there's no i. d. on the victim, and police are still locking for the suspects. a 20-year-old man shot and killed. a 6-year-old girl grazed by a bullet. toni yates. thank you. riker's island still under guard after a guard was slashed by an inmate. darla miles is in the bronx with new details. >> reporter: for the first time we're learning a possible motive for the incident. sources tell eyewitness news this was about the inmates taking it to the prison guards after breaking up a fight wednesday night, and one of the inmates said in a recorded conversation they were going to

violate the guard. a guard was slashed from his forehead to ear. sources say the 41-year-old testified to a grand jury friday afternoon in the thursday evening assault that will leave him permanently scarred. here he is leaving after the testimony. >> the incident. horrible, and i've reached out to the guard and look forward to speaking to him later today. >> reporter: the two teens accused of carrying out the assault left the bronx criminal courthouse in these department of corrections vans. according to the criminal complaint green placed both arms around the informant's neck and jeezed, then the other approach -- squeezed, then the other approached him. the guard kicked him, but still he ended up getting slashed on the face and arm. security was tight for both

eyewitness news. thank you. family and friends gathering in the bronx tonight to remember a young girl and her grandfather killed while trick or treating. a wake is going on now for the 10-year-old and 65-year-old. the two were killed on halloween when a car hit them on morris park avenue. guests are asked to where her favorite color, sky blue. and a reward in the murder of a gas station attendant in new jersey. he was working at the gas station october 26th when two men in masks burst in. he was shot and killed in the robbery. no suspects have been identified. police are asking anyone with information to come forward. new information about an elderly woman killed by a bus in queens. police positively identified the vehicle that hit her.

the roof and ejected some passengers onto the interstate. the driver did survive. police say a nine-year-old boy shot to death in chicago was daughterred from a park -- lured from a park into an ally and investigating. lee was killed because of his father's gang connections. he was on his way to his grandmother's house when he was shot in the back of his head monday. the police superintendent said it's the most cowardly and unfathomable crime he's seen in his years of policing. the us coast guard is looking for a cruise ship passenger that tumbled into the ocean while on a cruise. this is cell phone video of the search. the man appeared to try to jump onto a lifeboat from the seventh deck, missed, clung to the edge of the boat as other passengers tried to help.

new information tonight about the murder of a gas station worker in new jersey. >> police are offering a 10,000- dollar reward for information about the shooting death of patel, and tonight we're hearing from his heart broken coworker. new jersey reporter toni yates has the story. >> i knew him, he was like a father to me. >> reporter: monday october 26th, two masked men entered the gas station and shot his father figure and friend patel dead. he was in the auto shop yards away with wharton a gunman -- when a gunman killed his friend. >> we heard a gunshot, so we stopped, then a couple of seconds later we heard the door, and screaming. by the time i came over here he was lying on the floor already. i didn't see nobody. >> reporter: investigators gathered video recordings from several stores in the area

women are making new york women next at we continue to follow breaking news, one man is dead and a child injured in a drive by shooting in plain field new jersey. police have identified the gunman driving the car and they are looking for him right now. the shooting happened near west 3rd street. a 6-year-old girl was on a back porch of a home when she was shot in the leg, but is expected to be okay.
