outside where there's a sizable police search going on by troopers lining the woods. now it was yesterday that police discovered the body of 83-year-old lois collie. the manner of death considered a homicide. though no specific cause of death given. the state police have been combing the woods near the property. the edge of the property. which is right by the titic us reservoir, a police helicopter has been covering the area as well hoe flying. no -- low flying as well. now lois is married to eugene collie. he is one of the biggest owners of mcdonald's properties in the country. it's blocked off by police vehicles and numerous investigators roaming the compound and as you can tell, the search continuing for evidence in this apparent homicide. details expected a little bit later on when state police hold a briefing. for now that's the latest in north salem, marcus solis, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> marcus thank you. and right now wave of from tests for higher pay stretching from downtown brooklyn to a

rally in harlem. thousands of workers and supporters have hit the street to make their voices heard. they say that they deserve to make $15 an hour. political reporter dave evans joining us live from the demonstration in harlem. >> reporter: lori when the movement began two years ago, no one thought that $15 an hour minimum wage could become the norm in system places. it has in seattle and san francisco and eventually will for fast food workers in new york state and new york state. now the protesters here on 125th street and harlem right now, they say they're fighting for the rest of the country. [ chanting ] this morning, a nationwide fast food protest in 270 cities across america. came to harlem. and marched up adam clayton powell boulevard, marchers even

>> $8.75, $15 an hour would definitely would definitely help me with the cost of living. >> reporter: the goal is to make $15 an hour the minimum wage for everyone across the country and they want that as part of the national discussion in the ongoing presidential election. >> we okay if we going for president or local dogcatcher, you are not getting into office unless you're with child care and $15 and union rights for everybody in the united states. >> reporter: the day of protests actually began at 6:00 this morning in brooklyn. governor cuomo already signed off an $15 an hour for fast food workers. phased in over the next six years. he and the mayor now want that for everyone. >> this being america we believe in, when someone works all day long and still can't get by. no, we deserve better. working people deserve better, the fight for 15 is working and it is succeeding. >> reporter: well, there are three protests scheduled in new york city today.

the one going on here in harlem right now. and then one this afternoon at about 4:30 in the financial district. governor cuomo will be there this afternoon: for the now reporting live from harlem, dave evans, channel 7 eyewitness news. police have identified a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting near p.m. station that left a man dead. investigators believe 27-year- old vincent arcona told the victims they couldn't sell drugs inside a mcdonald's. police believe he lured them into a subway station on 35th street and 8th avenue and that's when a second suspect came up from behind the victims and began shooting. 43-year-old angel quinones was killed and two other men were wounded. a developing story in new jersey and firefighters continue to battle a fire that has been burning now for 13 hours straight. at an abandoned armory in pat person. that -- paterson. the fire started in the basement of the building and forced schools to close. new jersey reporter toni yates

is live now on the scene. >> reporter: hi lori you know they've been hitting this fire with water, now you can see those water towers -- ladders, they have them stationed around this building. they've been going at it for more than ten hours now. trying to make sure they get this fire completely out. it's taken seven alarms and 100 firefighters to tackle what was an immense blaze that began in the basement of the armory at 11:00 last night. >> on arrival. companies entered the structure and tried to make an interior attack. encountered heavy fire in the basement area and that went in about 200 feet and then saw it collapsing in around them and got really hot. they had to withdraw. >> reporter: even nine hours after the fire started, peeks inside the huge 100-year-old building show fire still burning. contained but not under control. >> here we are now, whatever -- how many hours later on seven alarm fire.

>> reporter: six schools in the area are closed and several homes near the armory were evacuated for safety reasons. the fire, the smoke and the possibility of toxic fumes from asbestos. >> pretty much looked like it was under control. until we woke up this morning and seen the blaze coming from the roof. the whole top of this thing was on fire. >> reporter: back live now. there's still as you can see pumping water into that building trying the make sure the hot spots and flames are out. this building used to belong to the national guard and has basically sat empty for decades now. it is a city property. they had plans to try to make it a recreational center at one point but that didn't pan out. and right now, no word on what caused this fire that started in the basement. 11:00 last night. as you can see hundreds of firefighters still at it. for now we are live here in paterson, toni yates, channel 7 eyewitness news. thank you. police in newark are investigating dead body found in a garage. the body was discovered inside

