was happening at two local karaoke bars. >> a teenager shot after a fight at school spills into the streets. tonight, he's speaking exclusively with us about how his life is changed forever. >> that shooting forcing a lockdown at two schools as police search for the gunman. now the victim is speaking out, claiming he's an innocent victim. >> eyewitness news reporter speaking to the young man, he's in new york city for us. >> reporter: his name is steven sims and he's a senior at william dixon high school -- or dickenson high school, where earlier today around lump time there was a fight between two groups of students, some of them describing it as a brawl. some of the students left the school and maybe an hour later, steven sims, a senior said he was in the supermarket getting a sandwich for his own lunch break when a fight broke out and continued on the street and

listen to what he says happened next. >> at first, i felt it but i didn't realize i was hit until someone told me that there was blood on my pants. >> reporter: and we just talked to him in the past half hour at home. he says there is now a bullet forever lodged in his lower leg. he said he has a broken bone, the bullet is too close to his bones for doctors to remove it. he showed us his bloody pants and describes the pain he was feeling right now. he said he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time when that fight spilled out on to the street here on pal lisab, de avenue. there was a fight, police said, between either two students or two groups of students. sims' family said they've heard it was more like a brawl between two groups of students. one student they say threatened

left campus, only to return at some point later and then opened fire. several shots on the street, one of which hit steven sims. >> i don't know. somebody got to stop the guns being sold i guess or however everyone is getting the guns around here, got to stop. >> i don't want him to go to that school. make me nervous for him to go to school. worst phone call of my life. and i don't know what else to say because i don't want to break down. it was a very bad day. >> reporter: a very, very bad day, indeed, but the good news is her son is going to be okay. it was one shot to the leg and doctors say he will make a full recovery though he said he may live with the bullet in his leg the rest of his life. he's police did find the student who had opened fire. he's just 16 years old and

information about him, aside from that, because he is a juvenile. we are live in jersey city tonight, john einiger, channel 8 eyewitness news. scandal tonight for the nypd, two cops facing criminal charges of bribery, accused of alerting owners of a raid. this case could very well involve others. lucy yang live at one of the night clubs at the center of this case. >> reporter: these are troubling charges of corruption and bribery against several officers at the 109th precinct. instead of clamping down on illegal drugs at clubs, they're accused of putting their badge for sale. no one is singing at these karaoke clubs in flushing but informants are against two officers. a lieutenant and detective are under arrest, charged with

prosecutors believe they were getting cash each month from various karaoke bars in exchange for information on upcoming raids, keeping the karaoke bars in business proved to be a lucrative business. one of the officers was receiving $2,000 a month from one of the owners. on the force for ten years, he has now been suspended, bail set at $25,000. another officer, 50-year-old lieutenant robert sung turned himself in today and is now awaiting arraignment. now we're unable to get comments from the care observing clubs. this investigation by the attorney's office took two years

today a contractor working on the building's masonry issued a violation after hundreds of bricks came raining down from the facade of the building. jim dolan on the scene for a second night. jim? >> reporter: yesterday all day long the building department has been saying there was a contractor up there working on the facade hours about of those bricks came crashing down on the south side of the building. but we spoke with the contractor tonight, quality construction of long island city, and they say they were working on the north side of the building and what they did had nothing to do with why the bricks fell, which makes you wonder why did they fall and can it happen again. workers spent the night assembling i protectich scaffolding across the street from the building where hundreds of bricks fell last night, more than 30 floors, the bricks fell and crashed to the ground and exploded on impact raining debris and dust. >> here it's nothing, just.

bricks. >> uh-huh. >> reporter: all day long people came to the site and looked up the side of the building where a rain of bricks came down. no one was injured but it was so loud. >> i thought it was terrorism, it was scary because you didn't know. >> i just heard unbelievable noise and it was like blast from some bomb or something like that. >> reporter: building's department issued a violation for failure to protect the site to the contractor. the company's paperwork was in order, according to sources. now the workers have to make sure it doesn't happen again. in the meantime, first avenue remains closed, 63rd street remains closed causing big traffic problems all day long. we've spoken to a couple of residents and they the quiet.

it happened in the meat packing district about 4:00 this morning. detectives say a 27-year-old man was pulling out of a spot when his car accidentally collided with a gray mini van. the drivers got into an argument and the driver of the mini van shot the other man twice. he's expected to survive. new details tonight about an outbreak of norovirus in boston. dozens of college students became sick after eating at a chipotle restaurant in boston's cleveland circle. the city inspection report said an employee was sick while working a shift last thursday. the outbreak comes as chipotle tries to rebuild its image after e. coli sickened nine people. prosecution resting its ways today against officer william porter.

the lower 40s but a lot colder in many suburbs. average is 45, we'll be above degrees. what a difference a year makes. last year, we were gearing up for a 2-1/2 inch rainfall that the 10th. this year, totally different as we head for temperatures 10 to 20 degrees above normal by the upcoming weekend. we have patchy fog forming tonight. the problem with that, with below freezing temperatures north and west, maybe a couple icy patches tomorrow morning. a minor shower threat tomorrow night and thursday morning as the milder air comes in and record warmth likely as we head into the weekend. partly to mostly cloudy skies on sunday and around 60. that record set back in 1923, i think we could get above 64. 26 montgomery, so we've already dropped below freezing north and west. that patchy fog forms, we will have the icy spots.

belmont. clouds and sun tomorrow. a times it looks mostly cloudy, other times partly sunny. we're a few degrees milder tomorrow afternoon in the low 50s after the chilly start. we dodge that storm earlier in the day. couple patchy clouds, they've thinned out for now and the problem is the clear sky and light winds, temperatures are dropping, hudson valley, northwest new jersey we could see slippery conditions tomorrow morning. fair amount of waves of cloudiness coming in with the warm air. that's the price we have to pay. cold tomorrow morning, nice in the afternoon with mix of sun and clouds. partly cloudy, areas of fog, few slippery spots north and west, 40 to start the morning but upper 20s and low 30s in the suburbs. intervals of clouds and sunshine tomorrow. as we look at the seven-day forecast, can't rule out the shower on thursday, but it would be very isolated. 60 on friday and saturday and that record warmth a possibility of getting into the mid, maybe upper 60s on sunday.
