tashfeen's malik their high powered rifles, this as federal authorities tell abc news they are tracking suspicious activity in the killers bank account. elizabeth hur is live with the latest. >> investigators say just weeks before the attack there was an unusually large deposit made into farook's bank account, and so right now they're looking into that and pursuing other leads to say -- which they say could lead to possible charges against accomplices. >> for investigators, this much is clear. syed farook and tashfeen malik planned their attack well in advance. the question now, did they have help. the fbi says it has surveillance video of the two killers taking target practice around the los angeles area. now under intense questioning is farook's friend and neighbor enrique marquez seen here on facebook, a former security guard and convert to islam who

the upper east side this afternoon after hundreds of bricks tumbled from a high- rise. some of the bricks hit cars on the street. it happened on the east 64th street side near 1st avenue and the closures are impacting people for blocks. eyewitness news reporter sandra bookman is live with the story. >> shirleen, we are on 1st avenue, 1st avenue right now remains closed from 59th street to 64th street as buildings department inspectors try and figure out exactly what happened here. according to paperwork filed with the department of buildings in september, there was what's described as some miscellaneous facade terrorist and roof restoration work going on at this building, but at this point there is no word on whether that may have triggered this facade collapse. >> thank god it was only the wall and nobody got hurt. >> a sentiment shared by neighborhood residents and

they got a good look this morning at the bricks and debris that fell more than 30 stories on to the street, miraculously injuring no one. >> it was so loud. it sounded like -- i mean i don't know what a bomb sounds like. that's how loud it was. it wasn't a crash. it wasn't a car crash. it was a -- what you'd think was an explosion. >> in fact, the fdny says it first got the call to the scene about an explosion at the east 64th street building around 8:30 or 9:00 last night but firefighters initially found nothing. >> about an hour later they were called back, and at that point the whole facade of the building had collapsed at that 35th floor level. >> the bare patch just above the roofline shows exactly where those bricks came loose. from the air you can see the building setbacks, terraces and balconies likely caught much of the debris. this smashed in rear window of the yellow cab, one of the few casualties. for now surrounding streets

as city buildings department inspectors assess the damage and determine what needs to be done next. >> because that section came down, they need to assess the entire perimeter of that area. it's very difficult to access due to the structure of the building. >> back live now on the upper east side, what you're looking at is that section of the building facade where all of those bricks came down. there's one piece on the side where you can kind of see the facade bulging away from the building. of course that is really one of the things that building inspectors, building department inspectors are going to be looking at. we're told by the fire department that what they have to do this afternoon is get up there and take a closer look at the facade to see how to fix this problem. that could involve building scaffolding or some other method. at this point the street will remain closed until they figure that out. we're live this afternoon on the upper east side. i'm sandra bookman channel 7

police have a murder mystery on their hands in brooklyn. investigators say that someone shot 68-year-old ying wan chin several times. they found him on in sunset park. chin died at the hospital. also in brooklyn we are getting our first look at the suspect involved in a violent robbery spree. police released this video of the man they want to find. they say he's attacked at least three people in brownsville including two elderly victims. all of the incidents have been the same. the man shoves the victims to the ground and then grabs their cash. police in queens are still investigating a deadly crash between a car and an mta bus. this happened last night on union turnpike outside st. john's university. the car was heading west when for some reason the 60-year-old man behind the wheel veered into eastbound traffic and hit the bus. the car's driver was killed. the bus driver and passenger had minor injuries. they are expected to be okay.

accused in a london subway attack says he had mental problems and they contacted police in the weeks before that attack. 29-year-old muhadine mira is charged with attempted murder. he injured three people saturday during a brutal knife attack. they say he had material on his phone referencing the attacks in san bernardino and paris along with isis propaganda. the american rock band eagles of death returned to the bataclan theater in paris for the first time since the deadly attacks. members of the band laid flowers outside the now closed theater where at least 89 people were killed by islamic extremists on november 13th. last night the band performed with the iconic rock band u2. it was the group's first onstage appearance since the attacks. officials in chicago are looking into the treatment of an inmate in police custody. newly released video shows an officer using a stun gun on 38-

chipotle is blaming norovirus for making 30 boston college students sick. the students became ill after eating at one of its restaurants in boston. the company says it thinks the illnesses are an isolated incident unrelated to an outbreak of e. coli. chipotle closed a restaurant in boston after the students became ill. the chain temporarily shut down 43 restaurants in the pacific northwest after the first e. coli outbreak in october. since then there have been new cases including in new york.

