there could be storms throughout the evening. >> eyewitness news reporter michelle charlesworth is at laguardia airport for us. we're going to begin our coverage this afternoon with meteorologist bill evans. he is tracking all of that fog and rain that could slow things down today. bill. >> it's almost like the worst you could possibly have. you got you got rain. the only worse could be like snow and rain mixed and ice and that sort of thing. umbrellas are out here on the upper west side. the rain is starting to develop and continuing to push up from the southwest to the north here and the temperature here at noontime is 56 degrees. we are going to be looking at this rain developing and continuing through the afternoon and starting to get, you know, heavier as we go along. 56 in cambria heights is our temperature now. these temperatures way warm, 20 degrees warmer than normal for this time of the year. look at white plains airport, zero visibility. 8/10 laguardia, 2-mile visibility jfk, a mile at newark, 2 miles at teterboro. this is kind of coming and going this visibility.
12:01 pm
in effect for this afternoon until 6:00 here, morris county, sussex, hunterdon, monmouth, ocean. as you see that fog is just kind of all over the place and reducing visibilities in a lot of spots. the rain i'm talking about is coming up from the southwest. it will be pushing here. see this big batch to the south. that really gets going this evening through the evening commute. rainfall amounts so far, there's been a trace in the park, not much. we are going to be looking at record high temperatures tomorrow, and we possibly could have a record high temperature on christmas day. we'll talk about that too in your accuweather forecast coming up in just a moment. back to you. thank you. as bill mentioned, the fog is having a real impact on the airports in our area. eyewitness news reporter michelle charlesworth is at laguardia air and continues our coverage. a lot of folks behind you michelle. >> oh, yeah. thanks liz. bill was talking about it's fog by out here. there's drizzle.
12:02 pm
and unfortunately there are a fair number of delays here at laguardia, and that goes for arrivals as well as departures. lines are long. patience is as well. try not to check anything. still the biggest problem is the weather elsewhere. the fog is not a huge issue here. it's the plains getting here to pick up everyone and their destination. anecdotally i'm hearing the delays are running 30 minutes to an hour. the worst is as you guys were reporting three hours, all of that is influx and there are cancellations on the boards. >> where are you guys headed? >> dallas. >> fun. >> holiday tradition, what's the deal? >> holiday tradition. my mom's from the area. >> are you on time? >> flight's delayed leaving chicago of course. >> see, chicago on time? >> hopefully. i was just checking but it looks like we're on time. >> on time now? >> no, delayed, 20 minutes delayed. so we'll see. >> first christmas. >> nice. >> are you on time?
12:03 pm
>> oh, man. >> are you on time? >> no, ma'am, i'm not. >> you got here late or your plane's late. >> i missed my plane actually. hoping i get on time. >> i hope so too. >> all right. all good tinsel things for you on your flight. coming back here to a live picture, that is departures boards, also arrivals, white writing is great. red writing means delayed or canceled, and the two canceled departures i see there are to toronto and montreal, so that's telling, definitely call your carrier if you're planning to fly out in the next few days, and it's always stressful for the holidays. the stakes are up because grandma is waiting on the other side. good luck to you. we will keep you posted on facebook, twitter and right here on eyewitness news. we're live at laguardia, michelle charlesworth channel 7 eyewitness news. >> she wants to see her family.

the one-game suspension that the nfl has imposed. take a look at the video. i'm sure you've seen it by now, this was the hot tempered annex that got beckham into trouble. the violent confrontations between him and panthers cornerback josh norman which earned beckham three personal fouls did ugh that game including one for this infamous full speed helmet to helmet hit against norman that only intensified the tension between the two stars that had been brewing even before the game started. there was plenty of outrage after that from fans, players and commentators and the league decided to suspend beckham for one game, which will bench the superstar wide receiver for this week's game against the vikings at least for now. beckham, one of the league's brightest and most flamboyant and controversial stars is appealing that decision, a process that usually takes about two days. beckham and other players have said the panthers were taunting beckham with bats before the

of gay slurs that were being used against him. david giant's coach tom kauffman defended beckham during a press conference stressing that beckham was indeed wrong for what he did but that there are two sides to this story. >> there were factors involved starting in pregame which are well documented which indicate that there was an attempt to provoke him. he was provoked. he was out of control. he did -- he was wrong. there's no doubt about it. but the fact of the matter is if you know the situation pregame with the baseball bat and if you know what occurred at the very beginning of the game, you can understand that you know, there was two sides to this and not just one. >> and again, accusation being that they were using those be thes before the game to taunt beckham and apparently the nfl agrees that beckham was not the only one in the wrong here. we learned today the league did not suspend but has find josh
