a police officer in new jersey rushing in to stop an armed robbery facing four suspects alone. tonight see the dramatic video, the take down and hear from the officer only on eyewitness news. and a fishing trip ends in tragedy when a boat capsizes in the ocean off new jersey and leaves two men dead. good evening, first tonight, a developing story in colorado springs, a gunman opens fire inside a planned parenthood clinic. two civilians and a police officer are dead. nine others are injured including four officers. the suspect taken into custody after an hours long stand off. his name not yet released. here in new york, the nypd has

stepped up security outside local planned parenthood clinics. eyewitness news sephon kim is live with the developments. >> reporter: police were able to shout to the shooter and get him to surrendered. the stand off lasted four hours and by the time it was over three people were shot including one police officer. >> reporter: a gunman on the lose opening fire. causing pay -- chaos and panic for several hours. >> taken a prior, two hits. >> reporter: emergency responders are at the ready. clear signs things had turned deadly. near by witnesses and shoppers told to stay in place and find shelter. witnesses say they heard more than 12 gunshots in five minutes. >> we have to stop this guy. >> reporter: juan motolina's sister inside the planned parenthood called her brother while hiding behind a table.

three asked her to take care of her babies because she could get killed. >> there were some guys shooting. >> did you see them. >> yeah, yeah. she was hiding. >> reporter: the stand off began just before noon local time. officials said the shooter had more than just a gun with him bringing bags into the building. at least nine were rushed to bay area hospitals with gunshot wounds. among them a police officer. the police officer who was killed garrett swisey with the university of colorado in colorado springs. finally at 9:00 p.m. the moment everyone had been waiting for. the suspect arrested alive. >> the perpetrator is in custody. the situation has been resolved. >> reporter: police say the motive is still unknown at this time. it's unclear if planned parenthood was even a target. officials say this scene could

tyke -- could take hours or days to process. meanwhile, those that were injured are in good condition. a huge wave capsizes a boat throwing seven people into the water. rescue crews rushed to the scene but two men did not survive. it happened near the inlet. eyewitness news reporter mallory huff outside the hospital tonight. >> reporter: four of the men were taken here for treatment. we're told this group often goes out boating or fishing together. on this particular day, witnesses say the boat was no match for the water. >> reporter: wrapped in blankets survivors of the out. operation. a man was seen being hoisted into the air.

seven men were on a pontoon boat when it capsized. >> one wave came up behind it and almost tipped it and as soon as it hit it just kind of sat there and the next wave came up right behind it tipped it over the rest of the way. >> reporter: 66-year-old alex osachee and 74-year-old gregory kakishner died. both lived in new jersey. one man refused medical treatment. >> these folks we dock on the same dock. they come up and down the dock all time. we say hello. >> reporter: they were out on the water enjoying a day off when they saw commotion in the distance. they went to the area to see if they could help. they would soon learn the men they had seen fishing earlier in the afternoon were in trouble. >> we come back and see the boat they were on capsized.

the water while we were there. >> reporter: an investigation found the boat capsized due to a large swell. >> there was a ground swell coming in from the south. and it was an outgoing tide. so it was a tough circumstance to be navigating the inlet in the first place. the pontoon boat that they are on is, not the greatest boat for those conditions. at all. >> reporter: a thorough investigation into how this happened will now take place. we're told the boat capsized about 1,000 feet from shore. malory huff. breaking news now, there has been another laser incident at jfk airport. the crew of a virgin american flight from san francisco says a green laser illuminated their air bus a320 as it descended four miles from the airport. the plane did land safely.

the faa has notified the new york police department and an investigation is now under way. there has been at least a half a dozen laser incidents in the past six months. and new at 11:00, the search for a suspect in the sexual assault of a woman in kips bay. police are looking for 31-year- old dominique fraizer. seen here on a plug shot from a robbery. he forced a 49-year-old woman into a stairwell where he made her perform a sexual act then tried to rape her. when she resisted, he stole her purse. she was able to get her purse back. police are looking for paul niles.

woman to the amphitheater then raped and robbed her. we now know the victim was a retired new york city cop. 56-year-old yvette molina was hit last night in east new york while getting into her car. the driver also hit several other vehicles before fleeing the scene. 24-year-old michael mcbean is facing a string of charges tonight including leaving the scene of a deadly accident. we are getting our first look at a suspected arsonist in betweens. police release grainy surveillance video of a man they're looking for. he's wanted for at least four arson fires in the forest hills area since november 8th. the latest fire was two nights ago. investigators are also looking into a string of other suspicious fires in the same area that may be linked to that same arsonist. a somber memorial service

in paris. french president said he would do anything in his power to take down the terrorists. we are learning more tonight about a man from connecticut who's under arrest for jumping the white house fence. joseph caputo of stanford is accused of jury -- accused of jumping the fence yesterday, carrying a folder while the first lady was inside. an investigation found that caputo had left a suicide note behind. there was no shortage of deals for the takings. macy's opened its doors since last night. with discounts on just about everything.

