chance to jump out of harm's way has now been identified as 50-year-old kinyenti charles. >> i only heard this morning. i'm so sad . >> reporter: 5:26 monday evening the victim was innocently talking on his cell phone and walking on flatbush avenue in brooklyn when tragedy struck. we obtained even more surveillance today which shows how the nissan lost control before flying on to the sidewalk right in to charles. his neighbors today horrified by the news. >> just saw him the other day. nice guy. quiet guy. yeah. really good neighbor. it's sad. it's really sad . >> reporter: it's still not clear what caused the driver to lose control. police report he had his 3-year-old son in the car. they were not seriously injured. another woman, only a few feet behind on the sidewalk barely escaped with minor

coming up in a few minutes. the nypd releasing a photo tonight of the two men wanted in connection with the deadly triple shooting near penn station. police say 27-year-old vincent arcona lured three men in to a subway station on 8th avenue yesterday morning. that's when police say this man who they have yet to identify opened fire on the victims. 43-year-old angel quinones was killed. the other men were wounded. nationwide demonstrations including here in new york city. workers wanting $15 as the minimum wage for everyone. and tonight new giving them what they want. dave evans with the story and the latest in lower manhattan. >> this push for $15 an hour minimum wage actually began in new york city two years ago. we now see cities like san francisco and seattle adopting $15 an hour minimum wage. what we're seeing here today with

these protests is a push that might benefit everyone. >> reporter: a day of protest began at 6:00 this morning in brooklyn. and then on to harlem at lunchtime and now here in foley square where the governor announced he's ordering a pay hike for state workers that all of them make at least $15 an hour. >> today i announce we're going to establish a public sector minimum wage and we're going to start in our own house. >> reporter: in harlem they marched along 125th street. their goal, that $15 an hour become the norm for everyone. in new york city fast food workers will go to $15 an hour in three years. statewide in six years. it's a long wait. >> 8 .75, basically $15 would be a life saver right now. >> it's easy for somebody to say that working from the bottom to get to the top. yeah, it's all about moving up, but you got to be able to survive as well.

emergency crews right now on the scene of a car that was found in the water. it's happening at gariston beach. the body of a man was found inside. the vehicle believed to have entered the water at some point overnight. we have a crew on the way. we'll get you more information as we receive it. students at six schools in paterson, new jersey that were closed today because of a fire are expected to be back in class thursday. that fire started at the basement of an old armory on market street 11:00 last night. at one point flames shot through the roof and the fire reached seven alarms. >> entered the structure, tried to make an interior attack. encountered heavy fire in the basement area. went in about 200 feet and started collapsing around them. got really hot so they had to withdraw. >> one firefighter had to go to the hospital after suffering a back injury. fire crews will remain on the scene through the night dousing hotspots. another laser scare in the air.

this time a passenger plane headed to laguardia. cockpit crew of a spirit airlines flight said somebody aimed a green laser while they were flying over fort lee. the plane landed safely about 10:00. the faa and fort lee police are now investigating. the russian government's ban on flights to egypt will likely last for months. that word today from vladimir putin's chief of staff. still a confirmation of suspicions that a terrorist bomb brought down the russian passenger plane. happened in the sinai desert. all 224 people onboard were killed. but russia now joining other countries that are questioning security at the airports in egypt. the republican presidential candidates preparing to face off in their fourth debate. the top eight gop candidates will meet in the main debate in milwaukee tonight with frontrunners donald trump and ben carson taking the latest national poll shows them in a virtual tie for first place.

the house or ground was hurt. the plane took out power lines, knocking out power in the neighborhood. >> the colorado rockies issuing a statement tonight saying the team is disappointed that jose reyes has been charged with domestic abuse. police say he got in to an argument with his wife that turned physical. this happened in the hotel room of four seasons in maui. reyes, who used to play for the mets, is free on $1,000 bail. he was a powerful political figure in new york state politics until a sex harassment scandal forced him out of office. former assemblyman vito lopez has died after a long battle with leukemia. the sexual harassment scandal involved two female staffers. funeral arrangements are still being made. the funeral of a 9-year-old boy who was killed in an alleged gang execution.

in the head in an alley november 2nd as he headed to his grandmother's house. chicago police say the death was a result of two gangs fighting in a string of retaliatory events that dated back months. the minister who presided over the service called his death a new low for chicago. charges announced today in new york against three men who were accused of the largest computer hack attack ever against a bank. federal prosecutors say two israeli men and an american stole information from 82 people and businesses from jpmorgan chase and other financial institutions. the israel suspects face extradition but aaron is on the loose at this hour. the long list of charges against the three suspects include everything from securities fraud to money laundering. is there a new detaunt emerging? netanyahu

a mother on long island missing for more than a month. her husband tells eyewitness news he had nothing to do with her disappearance and just wants her found. >> i'm hoping and praying she is okay, she's alive. >> it's a story you saw first here on eyewitness news and we broke the story online at abc7ny. i had nothing to do with her disappearance, that insistence tonight from the husband. >> the husband was estranged with an arrest at least once for violating the order of protection. kristin thorne talked to him and joins us live from southampton. >> i met with him earlier today for a one-on-one interview with his attorney at the attorney's office here in southampton. aucapina says he understands why people would think he has something to do with his wife's disappearance but he says simply

