the side of i-287 in bernards township. >> the driver of the car was killed. police have not yet identified the two workers who were kid. >> we talked to family and friends of the victims. >> reporter: joe and sandra, this is where several of the victims are recovering from what officials are saying are non life threatening injuries. there are a dozen victims what are injured but for three others they were not as lucky, killed in this horrific accident. for those who were close to those victims this has been a devastating day. >> no one knows what happened here and why. >> reporter: this man says his nephew was always the life of the party. a sharp young man known for his contagious sense of humor. tragically multivehicle accident saturday night. police say it was around 10:30 when it happened, killing the hillsborough man and two others. loved ones say he recently turned down a high paying job

could be close to home and take care of his sick grandfather. >> he always just wanted to be around everyone that he knew and keep them in touch so he would almost persistently tray to get everyone together, hang out. >> his personality was quite magnetic. that's why people are hanging around so much. >> reporter: investigators say lost his life after a 43-year- old man driving a dodge ram pulled over to check on a cattle trailer he was towing. his hyundai elantra that vehicle. that's when a van carrying restaurant work 0ers struck the guardrail, the trailer, then him. senate's devastating. it's absolutely devastating. >> reporter: this woman, overcome with sadness after learning two workers were the restaurant.

the signs posted there today telling customers they're closed due to an unexpected emergency and apologizing for an inconvenience. she says those workers take that van to work every day. every one of them, she says, a part of the community. >> the workers are all really, really nice people. they're very conscientious. they're very hard workers. >> reporter: the driver of that dodge suffered minor injuries. he was rushed to everylook medical center. he and the other surviving victims are expected to be okay. stephan kim, channel 7 eyewitness news. new video tonight of a man caught on camera stealing from an electronics store on long island. security cameras recorded the suspect walking into a game stop in carl place on november 13th. when the clerk was disstrablgd the manner reached over the counter, grabbed a playstation 4 console and ran out of the store. investigators have some hope or -- or hope, rather, someone will recognize the suspect and notify police.

two homes in suffolk county. by the time firefighters arrived on the scene in north baby lon the flames had spread from one home on sunrise miles per hour to another next-door. a car parked in a driveway also went up in flames. one person was treated for smoke inhalation. new information tonight in the attack on planned parenthood in colorado springs. authorities have identified the two civilians killed. 29-year-old army veteran pierre stewart and 36-year-old jen for markovsky were shot and killed. the accused gun pan will appear in court tomorrow. investigators say he made hostile comments about planned parenthood but left few clues about his plans. >> he's not talking to a lot of people. he's not saying i'm going to do this or that. very hard to identify that

type of person as threat. >> also tonight the secret service has reportedly sent agents to investigate comments that robert dear made about president bam movement details of those remarks have not been released. president obama flew to france and promptly paid trib tribute to the victims in paris. president obama placed a single flower at a make shift memorial outside the bataclan concert hall. meanwhile in paris earlier today violence clashes erupted between police and climate change activists who refused to obey a ban on protests. a ban put in place following the recent terror attacks in that city. police arrested more than 200 protesters as authorities tried to disexperts the raucous crowd. climate change very much on the minds of demonstrators

bill nye the science guy led a rally on the steps of new york city hall this afternoon. he was joined by members of the people's climate movement. speakers outlined key policy commitments they want from the de blasio administration ahead summit in paris. a fresh start. that's what rutgers university scandal-filled football season and a losing record. today the university fired head football coach kyle flood and athletic director julie hermann. they've already made a hire to get the school back on track. lucy yang is on campus unnew brunswick with details. lucy. >> reporter: well, sandra, it was a big sports at rutgers university today. the football coach is gone, and so is the athletic director. but it will make a difference? one day after the end of a dismal season, rutgers football coach kyle flood got sacked.

>> the replacement of the football coach raises special challenges for us so that made it appropriate, i think, for us to start fresh, wipe the slate clean. >> reporter: it was not a total surprise. there had been speculation about how long the coach could hold on to his job without victories on the field. that, plus the scandals off the field. flood himself was suspended for three games and finned $50,000 earlier in the season for reportedly contacting a professor about a player's grades, which is not allowed. that player and five others were eventually kicked off the team after beg arrested for armed robbery, burglary, and rioting. >> probably the main reason why he got fired, you've imt to be able to control your players. >> reporter: flood was not the only head to roll this thanksgiving weekend. the athletic director julie hermann was also fired. >> there's a lot of prob in this league, and we have to be able to succeed. >> reporter: rutgers president this afternoon wasted no time naming replacements, an

kobe bryant decided to make his retirement announcement in a poem. and he posted it on derek jeter's website. he says he will retire after this season. the lakers superstar spent his entire 20-year career with los angeles wing five titles with the lakers. now 37 years old, bryant has struggled to stay healthy over the last couple of seasons and seans production suffer but he will always be known as one of the basketball greats. in his first-person poem called dear basketball, he wrote this season is all i have left to gi. my heart can taking pounding but my mind knows it is time to say good-bye. stott says it is his star's intent to play the rest of this season and help the lakers win. >> kobe will sit down exclusively with robin roberts to talk about his retirement.

tomorrow the health commissioner will make a big announcement about sodium levels in your meals. you are going to start to see salt shakers appear on menus. new york city will be the first to warn customers about how much salt they're consuming. mallory. >> reporter: sandra, health officials say this is about having enough information to

a hawk after they noticed it was in distress in the east river. the officers from the department's harbor unit were on patrol near the brooklyn bridge this morning when they spotted the hawk in the water, flapping its wings. they pulled it onto the boat, dried it off with a towel, and it remained perched on the arm of an officer for several minutes before flying off. anyway needed a break. >> there you go. >> they were in the middle of getting an elderly man out of the path of a train when two good samaritans realized that train was rapidly approaching. they managed to get to safety but you have to hear just how close they were when that train sped by. and amson reveals its latest invention for the future of delivery. we'll show you the new hybrid drone that could be leaving packages right on your front lawn. and a live look outside. meteorologist amy freeze has your work week weather coming up. don't forget to join us

falling temperatures. you can tell the difference. not only do we have 30s, a great shot from manhattan looking into the battery of one world trade. north wind at 6 miles per hour. currently 39 in central park. we look back here over the last couple of days with the beautiful three days in a row of 60s. that felt g. then we had the 46 today, and we're forecasting 46 again tomorrow. so a similar feel to the day. looking at the 24-hour temperature change we've been on track with this all day. so a real transition has already happened. another reinforcing shot of cold air is going to keep the temperatures low tomorrow. we see those winds here out of the north. we had a gust from montauk in the last 30 minutes of 23 miles per hour. also another gust right there at the shores of belmar 16 miles per hour. a few clouds hanging around, too, from really new jersey

new york, new jersey line, i should say, all the way down to the kay. everybody else clear skies, even the clouds are very thin. the front itself is down south to delmarva so we get the influence of all this chilly air from the north. 46 degrees tomorrow. that's below average. but it doesn't last very long. instead, we're going to see a warm front come through and that will change things not only bringing mild air but also moisture. the tendency in the ohio river valley, lot of rain stretches back to north texas. that's going to easing its way east. as that happens by tuesday night we are tracking rain coming into delaware and south jersey. by tuesday morning at dawn we've got showers across the area. that rain continues through tuesday afternoon. it looks as though we could see the heaviest rain tuesday night into wednesday morning. so we will break this down for you. 30s tonight, 27 in the coldest spots. sun to clouds and brisk tomorrow during the afternoon