morning at 7:00. they're expecting a full house like this every day they're opened through the holidays. in paramus, tony yates. eyewitness news. now black friday wasn't just a day for shoppers in chicago it was a day for protesters who blocked store entrances. along the famed michigan avenue shopping district all to draw attention to the police killing of a black teenager. some retailers were forced to close. the march is the latest demonstration in chicago since tuesday. that is when officials released video of 17-year-old laquan mcdonald being shot 16 times by an officer who's charged with first degree murder. as we continue on this friday night, a lone officer faces off with four armed robbers in new jersey. exclusive video tonight as the cop takes down those suspects. and video you just have to see. an out of control car narrowly misses a couple on the side of

now to an eyewitness news exclusive and a scary scene caught on store surveillance camera. one suspect is scene trying to take down a man with a gun.

i kept telling him to stay back, stay back. >> reporter: jamie mejia says that after years on the job his instincts kicked in. four individuals on park avenue threatening to shoot store employees. watch on this surveillance video as officer mejia enters the store alone. he tells the suspect to get their hands up against the wall and that's when things get dicey. >> one of the suspects decided to go out on my sight. go in back of this sign here. >> reporter: that's when mejia noticed him taking something out of his pocket. while mejia is distracted one of the suspects boths. a second suspect tries to follow but mejia tackles him. meanwhile you can see one of the other suspects get close enough to grab the officers weapon. moments later an officer arrives but it isn't over. >> there's a gun inside the

and the threat is still there. >> reporter: while officer mejia and his back up were struggling. people inside were making sure the other suspect did not grab that weapon stuffed inside that box. police found a handgun with hollow bullets. >> he's the guy that the younger guys, these junior guys and rookies look up to. >> reporter: the young man found with the guilty is rice. he's take a close look at this individual. he's the fourth suspect who escaped. the white house christmas tree arrived today on a horse drawn carriage. first lady michelle obama and first dogs bo and sunny

home for the next month. grown in landsdale pennsylvania. the tree stands more than 18 feet tall. the tree is traditionally displayed in the blue room of the house. the first lady says this year's tree will honor the military. in suffolk county a school nurse praised today for saving the life of a 10-year-old boy who collapsed on the playground. grenville was not breathing and had no pulse on wednesday. she performed cpr and with the help of a suffolk county police department revived the boy who gave her a big hug. >> i'm still numb because i feel i'm just doing my job. i don't really feel like this hero that everybody is making me out to be. i don't feel that way. i just feel like i'm doing my job. >> keyshawn remains hospitalized tonight. but, what an amazing teacher

and very warm this time of the year. the sun setting these days at 4:30. highs today at all the mayor reporting stations across the tri state area. got well into the 60s. 66 was a popular number in newark and down the shore down to toms river. right now still 55 in newark even the northern and western suburbs are still in the 50s overnight. 53 right now susex. we have cloud cover moving in which is kind of acting as an insulating factor in the atmosphere helping things stay mild overnight. and this cold front pressing in tomorrow. tomorrow a much cloudier day. there'll be a couple of showers around. a lot of this energy is located to the south and west. 8:00 in the morning. maybe a shower or two north and west of the city. i think if we get a shower in new york city in the five burroughs it's probably in the afternoon. late tomorrow night into early

sunday some drier air tries to work its way in but sunday might get off to a damp start well south of new york city. down toward say southern parts of ocean county before we try to clear things out in the afternoon. in the meantime, a few showers during the day tomorrow. the high gets down to 59. heading into sunday. cooler, some partial clearing in the afternoon. the high only getting up to 50. more normal for this time of the year. accu weather forecast overnight. partly to mostly cloudy mild. we get down to 53. we're 55, a couple of showers around especially in the afternoon. could be a lingering shower. mainly cloudy down to 43. cooler sunday, clouds to start and clearing in the afternoon. 50, sun and clouds on monday. only getting up to 47 and unsettled weather does come in tuesday into wednesday rain at times both days. but pretty mile, highs in the mid-50s by the time we cool off

dramatic video tonight of an incredibly close call in connecticut. a driver crashes into a disabled vehicle on i95 in fairfield. whoa, the car narrowly missed two people standing right there. by law drivers are required to move over when approaching a stopped vehicle. the driver yoni rojas facing a string of charges including reckless driving.

fortunately, to one was seriously hurt. >> a surprising discovery made today off the coast of southern england. large chunk of a u.s. space rocket was found in the waters near the aisles of sully. investigators believe it's part of the unmanned space x falcon rocket that exploded at take off in florida last june. a curious study about the eating habits of men. men tend to eat more in the company of women. researchers observed diners at buffets they found men ate 93% more pizza while dining with women than their peers who ate with other men. some researchers say it could be a way of impressing women, rob. i don't know. >> were you impressed by that. >> i don't know. are you.

direction. and that direction for carmelo anthony was right to the hoop. and dwayne wade still has it. knicks down one at the half. and the heat outscore the knicks 24-14. carmelo anthony 11 points in the first quarter. he didn't score again the rest of the game. the knicks just couldn't close. gerald green scored 25 the knicks lose 97-78. that's three straight losses with the rockets in town sunday. all right on ice the rangers were on a role until they hit a brick wall. this afternoon, another team the rangers have trouble with the bruins. derek stephane out indefinitely after that hit to the ribs in the second period. this goes to the third period.
