>> i came home yesterday, from on the news. i figured, well, he'd be fine. >> he was a good person. i loved my father. i always will. >> thalasinos family describes him as a great father with two sons. following the masser in california and the terror attacks in paris mayor de blasio is planning to reach out to the city's 800,000 muslims. he will visit the jamaica muslim center this evening. the mayor says it's important to ease fears of possible hate- filled retaliation. muslims are being urged to report any bias crimes to police. the city has also sent staffers to visit mosques to build better relationships. we will continue following this story. abc news has now confirmed that the woman accused in the san bernardino massacre used social media to pledge her allegiance to isis. n. j. burkett is in california.

beginning on eyewitness news first at 4 and at abc7ny. we are also following some breaking news in our area. a man on long island was arrested after police found a large number of gun magazines and a body armor vest in his car. the man also had a fake federal air marshal id. investigators just wrapped up a news conference. eyewitness news reporter stacey sager is live in minneola with the details on this breaking story. stacy. >> we're talking about a joint investigation out here with nassau county police. they were working along side the joint terrorism task force and the tsa on this. what authorities had was a tip and then surveillance and then a traffic stop which produced some very disturbing results. this is the man who is now facing charge, 49-year-old mark vickers. he lived here in a gated

he had numerous weapons, illegal weapons, no permit inside his home. also 8300 rounds of ammunition inside his home. this doesn't even include what they found on vickers yesterday morning when they pulled him over on jericho turnpike. >> defendant vickers then produced a fraudulent shield and identification credentials identifying him as a federal air marshal. the defendant was in possession of a loaded 380 pistol and a gravity knife at that time. located in the backseat of the vehicle was a loaded daniel defense 223 caliber assault rifle along with a ballistic body armor vest and a tactical vest all which are in front of you, in which three high capacity magazines containing rifle. in all over 500 rounds of ammunition were recovered in the vehicle. >> reporter: and once again,

home and his vehicle. none of them permitted weapons. federal authorities have confirmed as well as nassau county police there is no nexus to terrorism here, no direct threat to any residents here in nassau county. we're talking about a guy federal air marshal. police are still trying to find out what he really did for a living. sources are now telling us even his wife thought he was a federal air marshal. we'll of course be following the story, have a lot more on it later today. for now we are live outside nassau police headquarters in minneola. i'm stacey sager channel 7 eyewitness news. thank you. thousands are expected to attend funeral services for the police officer killed in an attack on a planned parenthood clinic in colorado. garrett swasey was one of three people fatally shot that left nine people injured. the officer was responding to reports over an at the facility last friday.

murder. a search for a rapist in queens after a woman was attacked overnight. the 40-year-old woman was rummaging through outdoor recycling in east em hurst when a man road up on a bicycle. he offered to give her more bottles and cans. he then led her to the become of the building where he pulled out a knife and attacked her. he fled on the bicycle. the victim was taken to the hospital. we're learning more about a triple shooting in brooklyn. a man is accused of shooting the mother of his two children before killing another man and turning the gun on himself. eyewitness news reporter tim fleischer is live in east flatbush brooklyn with the details. tim. >> and that murder suicide took place just down the sidewalk where those people have gathered here on this afternoon. it's on east 91st street. friends and relatives of one of those victims this morning mourned his passing. >> to lose a good man like that. >> glen alexis still can't believe his cousin who police have yet to identify was shot

>> apparently there was a domestic violence issue, which related to somewhat of a triangle where there's a boyfriend and a young lady and another man involved. >> fortunately police say, the two children were not injured. reporting live in east flatbush, tim fleischer channel 7 eyewitness news. police are searching for the man wanted in a bias attack. it happened at the corner of berry street and device avenue in williamsburg. the man punched a 42-year-old man in the head while yelling antiwhite sentiments. water crews remain on the scene of a water main break in new jersey that disrupted the morning commute. news copter 7 was over the scene in fort lee this morning. a large water main break at central road and hoyt avenue caused several streets to close. the intersection is near an approach to the george washington bridge. now right now crews are working to repair the damage.

spokesperson says two men who were denied entry to the restaurant in cairo left and drank somewhere else. they then came back with four other people at around 6 a.m. and threw a molotov cocktail into the entrance of the club. 11 club employees and five other people were killed. three others were injured. closer to home chicago's mayor has agreed to release video of another police involved shooting. rahm emanuel announced plans to release the video of the shooting of ronald johnson the next week. the 25-year-old was shot last year by an officer who said johnson threatened him with a gun. the news comes a week after dash cam video of an officer shooting a teen multiple teens was made public. protestors were calling for the state's attorney to resign over her handling of those cases. the former front man for the stone temple pilots has died. scott weiland's manager said the singer died in his sleep in bloomington minnesota. he was on tour with his band the wild abouts.

p.m. at madison jewelers on broadway, which you can see on surveillance video. one of the men uses a small gun to demand jewels and watches and fled with the items. and then back on october 9th. police say the same two men targeted kenjo jewelry store on west 57th street where one suspect brandishes a handgun and demands merchandise from employees. they fled with an unknown number of watches. and the first incident in this string took place back on september 19th when the jewelry patch on 7th avenue was the target. it was the same operation using a q1 to demand the goods and then fleeing the scene. one suspect is described as a black male, 30 to 35 years old about 5-7, 5-8 with a stocky build last seen wearing a blue buttoned short sleeve shirt with a black long sleeved shirt underneath. a black baseball cap, khaki pants and dark colored

officer ricky howard was patrolling when he noticed the boy running down the street with his shoes untied. howard says he told the child his laces are untied. the boy said he didn't know how to do it himself. the officer stopped and tied the boy's shoes. a woman in the neighborhood snapped a picture and posted it on social media. >> bunny ears, got to learn the bunny ears. >> how old is he? >> spoken like a real mom. >> all right. bunny ears. forth worth texas police department is using the force to find new officers. you'll see why in this video the force doesn't exactly work for darth vader who came in for an interview. you see lord vader made many failed attempts to impress. he uses tell kinesis, you know, mind control. his resume doesn't help either, having the death star blow up under your command, not a good thing. he seems to be getting the word out though.