the garage at 11th street and madison avenue. neighbors called police because of smell coming from the site. so far the person has not been identified. and an autopsy they hope will determine the exact cause of death. a developing story to bring you now. a break in the biggest theft ever of customer data from a bank. federal prosecutors in new york say they will announce charges against three people responsible for the breach of data at jpmorgan. investigators say the two israeli citizens and one american citizen were part of schemes involving stocks and unlicensed money transfers. information about 83 million people and businesses were compromised. well, former new york state assemblyman lopez has died at age of 74. the brooklyn native died at memorial sloan-kettering hospital last night. he was a powerful political figure in albany until a sexual harassment scandal involving two female staffers forced him

funeral arkments for -- arrangements for mr. lopez are still being made. after a 50 year old man became the 12th pedestrian killed by a car in new york city since october 31st. surveillance sid joe shows the moments before a nissan slammed into a man talking on his cell brooklyn yesterday. the driver and a 3-year-old stage condition. no charges have been filed. turn now to the weather. and you are going to need the umbrellas handy as a storm system system moving through the area. and as we take a live look outside, finally beginning to feel like november. let's check in with meteorologist bill evans. bill? >> well it's feeling wet and damp. that's for sure. ling and we're looking at temperatures -- and we're looking at temperatures right now right at 56-degrees and that's the normal high temperature for this time of the year. and get a little warmer this afternoon and we'll approach 60. and we are looking at some wind out there. with that rain that makes it a lit built you know -- little bit you know kind of damp and uncomfortable because they're

blowing the rain arnold. you need all -- around. you need all the gear, the showers from the south and heavier rain has been eastward acrossfire island here and suffolk county. across montauk highway a more moderate shower or two and then this low cutting up into the western part of the state. a few more showers this evening. but so far, the park is reporting .12 just over a tenth and look at toms river over an inch so far and that's where sort of that path has been out east where there's .2 of rain out toward islip. so you see, south another inch of rain a quarter inch to inch of rain out of this and about a half inch to .75 of rain. our futurecast is showing the higher amounts out toward the east by 7:00 this evening there'll be a few showers around. some heavier showers overnight after midnight tonight and then you see this band for the commute tomorrow morning making its way out on veterans day and there might be brightening in the skies but by 5:00 by the time the sun sets it looks like you know we could be out of the

but it looks like sunshine and clouds will return after thursday for the weekend. which we'll talk about in your accuweather seven day forecast coming up in just a moment. keep the rain gear handy for the rest of the day and tonight. back to you guys, lori, david? the jury in the so-called heist trial resumed deliberations this morning. vincent asaro is accused of planning the 1978 heist of cash and jewels from a lufthansa cargo terminal at kennedy airport. he's also charged with arson, murder, extortion, and other crimes. 80-year-old faces life in prison if he's convicted. russia is suspending all flights to egypt in response to security concerns following the crash of a russian jet in the sinai desert. there has been no confirmation of suspicions that a bomb brought down the jet killing all 224 people on board. but russia is joining other countries with concerns about security at egypt's airports. now russian official says the flight ban could last several months.

star jose reyes has been arrested and charged with domestic abuse. hawaii news now is reporting that this shortstop grabbed his wife katherine by the throat and threw her into a sliding glass door on october 31st at maui. the paper says the wife had injuries to her neck and wrist. reyes is free on bail and in a statement, the rockies say the team is quote extremely disappointed and concerned. a scare for passengers on one flight at miami international airport. police ordered everyone on the barbados bound jet to put their hands on their heads. one passenger was taken into custody after getting through security with suspicious items in his carry-on bag. authorities figured out the man was a dentist and the suspicious items were actually dental equipment. so in the end, no one was charged. the university of missouri is promising change amid months of racial tension. the university says that it is planning to start search

northeast wind flow in here. 17 miles an hour right around flushing and laguardia. 13 miles per hour. 16 belmar. that's coming in this way. the rain coming up this way. so we just going to blanket the cloud cover with rain. and so the rain showers have been little more moderate out her across the great south bay and taconic bay and shelter island the north and south port there. and there'll be a few more showers to come up with off and on through the evening hours and as you can see toms river reporting every on inch of rain -- over an inch of rain there. the more age keepings coming you up south and north and there could be a quarter inch here and about three quarters of an inch south of that. more of the rain in tonight developing on the futurecast and that's where some of the rainfall amounts could be heavy in feral field county. in -- fair field county. rockland, westchester county tonight. then we see the sunshine returning as we get to friday. thursday there'll be a shower or two around. that leaves. but the rainfall amounts are going to be right around .3 so maybe another .3 to an inch around.

