after a very long search that included temporarily shutting down part of the subway. he was initially arrested for stealing jeans and a jacket at a gap store in the financial district. he was handcuffed behind his back, and placed in a patrol car. during the ride back to the first precinct in tribeca, he somehow slipped off his handcuffs and told the officers he was sick. when they pulled the car over to him help, they say toon kicked the door open and ran toward the franklin street subway where he disappeared into a tunnel. the mta shut down the subway for nearly two hours on the 2 and 3 lines while police searched. around 1:30 this morning they found him at group home in sunset park brooklyn. those two arresting officers who lost track of toon have now been suspensioned. >> they have had their guns and badges removed, and they are totally off the streets. they will go back for a

they will be transferred from their commands, needless to say this will impact on their future careers in the department dramatically. >> reporter: and we've been told their suspension will last at least 30 days. this by the way is the sixth time since june that a suspect has somehow escaped nypd custody. the chief of the department says this is not a training issue but rather a matter of officers simply paying attention. we're live, dray clark channel 7 eyewitness news. thank you. we're following a developing story in new jersey. police in newark are investigating a string of gas station robberies. armed suspects reportedly held up the speedway gas station on park avenue and the exon on mccarter highway early this morning. no injuries were reported. it is unclear exactly how many other places were robbed. we are working this story. we will bring you new information as soon as it becomes available.

dropping, and it's looking like our last weekend of fall will start out blustery. meteorologist bill evans with a look at the accuweather forecast. >> it is getting chilly, and the temperature keeps dropping every hour. here's a look across the park. we have cloudy skies and our temperature is 46. we started at 56 and the temperature has been steadily dropping every hour. now we're at 45 at riverdale. 45 around whitestone queens. normal average afternoon high this time of year, the seasonal average is 42. the wind gusts are cranking out of the west and northwest. you'll see from 22 miles per hour to 24 around newark and about 18 to 21 is kind of common now. newburgh and poughkeepsie 29 miles an hour wind gusts. a couple of sprinkles and some clouds and colder air is trying. high pressure pushing in from the west here, and that will build in this afternoon, make it rather windy. as we go through the afternoon into the evening, you can see the temperature after sunset drops into the low 40s and 30s

tomorrow morning we start out at the freezing mark and below for the first time in a while. tomorrow afternoon we're only looking at temperatures around 41 to 40 degrees. that's normal for this time of the year. we start sunday with temperatures once the wind dies i believe there's upper 20s and right around the freezing mark for sunday mornings. it's going to be a cold weekend. the windchill will be around 30, 27, 30, 31, that's tomorrow at noon. going to be the coldst day of the fall the last weekend of fall. we winter next week. we could have record high temperatures by christmas eve and christmas day. shirleen, david back to you. see you soon. thank you. police have charged the driver of a porsche that crashed into a school bus in queens killing his passenger with dwi. the bus was empty and parked outside ps22 in flushing when the porsche crashed into it. the porsche's female passenger was killed.

sung of long island suffered non-life-threatening injuries. students had to enter the school through side doors as authorities cleared the wreckage from out front. the nypd now investigating two slashings in different boroughs. both of them appear to be random and unrelated. the most recent incident happened in brooklyn. police say a 38-year-old man and his attacker both got off the a train. when the victim walked off the stairs he felt something brush his neck. it was a blade. his wound was within an inch of killed him. this occurred hours after a teenage girl was slashed twice across the face in queens. she survived and so far no arrests have been made. new at noon, new york lawmakers and 11th first responders are applauding congress for extending the zadroga act. the measure was included in the year end tax and spending bill. it will provide money for the through 2021.

a man accused of killing a new jersey mother inside her today. 36-year-old robert grillo was supposed to be arraigned on one murder charge this morning, but grillo did not appear before a judge in elizabeth. it is not clear why he refused. he's accused of strangling 35- year-old yolanda vega inside her rahway home december 7th. a bankrupt rapper lowering his price for his mansion in connecticut again. the new listing in farmington and shown on a realtor's website is 8 1/2 million dollars. that's $10 million less than 50- cent first listed the home for. he bought the mansion for just over $2 million but invested renovations. a number of attacks on bus drivers shows just how

that's only going to be for a short period of time. it's just tomorrow and sunday we start to see the jet stream going back to the north and buckling out here to the west. they'll be colder, plenty of snow in the rockies where there have been record snows, and the sierras and olympias, near record warmth next week as we head towards christmas. tomorrow there could be some flurries around, maybe even in northern new jersey, southeastern new york state, some flurries around with this cold air squeezing out of the moisture. it will feel like the 30s and start the day feeling like the 20s tomorrow. sunday we got sunshine, less wind and 46. the temperatures will keep falling. it's brisk and colder tonight, 20s in the suburbs. it will be blustery colder tomorrow, feels like the 30s in the afternoon, after 20s in the morning and wind gusts tomorrow at 35 miles an hour. you see on saturday a couple of flakes around, blustery and much colder. it will feel like the 30s all day. we're going to be looking at sunday where it's a day where it's less wind and feels better. in ex-week temperatures back off to the races.