bail to oscar pistorius as he awaits sentencing for a new murder conviction. pistorius was convicted last thursday of murdering girlfriend reeva steencamp in 2013. the appeals court ruling overturned a lower court, which had convicted pistorius on the lesser crime of manslaughter. the court ordered pistorius to return in april for sentencing for the murder conviction. pope francis marked the beginning of the catholic church's jubilee year of mercy with a special ritual. the pontiff opened the holy doors of st. peters basilica. devout catholics believe that this symbolizes jesus, the opening of the doors. this is the first time the ceremony was performed in 15 years. millions are expected to visit the vatican in the coming year for the opportunity to walk through those particular doors. fans around the world are remembering john lennon on the 35th anniversary of his death. lennon was gunned down as he

came to a dramatic end when a carjacking suspect opened fire on a residential street. watch as dash cam video captures officers following a black camaro as it speeds through seattle. when an officer gets close enough, he rams the suspect's vehicle. it hits an suv with an innocent woman inside. she runs away, then suddenly the suspect turns his car around, points a gun at officers, and begins shooting. the 35-year-old suspect was killed. frightening scene there. the boy scout motto is be prepared, but it's tough to plan for something like this. you see the guy in that surveillance video? he is stealing christmas trees that were being sold in ohio by a boy scout troop. the thief snatched the trees on the morning of black friday. caught soon. >> a cat in oregon didn't want to find out if she really has nine lives so when she and her owner were trapped on a flooded

was meeting two men in springfield gardens to when one of the men pulled out a gun and that's when the officer killed >> kemberly richardson is live in springfield gardens with that story. >> reporter: and just moments ago eyewitness news obtained exclusive video that shows the tense minutes out here as that off-duty nypd officer is holding his gun pointed at a suspect on the ground. we'll get to that in a second. first i want to give you an idea of what's happening out here. the crime scene is in a large l shape. it starts here on 145th avenue and spills over. investigators are focused on that gray suv believed to be the off-duty nypd officer's car. now to that video. it's dark but you can make out the silhouette of a man there in the distance. that is the nypd officer with his gun drawn. the suspect at this point is

we now know he is 30-year-old devon holder. this ordeal unfolded around that officer was under the impression he was meeting up car. in an ad on craigslist the want suspects posted about selling a white older model bmw. the they met here, began haggling over price, and then the suspects pulled out a bb gun and tried to rob the officer. he pulled out his gun firing at least once shooting, striking and killing devon holder. the other suspect got in the white bmw and took off. many people in this neighborhood were home and heard all the chaos. >> i was in the house laying down, and i heard about -- i heard two shot first, and then i heard three more. i said to my wife i say you know what happened, this is fire crackers. this sounds like gunshots to me. like 5 minutes after that i heard ambulance, i heard fire truck, i heard police cars, everything. i wasn't well so i didn't get

when i came out this morning, i see tape all over because this is like one block away from the house, so you know. >> when you heard what happened? >> honestly i said this is really close. this is right next to the house. so you know, i was kind of shaky about it this morning. i look outside, i say wow, this is right next door. >> reporter: and many other people in this neighborhood feeling the same way. now just moments ago police released this picture. this is the suspect's gun that was found out here at the scene. we're told it's a black pt85 blow back air pistol. back here live, that officer was not seriously hurt. he was taken to the hospital and treated for ringing in his ears because of the gunfire. we'll have much more on this story coming up on eyewitness news later. for now we're live in queens, kemberly richardson channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you. new details at noon about a road rage shooting that injured a mom on long island and came

it happened overnight on sunrise highway in east patching. the mother is now recovering in the hospital and officials just wrapped up a news conference. kristin thorne is live outside police headquarters in yay pang. . >> reporter: shirleen, thankfully the woman was not hurt. she was shot once in her hand and in her leg and thankfully these bullets did not hit her 11 week old daughter who was in the backseat. the concern for police here is that the shooter is still out there. this all happened around 9:00 last night on sunrise highway in east patchog. nicole's boyfriend edward was driving when he noticed a minivan driving erratically. pontis flashed his lights. the driver of the minivan slammed on his brakes and then there was a sort of back and forth what you would call a road rage incident.

