problems. we're told crews are working to restore service as quickly as possible. meanwhile, the boil water advisory remains in effect until samples come back showing the water is safe enough to drink again. live in hoboken, lucy yang, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> okay, thank you, lucy. new at 11:00, an armed robber on the run. he tied up his victims. police in suffolk county say a masked man held up the pier 1 imports in huntington station and restrained people in the store. he got away with an unknown amount of money. air and k-9 units are looking for the man. there are no reports of any injuries. and morris county, middle of the night canoeing ends with one of two men missing. police responded to 911 calls about an overturned canoe in white meadow lake about 3:00 a.m. they pulled one man from the lake and began searching for the other. they searched for hours, but have not found him. we're going to hear from friends of both men in our next

new at 11:00, raids and arrests tonight in belgium. in a massive security sweep, police carried out 22 raids, 19 near brussels and three in other cities, 16 people arrested. no firearms or explosives were found during the raids. brussels will remain on lockdown through tomorrow, with troops patrolling the city. schools, malls, the subway will remain shut down over what the prime minister called a serious and imminent threat. not among those arrested tonight, salah abdelsalam, the last surviving suspect of the paris attacks. he's believed to be hiding out in brussels. today, his brother says the family hopes to see him end up in a jail rather than dead. and french police released photos of another attacker in paris. they hope to identify this man, who they say was one of the three who blew himself up outside the stadium. during a conference in malaysia, president obama

a scare in the air and a flight diverted because of unruly passengers. the southwest airlines plane was heading from indianapolis to los angeles, when the airline says three men began acting suspiciously. the worried crew diverted the flight to kansas city. everyone got off the plane when it landed and authorities pulled the men aside for questioning. the flight eventually continued without the men. no charges were filed and they were booked on later flights. it's a war of words across the hudson. new jersey governor chris christie is firing back at new york mayor bill de blasio on national television. de blasio said chris christie's decision to stop taking in syrian refugees was inhumane. >> the mayor should worry more about getting something done in the city of new york to make it about criticizing anybody else. quite frankly, given the way he's talking and not worried about the security and the safety of the people of new york, maybe he of damascus.

windchills, right now around zero degrees. travel by air, also slow going. more than 1000 flights were canceled at chicago area airports. police identified the suspected gunmen accused of shooting a medical student who intervened during a robbery. authorities in new orleans say 21-year-old urich cain was the one caught on camera shooting peter gold in the stomach. investigators say gold stopped his car to help a woman cain was dragging down the street on friday. security cameras show the suspect attempting to shoot gold a second time, but the gun jammed and did not fire. the shooter stole the woman's purse and ran away. gold is recovering in a new orleans hospital. in the bronx, a search for a robber who hit a kennedy fried chicken restaurant on east tremont. investigators just released images from last thursday's robbery. the robber hopped the counter, pulled a knife and got away with $300 from the register. no one was hurt.

york city council looks at and commercial drones. the public safety and transportation committees will hold a joint hearing on bills aimed at regulating drone use in the five boroughs. in september, a drone crashed open. officials worry about more more popular. a warning tonight for anyone renting a car for holiday travel this year. in a new report, new york city controller scott stringer says car rental companies are charging customers excessive convenience fees to use an ez pass. as a result, customers are paying two to three times more than other drivers. for example, a four-day trip from brooklyn to schenectady costs $22.77. but rental car customers pay anywhere from $41 to nearly $86. stringer is calling for

lake in rockaway township. stephan kim has the story. >> obviously for his family, they would want to know. >> reporter: the grim news is settling in. george realizes it's unlikely this will have a happy ending. 3:00 a.m. sunday, two men were in white meadow lake and their canoe capsized. one was rescued and rushed to a hospital. colin stone is a friend of the man, now home resting, but devastated his canoeing partner is still missing. >> he said he was physically okay. he said he was mentally wrecked from it. that was his best friend. >> reporter: kelsey gonzalez says it was one of her friends who heard a strange noise in the middle of the night. after 20 minutes, she realized something had gone terribly wrong. >> he was in the woods screaming, crying for help at, like, 3:30 in the morning. my friend heard him screaming, so she called the cops. >> reporter: rescue teams showed up right away and found

one man almost immediately. he was able to swim to shore, but unable to pull himself out of the water. after hours of searching for the second man, around 1:30 in the afternoon, dive teams pulled back, leaving only one rescue boat out on the water, slowly circling the lake, clear indications this rescue effort had turned into a recovery effort. by early evening, the search was called off, unclear if it will resume in the morning. officials have not released names or ages of the two men. but according to friends, they are in their twenties. >> definitely a shock. we've never had something like that happen around here. >> reporter: we still do not know what were the two men doing out on the lake at 3:00 a.m. at white meadow lake, stephan kim, channel 7 eyewitness news. new tonight, a harrowing bust at a haslet, new jersey hotel. police responded to the holiday inn because of a sick child on thursday. as they helped the child in a room, officers spotted heroin. investigators found nearly 1000 packets of the drug. police arrested the woman who

rented the room and charged her with drugs and endangering the welfare of a child. as investigators in europe work to prevent terror attacks there, security is a big concern here in the states. hundreds of emergency responders converged on a subway station in manhattan this morning, as part of an emergency drill designed to deal with a paris-like terrorist attack. eyewitness news reporter darla miles has the story. practice makes perfect. >> reporter: the fbi, secret service and the fdny all staged a scene of a mass shooting. >> the scenario this morning involved active shooting situations in our subway to test response to that. >> reporter: two practice drills, a year in the making. both involved two active shooters on the platform of the bowery street subway station, a test for the nypd transit police, who responded first in the first scenario. >> the police department
