lucy yang is there with new details. >> as you can see behind me, the car has now been righted and is waiting to be towed. we've obtained dramatic video tonight. this as accident investigators try to determine exactly what went wrong to cause a driver to lose control and a pedestrian, a 50-year-old man, to lose his life. >> boom, like an explosion. >> reporter: these surveillance videos from various angles show the horrible accident. you see a man innocently talking on his phone. seconds later a car, airborne, crashes in to him, lands upside down on the sidewalk. a few feet behind him this woman survives and scrambles in to the store. seconds later good samaritans come racing to help. >> just ran right in to the tree. flipped about three times.

flatbush avenue in brooklyn was packed with cars and pedestrians when the drive of this nissan lost control. we're told one pedestrian was killed. three others including a young child in the car were taken to the hospital where they are expected to survive. felecia thomas had just left the area when tragedy struck. >> i'm supposed to be buying something at that store right there. i probably would have been dead right now. but you know what, god is good. >> i feel so sad. it's very upsetting and i hope we won't have to see any of this situation ever again. >> eyewitnesss tell us the sound of the crash was haunting. the scene, flatbush avenue, has pedestrians. we're told the little boy in the car, a 3-year-old son of the driver, is expected to recover. this as we await official word what triggered this fatal accident.

lucy yang for channel 7 eyewitness news. another pedestrian death. and tonight a cab driver charged with a deady accident on the upper west side. surveillance video captured the moments before louisa rosario was hit at 109th and columbus. the length of his shift apparently not an issue because he took two breaks, but his license has been suspended. he's been charged with failing to yield. new video tonight of a man wanted in bronx for attacking a woman inside a grocery store. it happened at the pioneer supermarket in fordham heights. the man and a woman get in to an argument then out of nowhere he clocks her in the face. the suspect took off. the victim went to the hospital for on her forehead. a night of gun violence in the bronx and the wild shooting caught on camera. it happened in a crowded deli. two people shot. a very confusing scene.

er jim dolan sorting it all out for us. >> it was crowded. there were families inside. it was about 5:30 in the evening. there were children, a baby, we'll show you in just a moment, but none of that stopped the gunman. walked up to that door and he fired away. >> reporter: look how crowded the store was when the shots were fired. you see the baby in the stroller left there alone when people scatter. it wasn't until moments later someone came back to get the stroller and the baby. there were apparently no words exchanged before the gunshots. >> no arguments, shots fired and that was it. bang-bang. i'm diving for the floor. >> reporter: you can see victor cruz wearing the white baseball hat in the surveillance video. he was maybe 5 feet away when the gunman walked up to the door and fired at least two shots. >> you got to be scared of something like that. >> reporter: you see the victim fall back and as people scatter, jusuf ran in to the victim.

the victim did survive. >> i was serving people and all was shots. someone got hit and rang through the back. >> reporter: two 18-year-olds were hit and taken away on stretchers on an outside camera, a man is seen walking up to the the shooting. no one has been arrested. >> again two 18-year-old males were hit. it is not clear if either of them was the target of the shooter. neither injury considered life-threatening. reporting live from morrisania, jim dolan. police searching for two gunmen who ambushed a man in stanford. the 34-year-old victim shot several times but survived. motive for the shooting not yet clear. police in midtown manhattan looking for a killer after a deadly triple shooting near penn station. surveillance video shows a man reacting to gunfire

victims got in to an argument with two men inside a mcdonald's. moments later gunman opened fire as the victims entered the subway. 43-year-old angel quinnonez was killed. a babysitter under arrest in manhattan accused of sexually abusing a boy in his care. now police are looking for other possible victims. 33-year-old milton gomez under arrest accused of sexually assault ing a boy he baby sat for years. he worked at the eastern diocese at the armenian church in midtown manhattan. >> i really can't comment. it's an ope n ongoing case, however, our diocese has been cooperating with the authorities on this. >> investigators say he was in regular contact with children at the church. they believe it's likely there are other victim. more students on long

island could be arrested as part of a massive sexting scandal hats led to the suspension and arrest of dedozens of students. two 14-year-old boys are already charged. they filmed a sexual encounter then passed the video around. parents say school officials suspended dozens of others for viewing it the video. >> you can get in trouble because somebody forwarded a video to the phone that he has no control over receiving it. >> school officials would not confirm how many students were punished but only would say any student involved in any way is under suspension. perhaps a new detaupt -- de at etant between the president and benjamin netanyahu.