a controversial arrest. a car heads straight towards a police officer, and a bartender's life-saving leap just some of the stories we

caught on camera and caught our attention. we're going to begin with the disturbing video showing police officers using force while responding to a noise complaint in alabama. watch as the officers barge into an apartment in tuscaloosa and pull two students outside. the students are shoved to the ground and then tased. another officer uses what appears to be a baton as well. when all is done, three students were arrested. but after the chief of that police force watched the video, he placed the three officers on paid administrate e live pending the outcome of a full investigation. video just released by police in sand springs, oklahoma capture an officer's close call. the police were chasing dakar suspected of being stolen when the driver turns around and comes tight at the officer. the officer yells pulls out his gun and fires at the car. but it's still ramming right into the patrol car. it's so frightening but despite the gunfire and the head-on crash, you see on video, no one was seriously hurt. in the end, the woman taken into custody.

we continue to follow breaking news, the body of an 83-year-old woman was found in north salem and police are calling her death suspicious. police say the victim lois colley is well-known in the community. she was found dead at her estate. a seven alarm fire ripped through an abandoned armly in paterson overnight. it's now under control and nobody was hurt but a high school, four elementary schools and a pre-k school were closed today because of the fire. a rally underway in harlem. thousands of fast food workers and supporters are protesting the minimum wage. it's one of the many protests in the past several months.

the demonstrators say they deserve $15 an hour. hello again, i'm david novarro. >> and i'm lori stokes in for shirleen allicot. we are going to start the half hour with an eyewitness news exclusive in the disappearance of a long island woman. >> police have been questioning her husband. now he's talking to eyewitness news and saying he's innocent. long island reporter kristin thorne is live in south hampton with this exclusive. kristin? >> reporter: dave, carlos aucapina remained quiet about his wife's disappearance until now. he says everyone has been pointing the finger at him with it. he says he absolutely had nothing to do with his wife's disappearance. he spoke with me exclusively at his attorney's office here in south hampton just a short time ago. he says his wife of 21 years, lilia aucapina had obtained an order of protection against him just a few days before she disappeared. that order of protection allowed him to see her, allowed him to go to their house, he just was not allowed to spend

the night there. lilia aucapina 40 years old, mother of two, last seen saturday, october 10th at 9:30 in the morning in east hampton. there was an intense search to try to find her. i mean we're talking k-9 units and aviation units that began about 12 hours after she was last seen and continued for several days. her car was found in her driveway with her purse in it. but her cell phone missing. aucapina believes she is alive and want hearse to come home. -- wants her to come home. >> i hope that she's okay. that's my -- prayers. that's my willing. that's my wishes. she's okay. whatever she is, just we want to know that she's okay. so everybody can be more peaceful. >> reporter: aucapina's says voluntarily submitted to a polygraph test with police yesterday. those results should be back later on today. we're live in south hampton, i'm kristin thorne, channel 7 eyewitness news. chris thin thank you.

jet coming in for a landing at laguardia airport reports someone pointing a laser at the plane. the faa is investigating and says the green laser was aimed from fort lee last night. the spirit airlines cockpit crew experienced the problem on a flight coming in from chicago o'hare at about 10:00. fortunately though, no one was injured and the plane landed safely. two defendants in the george washington bridge lane closure scandal will file motions in federal court today. governor christie's former deputy chief of staff kelly and post-- port authority official bill baroney are charged with crimes including conspiracy, fraud and civil rights violations. they're accused of causing traffic jams to punish fort lee's mayor for not endorsing christie for re-election in 2013. now to vote 2016. the eight major republican candidates saddle up for another presidential debate tonight. now it kicks off at 9:00 p.m. this evening in milwaukee.

