miles of picturesque landscape. it's the city's biggest draw. this week, police are investigating a series of armed robberies in the park. >> during the day the, i'm not concerned but i'm never in the park at night. >> reporter: the most recent robbery happening this morning at 70th and central park west. police say two armed men robbed a man, taking his thousand dollars in cash, a cellphone and even -- his $2,000 in cash, a cellphone and even his shoes. >> i don't walk at night and i don't walk before 7:00 in the morning. >> reporter: police believe two armed robberies that happened this week inside the park are connected and the suspects are teenager, 15 to 18 years old. monday night at 11:15 at 97th and central park west, police say the teen's cornered a man with a gun, taking his backpack, credit cards and cellphone. 20 minutes later and six blocks south at 91st street, it's believed the same teens robbed two women taking their purses.

the teens and tried to catch them but they got away. today inside the park most of the people we talked to hadn't heard about the robberies. >> the upest west side, people talk all the time and it's nothing i heard of. >> reporter: her suggestion, maybe the nypd should post signs in the park letting people know when there's a serious safety concern any time day or night. >> a community alert, that would be nice to have. >> reporter: after monday night's robbery, police did recover some items belongings to the suspects including a -- belonging to the suspect including a ski mask. they are hoping to lift a fingerprint that could lead to the suspects. route 19 now open in both directions in new jersey after a bomb scare on a bus forced authorities to shut down traffic in the area. the new jersey transit bus was stopped when passengers reported a suspicious device aboard about 8:30 this morning.

an alarm clock and behaving strangely triggered the concern. the clock was safe. we are following a developing story in boston. transit officials are trying to figure out how a train left a station without an operator. according to investigators, the red line train departed the braintree station around 6:08 a.m. and kept on going. the train was finally stopped when officials depowerred the third rail. the governor of massachusetts told boston herald radio that the train was tampered with my someone who, quote, knew what they were doing. a spokeswoman for the boston fbi office said they were in contact with transit police. the family of a teenager struck can killed by a hit-and- run driver while walking home from a funeral is pleading for increased traffic safety in the area. the new york state senator say relatives of the 17-year-old gathererred this morning at the intersection of northern and junction boulevards. this is where he was killed

they say more road and pedestrian safety measures need to be put in place to prevent deaths. a gas leak that triggered evacuations in brooklyn is now under control. four multi-family homes were evacuated overnight. crews had to open the street to turn off the emergency valve. they have now installed a special bag to contain the leak. people have been allowed back into their homes. and the broken main is now being repaired. police have released new video showing the suspect wanted in connection with a string of arsons in queens. investigators say this man was seen walk near the scene just 10 minutes before a fire on 68th drive. it was the second in a series of seven fires all at homes under construction in forest hills. in the video, you can see the suspect bend down and get a gun from his ankle before putting it into his pocket. now to the latest on the mass shooting in san bernardino. the fbi trying to unlock

other devices the suspects owned. officials also say they have found mysterious photos that they feared may have been future targets of attack. >> reporter: federal authority say they are trying to figure whether the suspects were directed by isis or simply inspired by the terror group, saying the couple made efforts to hide that and other details crucial to the investigation. today the fbi digging into whether syed rizwan farook and tashfeen malik plotted to carry out other attacks. looking into a claim reportedly made the man accused of buying the assault rifle used in san bernardino that he and syed rizwan farook planned an attack in 2012. investigators also fining pictures on syed rizwan farook's phone of the san bernardino high school, a place he visited at least twice as a health inspector. but authorities are working to salvage other details after the couple not only tried to destroy their digital devices

a frightening confrontation between a taxi driver and an uber driver in canada. you see the taxi driver trying to get the uber car to stop ask then instead gets dragged for a short distance. the dangerous scene happening in toronto where cabbies across the city are protesting the ride sharing service. fortunately no one was hurt. also caught on camera, a tractor-trailer explodes on a wow it. alabama. authorities say the truck was carrying chemicals that began the huge blaze. the blast happened about 10 minutes after the big rig was no one was hurt.

saturday when he says the man entered his store, looked at a newspaper cover showing a photo, a photo of tashfeen malik, one of the dead terror suspects from california. and moments later, he says he was beat and he says he feared for his life. >> i was attacked because i am muslim. the guy told me when he punched me, he told me i kill muslim. i was bleeding. and many the hospital. i asked all my muslim brothers and sisters not to be afraid. this is my country. i was in this country for 31 [ applause ] >> reporter: now obviously a very emotional news conference just wrapping up here.

understand, the suspect in this case, a 55-year-old of jacksonville, florida, he was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault. but as we said, police are now reinvestigating this as a possible hate crime. there were many community leaders out here just now showing support for the man and also others in the community showing support for him. he was hospitalized and he had a black eye. he is now recovering but obviously very traumatized. we will have a lot more on what the folks out here had to say channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you. thank you. five years later and no murders. and now this afternoon, suffolk county police will join forces with the feds in hopes of remained stagnant. the department will announce a closer collaboration with federal officials and other law the -- leads.

area on december 11th, 2010. nine more bodies were found in the days and months that followed. an arrest has been made in the robbery and rape of a woman in a building stairwell in brooklyn. the 31-year-old is in custody this morning. police say he rapedded a woman in coney island sunday nigh. police say he is seen in this video shortly after that attack. and he is wanted for robbing another woman less than an hour after that rape. crews are cleaning up the damage at the scene of a wild crash in manhattan that ended custody. this happened as the driver was getting off the manhattan bridge around 9:00 last night. and instead of turning, the driver crashed through median, knocking down the sign and several trees before slamming into a police car right outside of a police precinct. >> it's the busy intersection. so the risk of an accident happening is high. i could have been just walking

and the chilly shots of cooler air will be in the upper midwest. and we are stuck right here with normal to very comfortable temperatures through christmas week. and through the weekend, we know we're looking for temperatures that are 10 to 20 degrees above the normal. and that could put us in record territory. and down the stretch seven to 10 days now, the temperatures look mild. warmest tomorrow at about 2:00. and looking at upper 50s to near 60 and into weekend, we hold that pattern. spin the wheel through the afternoon. and looking at temperatures in the upper 50s. so breaking down the exclusive accuweather forecast numbers, 60 and mile tomorrow. and saturday and sunday, low to mid-60s. just excellent forecast. and near records. we could be breaking the record on sunday. a real possibility. saturday might be out of reach at 68. and monday, a pattern shifts and brings showers in. and the temperatures are well above average. and tracking mid-50s through the middle of next week.