discussed ways to ease tensions and violence between israelis and palestinians. the white house meeting happening while violence rising a disturbing attack at a west bank checkpoint caught on camera. we want to warn you, it's very a 23-year-old palestinian woman shot and killed today after pulling a knife on a guard. you can see the woman tried to stab the guard just before she's shot off camera. the guard suffered minor injuries. another shocking attack caught on camera in israel. three israelis were hurt when a driver deliberately rammed a car in to a crowd over the weekend. we froze it had video just the driver was shot and killed. the flight of an estimated 5 million people living in the united states and a blow to policy. federal appellate court shooting down the president's executive order to not deport selected groups of immigrants. the issue now heads to the u.s. supreme court.

a steady stream of racial tensions on the campus of the university of missouri and tonight it leads to the resignations of president and chancellor. cheers erupting on campus after president tim wolf announced he would step down after weeks of student protests. tensions reach ing a crescendo in recent weeks with a football team threatening to strike. >> he asked if i'd support i said i would. look at consequences. that it was about helping my players. >> the university's chancellor who resigned announced he'll transition to another role at the school by january 1st. a special delivery of the worst kind. health officials in rocklin county investigating a delivered pizza. the pizza was delivered from the pizza hut on route 9w in haverstraw. it was allegedly urinated on after a

worker over the order. if proven true, investigators say it would be a criminal case. a sigh of relief for chipotle. the source of the e. coli out break is not linked to the restaurant chain. that's the word from health officials who have given 43 chipotle stores the green light to reopen. they were closed as a precaution when it was suspected chipotle was the source of the outbreak. it's not clear what the source of the out break is. it will not be as nice tomorrow as it was today. meteorologist lee goldberg tracking rain coming in. >> we've been through nine days of november with little to no rain. even this latest batch is trying to avoid parts of the area. i have new information on the storm track. accuweather is a few minutes away. >> a woman aims a stolen suv directly at a cop. and this is only the beginning. >> and a runner hit by a car. then she gets

happened one saturday last month. she said she ran right in to the back of the car, fell, and hit her head. so when she asked the driver to call the police, the last thing she expected was to get this ticket for running in the street. turns out new jersey state law says she should have been on the sidewalk though she admits she and the officer didn't get along. >> granted i was running in the street and apparently that is against the law but when he showed up at my door he said he didn't like my attitude and that's why i was getting the ticket. ridiculous and petty on the part of the police officer. >> she was the cause of the accident. >> reporter: the police chief sees things differently. >> all officers when investigating accident reports in our municipality are expected to write summonses to those at fault. in this case that's what the officer did. i support his actions and he did what he was supposed to do. >> reporter: tonight in the hills amy and her great dane hugo were taking every

precaution on their walk. she got this e-mail. >> i don't begrudge the joggers for running in the street. if they're serious joggers they do it everywhere. >> reporter: in the end jager pleaded guilty and paid the fine. in basking ridge, new jersey, josh einiger, channel 7 eyewitness news. new tonight, can the nypd combat sex crimes on campus through art? it's definitely trying. tonight the department honoring the winners of its campus sexual assault poster contest. the department asking students to create posters that show their commitment to ending sexual assaults on campus and encouraging students to report sex crimes. >> i want people to think about the victims. >> it's an important issue and i try to [ inaudible ] as clear as possible. >> urging victims of sex crimes

detectives even if they're unsure about pressing charges. it was 50 years ago tonight that the manhattan skyline along with most of the northeast plunged in to darkness. at 5:30 p.m. a failure at a power plant knocked out electricity from canada to new jersey. up to 30 million people were affected. thousands were stranded in stalled subway cars while hundreds camped out at grand central station. it was 13 hours before the lights went back on in new york city. >> what a mess there. and of course a big baby boom happy nine months later after that. well documented. >> one gentleman had gloves there. it was 57 by day. very similar to today then went down to the 30s overnight. >> we've got a change of weather coming. >> no doubt about it. more of a nuisance rain here. parts of the area may wait to see their steadiest tomorrow morning. may creep in to new york city as well.