pulled up, rolled down his window and began yelling at the suspect, eventually he slammed on his brakes. the driver of the minivan pulled along side and fired two shots through the passenger door. both bullets coming very close to hitting that baby in the backseat. again, mcdowell shot once in the hand and the leg. >> and the couple described hearing two shots. at that point the minivan sped off. it exited at hospital road and was last seen eastbound on the sunrise service road. >> reporter: and she is now recovering at brook haven medical center. police making it very clear that this was a joint road rage incident and that the victims here could face charges for participating in dangerous driving with their baby in the backseat. i'm kristin thorne channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you. and a man from new jersey has a message for the person who murdered his fiancee and

the mysterious killing happened sometime sunday night inside a home on beacon street in rahway. the body of 35-year-old yolanda vega was found monday. hours earlier a family member apparently saw a gunman jump out of a closet and run from the house. authorities have not said how vega died, and her fiancee doesn't know who would hurt her. >> if you knew her, you would love her, honestly. whatever animal did this needs to be caught. he left my kids without a mother. >> in another twist, a neighbor apparently chased the suspect as he ran away. however, police stopped the neighbor and the gunman disappeared. a $10,000 reward is being offered in the case. in the wake of recent terror attacks, u.s. lawmakers are increasing their pressure on tech companies. some politicians want the

marcus. >> and still a very active scene it is as police continue to search for one additional suspect after that wild police pursuit, crash, and shooting that took place earlier this. we can give you a look here at the sawmill river parkway that directions. you can see the police activity as police look for one suspect. now we understand that two suspects in custody already but the third may have run into tibbitz brook park which runs along side the northbound sawmill river parkway. this was a pursuit that originated in the bronx. officers from the 50th precincts pursuing a vehicle that may have hit another police car, and this then it

over evidence in the case. officer william porter's defense says prosecutors withheld a document which shows gray had a back injury a month before his arrest. gray is the 25-year-old who died of a spinal cord injury a week after baltimore police arrested him. porter is the first of six officers facing trial over gray's death. the wife of chicago bear quarterback jay cutler is speaking out about the search for her missing brother. kristin cavallari posted a childhood photo of herself with her brother michael on instagram. the caption said "i appreciate all the concern, thoughts and prayers, remain hopeful. michael cavallari has been missing now for about two weeks. he vanished four days after he was arrested for making criminal threats. cavallari was already on probation for a dui. a one-time voice of charlie brown got prison time for making criminal threats. yesterday a california judge sentenced peter robins to four

noontime. bright blue skies with some clouds thrown in there depending on which way you're looking on this day. just checking out that barge going down the east river there. it's just a wonderful area there, you know, right around the watchtower and across the east river to the brooklyn bridge. it's a fun spot to be on daylight today because it's so mild, just a light northerly wind of 47 degrees. here at this hour not a bad day to have lunch outside. the day's coming. you can have lunch outside because of the warm air that's going to be coming up. a little northerly wind here, more of this high pressure ridge will slide eastward. the next seven hours we're going to be looking at 47, 48 degrees and this has been pretty much right in line with our forecast and west of the area might actually hit 54. we're going to be looking at very mild temperatures. it only gets warmer as we head toward the end of the week and the weekend. after school kiddos, 48 degrees, breaking sunshine, the jet stream will go up to the north now, and so this weekend

along the east coast. mostly we're looking at sunday where a record might be challenged. 20 to 30 degrees above normal will be the temperatures over the heartland. we're looking at maybe 10, 20 degrees above normal as we go into the weekend. clouds and sunshine this afternoon 50, partly cloudy, 39 tonight. tomorrow we're at 52, normal high is 45. we're 7 degrees warmer tomorrow. we're looking at sunshine and clouds on wednesday as well as thursday some morning clouds. it's possible that as we get to thursday there might be a shower, can't rule out a shower on thursday in some spots, and then sunshine for the afternoon. that's more warm air surging up. it only gets warmer as we go into the weekend. 60 on saturday and 62 on sunday. as we get to next week there might be some rain on monday. i did say rain. i did not say snow in any extreme cold anytime soon. there you go. hope you enjoy it. >> so spoiled, we don't even want the rain. keep it nice out there. >> go to evans weather on
