good evening, 11:00, i am bill ritter. >> we begin with the upper east side, bricks crashing on the sidewalk near 56th and 4th avenue. >> jim dolan live with the breaking news on scene. >> reporter: take a look at this, this is what came crashing down, not a few of these, hundreds of these huge bricks came falling down from 35 floors in the air. hundreds of them, take a look at the field of debris over here and hundreds of these bricks fell down, most were pollverized when they landed but as you can see, a couple of them survived. what is remarkable here, what is almost amazing here is all of those bricks over all of that area covering 2 sidewalks and the street at 63rd and 1st avenue, nobody was hurt. i want to show you one picture we have of a taxi cab, john, i don't know if you can get that,

the windshield was broken of that car, but no people were actually hurt. so when all the bricks came down, obviously a lot of people out here on the street but nobody got hit and again, police and the fire department are looking at this to see exactly what happened. obviously the building's department on its way. we would sheyou the video of way up on the building but it is so high you can barely see it. 35 floors in the air where these bricks came falling down. they were doing construction on the side of the wall, the side of the building, the facade of the building when those bricks came falling down. again, building's department investigating this. we will have more tomorrow. for now, reporting live from the east side, jim dolan, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank goodness no one was hurt. the driver of a car is deadarve crashing into an mta bus, 2 others were injured

josh einiger with details. josh? >> reporter: that scene behind me, but first i want to show you where police believe the car was coming from, this is gate 4 from st. john's. there was a winter celebration and 8:30 the car pulled out and made a left turn on union turnpike, a divided road and instead of turning on the right side of the road, turned on to the left side of the road and wound up right in the path of that on coming q-46 bus. i will show you video as this way. this happened around 8:30 this evening at the corner of union queens. there was 1 person in the car survive. the bus driver and a passenger, 1 passenger on that q-46 bus, sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized for those minor injuries. there was, as i said, a winter celebration going on at st. john's, a tree lighting, holiday

they grabbed what they could and moved a life time's worth of memories out of their home tonight while authorities removed crime scene evidence. >> whatever animal did this needs to be caught. he left my kids without a mother. >> fredy hernandez took his 2 sons out for dinner while the mom stayed home. when they returned, i am told her car was out front and her pocket book inside but no sign of 35-year-old yolambda vega, there was a note saying she went out except not in her hand writing. minutes later they saw an armed man bust out of a closet and run out of the house and that is when a series of serious mistakes followed. a close neighbor called 911 and gave chase but we are told police stopped the neighbor instead of the suspect allowing the gunman to get away. even worse, the families says search teams failed to find the mother's body in the basement.