in pink and white for glamour magazine's woman of the year awards. easterly wind at 5. that will freshen by midday tomorrow. the high today just shy of the 60-degree mark but another day above average. it 10 degrees above average for the month. sunrise and sunset times, wall to wall clouds. the morning commute is likely to be soggy south of i-78. then the steadiest rain could take place tomorrow evening. there are two parts to this storm. damp daybreak on veterans day. we're back to a light rainfall thursday especially in the afternoon. then it turns drier and seasonable in to the weekend. these are the areas that have the strongest chance for the wet commute. it's already raining across southern ocean county. northern suburbs. couple sprinkles around . temperatures going to hold steady now that we have clouds coming in. off and on light rain, steadier south and eastern in the day tomorrow and we all have a chance to get a little soggier through the evening

hours. note the breezy conditions we go through the midday and afternoon. it could feel a little raw in the middle and upper 50s. a lot of clouds around but still thin spots to the north. rain has gotten steadier near stafford but it is running in to a lot of dry air. we'll get some of this but i think the heaviest rain will just miss us offshore as we go in to the evening hours. there really are two pieces. this is the morning piece. this is the piece that could come through during the evening hours. one part we don't have to worry about, that's tropical storm kate right there leaving the bahamas pretty strong with winds up to 60 miles per hour. this is a storm that's going to curve out to sea no problem. it is having a slight impact on that weather system along the coast pushing it a little closer to us. notice what happens here. 7 a.m. you've got the rain south of i-78. maybe there's light drizzle getting in the south shore. not much going on

that first piece goes offshore. we're left with off and on rainfall. not so much from the north. better chance for the city on south and east. there's your second part coming in to the evening hours. maybe clipping part of the evening commute, could be a little wetter. steadier around this time then moving around after that. 60 degrees should do it. cloudy and damp at 7 a.m. mainly light rain and steadier south of new york city. during the day, cloudy and cool becoming breezy. rain off and on. not terribly heavy. periods of rain probably for all of us tomorrow night. that could be the steadiest. closer look at veterans day. what you'll notice is we do have a little rain early pulling away in a slow clearing process. another light rainfall on thursday then friday through the weekend looks great with 50s and sunshine. bill evans will have an update in the morning. coming up next, you may have seen it pop up over social media today but can popping champagne really stop a deadly disease? plus a cop had just moments to react. a woman

an amazing and quite dangerous confrontation caught on camera by police and an out of control driver. >> stop! stop! >> oh, dear. body cameras capturing an officer in sand springs, oklahoma trying to stop an alleged car thief. instead that driver ran full speed in to him. other officers surrounded the car. rather than surrender, the driver stands up and taunts them. the driver had to be removed from the car. she faces several charges. amazingly the officer that was hit was not seriously hurt. in tonight's health alert, for whatever reason an old study making headlines on social media. perhaps you've seen it today. touting the benefits of champagne but experts urge caution. the 2013 study out of the uk popping up on facebook and twitter showed champagne has

sure, but i wouldn't poke him in the eye. a report from hawaii that jose reyes was arrested on halloween for allegedly assaulting his wife ape -- his wife in a hotel room. ready to roll without the mets' sandy alderson who will stay behind for a medical procedure. the mets say the procedure was scheduled and kept being pushed back by the met playoff run. 15 newcomers on this year's hall of fame ballot released today. 32 guys total on the list headed by trevor hoffman, ken griffey, jr. a 13-time all star, 10-time gold glove award winner, 630 career home runs and of course mike piazza is back on the ballot this year. he fell just 28 votes shy last year. we'll know what happens soon. the results set to be announced january 6th. nothing like those hot summer days for the baseball hall of fame inductions.