qualify for the main debate. and in the meantime, a new poll shows ben carson with a narrow 24% to 23% lead over donald trump. they are followed by rubio at 12% and ted cruz and jeb bush at 8% each. well, now on to that major doping scandal that has russia on the defense. and it could have an impact on the upcoming olympics. russia is denying allegations of state sponsored cheating and corruption. but a new report is crying foul. abc's elizabeth hur has the story. >> reporter: good afternoon to you. the agency in charge of the investigation is not only claiming the russian government cheated, they are also recommending lifetime bans for the athletes they say were involved. allegations of doping, cheating, and bribing according to russian president vladimir putin are quote unfounded. putin firing back at the scathing report that russian

drugs in the 2012 olympics. sweeping all the races including the women's 800 meters. >> this is one of the biggest scandals to rock international sport in quite some time. >> reporter: despite russian denials, the world amendment doping agency says -- anti- doping agency says its investigation revealed that the abuse was systemic. they helped stage a cover-up. >> it's worse than we thought. unlike other forms of corruption, affecting the results on the -- field of play. >> reporter: the agency is now demanding that the russians be stripped of all their medals. >> i'm hoping we're going to see the medals that our owed to me. >> reporter: which could mean american athletes could earn a bronze medal. >> sometimes you wonder like why are you crying and it's just such natural human emotion to just feel like a loss. >> reporter: in addition if agency is calling for russia to be banned from international games including next year's rio olympics. that's not all. sources say criminal

launched and fifa says it is now closely monitoring the situation as russia is set to host the 2018 soccer world cup. the international olympics committee has the final say and for now they gave russia until friday to respond. stressing the committee has a zero tolerance policy, i'm elizabeth hur for channel 7 eyewitness news. >> and gunfire wounded two 18- year-olds in a packed bronx deli. and the shooting was caught on camera. store video shows the crowd scatter as the gunman fires from the deli door. a baby is abandoned. people dive for cover. and one victim falls behind the deli counter. the two wounded teens are expected to recover. and it's not even clear if they were the intended targets. police are still looking for the gunman. police have caught the third suspect who they say ran from a police involved shooting in bedford-stuyvesant and he's just 150 years old. -- he's just 15 years old.

they stole from a plains clothes detective who then drew his gun and shot one suspect who was pointing a gun at him. they face robbery and grand larceny and weapons charges and again the ages range from 15 to 20 years old. turn now to meteorologist bill evans. >> yes, he has the afterschool accuweather forecast. and well, it is very rainy as we go into the afterschool hours. >> a lot of afterschool sports have been canceled and some will keep going. they always play lacrosse and football in the rain for some reason. want to be aware there'll be sprinkles and showers through the rest of the afternoon. and into tonight. it's not drenching flooding rains but it is rain through the evening and into tonight and after school kids. at the bus stop, just take your time and be very careful and watch out for the kids the bus stop parents and teachers and superintendents athletic directors all that kind of stuff. evening and into tonight. tomorrow. that's and the weekend too looking really good if your accuweather forecast. -- in your accuweather forecast, that is in a couple david. speaking of kids, we're talking about finding healthy snacks for kids.

well, a new report is pointing out some problems with long island railroad's lost and found operation. the mta inspector general's report cited the lost and found for lax security, poor organization, and inadequate recordkeeping. it says many problems are due

to the office's practice of keeping isle tells longer than require -- ape tells longer than requiredpy -- items longer than required by law. the lost and found received more than 15,000 items in 2013. it says about 60% of them were returned. meanwhile, active and retired members of the military will get free new jersey transit rides on very day. they will -- veterans day. they will be able to use trains and buses and lightrail for free all day tomorrow by using a valid military id. new jersey transit's executive director says it's a privilege to salute the nation's veterans. a person of interest is in an attack on a judge is now in custody. the arrest was made in houston on an unrelated charge. someone shot judge julie kocurek as she got out of her car at her home in austin on friday. she wasn't hit. but she was injured by shrapnel and broken glass. investigators believe she was targeted.
