his daughter, who was being bit on the head. the dogs original

roommate was taking care of the dog. he was bitten on the arms while trying to pull the dog off of the little girl. he expressed sorrow for the attack. >> i am very sorry. >> reporter: neighbors say the dog was hostile and had apparently attacked its first owner in the past. >> he attacked the owner before. >> reporter: the girl is now receiving rabies shots. she got four today. the bite on her head left a 2-inch gap and her arms are covered in bite marks. the officer who responded asked the dog owner what should be done. that man asked for help. >> reporter: the crop fired one shot, killing the dog. -- and the crop fired one shot, killing the dog. this is where the crop -- this is where the police

officer killed the dog. the animal was removed late this afternoon. luckily a school bus driver was coming down the block at the time and he got out to try to help the little girl. they were punching the dog to stop the attack and finally the dog was removed from the scene. that is the latest. anthony johnson, abc7. two college students dead in separate shootings on college campuses today. a freshman was killed and a person was wounded in a shooting in a parking lot outside texas southern university. have detained two men and they are searching for a a third meanwhile, a confrontation one person and wounded three others at northern university. police would not say what led to the fight.

those shootings happening at the president arrives in oregon. the president is meeting privately with family members and surviving victims of the rampage that killed nine people at umpqua community college. his arrival was met with a small demonstrations. people gathered near the airport to protest the president's call for stricter gun control laws. thabo sefolosha thanked the jury after he was found not guilty on charges connected to his arrest in new york city. the jury voted to acquit him after deliberating for less than an hour. he was accused of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest outside of a nightclub in april. he suffered a season ending broken leg when he was taken into custody. it is a big night for new york mets fans. they are hours away