>> we have a story to be told. we'll do it during commercial. all those leaves in your live shots at 4:00 outside, you were like covered. >> that's the thing. it can cover storm drains. it can make things a little slippery. we have our scattered downpours around. that's sort of the challenges this time of year. we're in good shape by the veterans day parade by tomorrow as we go in to the late morning, afternoon. even though the clouds may struggle to break we may be dry in the 50s. we have lower manhattan and the ceiling has made all buildings equal where we have the ceiling over 700 feet or so. that's pretty low. we're at 54 degrees. cloudy skies. northeast wind, 18 to 26. even though the rain is light, kind of wind driven. pretty damp out there. our temperature going down to 51 tonight. this is a planner for five boroughs and nearby suburbs in new york city. we'll have rain till maybe 7:00 in the morning in new york city. then that will move out. danbury, connecticut, we'll have rain

that will go in until 8:00 in the morning then leave the area. clouds trying to lift and break for some sunshine during the afternoon. best chance will be late in the day toward the early evening hours. the rain is going to get steadier again. we're still a couple hours away from that. i think the heaviest rain during the evening will start focusing north and west. we could still have downpours to the east end of long island but i think the rain will be lighter on the jersey shore and heavier north and west. some of the amounts will receive maybe half an inch of rainfall overnight. that rain will pivot out. roadways could still be damp. then the clouds will try to lift and break for sun. we should be in the mid 50s. parts of the jersey shore, half inch to 3/4s. new york city, long island, connecticut coast, lower hudson valley. for veterans day it's 59 with rain leaving early.

then clouds trying to break. on thursday we'll get right back in to some light rain. i think it will be spared from the morning commute. i think from 9:00, 10:00 in the morning through early evening there will be periods of light rain. about a quarter of an inch. as we go in to late week it's all about the sun coming back but gusty winds. friday and saturday. worst cases there's some extra clouds on friday afternoon with a stray shower in the catskills but for the most part it's just about wind. same thing on saturday. i think sunday is the better half for the weekend. more sunshine, lighter wind and a couple degrees milder. pretty close to normal. if you notice in to early next week, we're not getting that chill. 60 on monday, 62 on tuesday. just looking at the long range now, i think we're waiting till thanksgiving till we really get a cold shot of air. >> can you imagine? yes, of course, these

news washington. we've got breaking news and new information on that breaking news we've been telling you that car that went in to the water in gerritsen beach. >> kemberly richardson at the scene with new video. >> all this police activity is happening here at the end of gerritsen avenue. officers with the nypd here at the end of the avenue. they're also the harbor unit in place. that's shell bang creek at the end of the dead end. divers are there in the water. this all started when someone living in this neighborhood noticed damage at the end of the road. they then took a look at video cameras at their surveillance video. i want to show you that video. this video was taken by a surveillance camera at a house here in gerritsen avenue just before 5:00 yesterday morning. you see that car racing toward the water. it goes off camera. then that watt er plunges in to

the creek. we're told it's somewhat, maybe about 20 feet off the bulkhead. that was 10:05 yesterday morning. the person who saw that video didn't think anything of it at first. they saw damage to a wooden wall that's missing down at the end of the avenue. they called police this afternoon. that's when they came out here. they couldn't see the car at that point. divers went in to the water and they discovered that vehicle. take a look back here. divers are in the water. we're told the harbor unit has gone down and they say at this point it appears that there's one man inside that car who is dead. he appears to be in his 40s. this is still an active scene. police are trying to get that car out of the water. they haven't taken it out yet. we'll have much more on this story coming up at 6:00. you'll hear from the man who saw that video

all new at 5:00, the biggest bust of k2 and spice in new jersey history. $27 million were seized when federal and local police raided a manufacturing warehouse. four men are now under arrest in a huge chunk of the synthetic pot industry has been taken down. our new jersey reporter anthony johnson is in passaic with more. >> we understand that that pot manufacturing plant was inside of this huge warehouse complex which was right down the street from a school. up to $27 million worth of product could have been made inside of that plant and most of that k2. that synthetic marijuana was sold to kids. >> reporter: this was the warehouse building which

authorities say contained the largest k2 manufacturing operation ever busted in new jersey. these four suspects have been taken in to custody in connection with this drug distribution ring. police have been warned about the dangerous effects of the drug. some users have displayed unusual strength and hallucinate. in both these cases the users had taken off their clothes. the product produces frightening effects. >> elevated heart rate is a very common symptom. nausea, vomiting, seizures, tremors. >> reporter: official s found 2,000 packages of synthetic marijuana. 234 small bottles of bath salts or synthetic ecstasy and over 32,000 illegally made male enhancement pills. k2 was sold in packaging which may be

attractive to kids. >> some of the packages include scooby snacks and are labeled scooby snacks. there's hello kitty packaging that you'll find. there's angry bird packaging. >> eyewitness news uncovered an operation at several bodegas to try to purchase the product in one of the corner stores. authorities say users usually find k2 in bodegas online and in smoke shops. >> we know synthetic marijuana unlike regular marijuana is more dangerous and is becoming more prevalent. >> reporter: authorities are still trying to determine how widespread this operation was, where they're selling in places like new york and connecticut. past busts have shown a connection to overseas. anthony johnson, channel 7 eyewitness news.
