bill. as you said it just became official just in the last few minutes. the one-game suspension for beckham has now officially been upheld meaning he will not play in this week yen's game, the critical game against the vikings. take a look at video. beckham said was taunted by the carolina panthers on sunday was suspended by the league for one dame after that heartbreaking loss to the panthers in which beckham over and over again tussled, sometimes violently with josh norman picking up three personal fouls for unnecessary roughness. the low point as we've all seen came with this helmet to helmet hit against norman who has also been fined $26,000 for his role in sunday's mess. today we have heard from both the league and beckham himself after this ruling came down. in a statement the nfl said, "this blind side block was particularly flagrant because beckham with a 10-yard running start had an unobstructed path to the opponent.

by any other player and the contact with the head/neck was avoidable. in his statement, beckham said this. sportsmanship and respect to the game are as important as blocking, running routes and catching the football. i dropped the ball on sportsmanship on sunday, end quote. according to the league beckham will be reinstated but he will miss this critical game against the vikings. we should also point out this is the fourth time in two years in the league that beckham either been fayneed or suspended for his on-the-field antics. for fans keeping their fingers crossed for the postseason certainly the suspension being upheld is the last bit of news they wanted to hear. live outside nfl headquarters in midtown rob nelson channel 7 eyewitness news. >> rob thank you. new at 6:00 two toddlers are found wandering in the parking lot of a motel. police say their mother was forced to leave them alone

eyewitness news reporter marcus solis is there tonight. >> reporter: liz, those kids let themselves out of the hotel room where the family has been living the last few months. it is unclear how long they were wandering in the parking lot in the rain but all told they were left unattended for over six hours. outside the motel room sits a stroller, evidence there were young children inside. but it was the presence of two toddlers outside in the parking lot that led arrest of their mother. it happened yesterday at the continental motel. another resident saw the children ages two and three unattended and dressed only in diapers. the good samaritan what doesn't want to be identified took action. >> i let an hour go by. i bathed them, clothed them, fed them. >> reporter: and she called state police who tracked down the mother. she was taken into custody. the 28-year-old told investigators she left for

>> she just said when she was leaving for work in the morning she left the two children inside the motel room, a little uncertain as to whether or not she actually locked the door or left the door unlocked. either way the children found their way outside of the room. >> reporter: did you see the kids here out in the parking lot with the diapers? >> i don't know. >> reporter: the owner of the motel had little to say other than she had been living there for a few months with her boyfriend and the two chirp. her profile on instagram states, being mother is the best privilege ever, a privilege on hold as the children who are in good condition have been placed into foster care. the good samaritan left in disbelief over the mother's actions. >> reporter: what did she say? >> i never even seen her. she never came back five hours later. >> reporter: and police investigating whether or not this was a pattern of behavior or one-time occurrence. the mother is charged with two counts vein dangering the

but the troubling danger signs for 21-year-old oliver lee actually surfaced on facebook days earlier with this picture posted of the same type of gun next to pills and alcohol. county officials say it's a classic example if you see something alarming on social media, say something. >> if you see something that is not right or alarms you, you could simply take a screen shot of that and sent right through the crimestoppers app. >> reporter: but police say what happened instead was that lee got into a life-or-death struggle for about a minute and a half here at the mall with a retired nypd officer working alongside two others here as they heroically captured lee. >> we have very brave security guard, and we want to make sure that he is fully acknowledged. kenneth krugg. we thank you. >> reporter: one of the other two guards suffered a broken

half an inch from islip over the bridgeport. it's pouring just south of point pleasant. 59 in islip, 56 in poughkeepsie. off and on heavy rain until 10:00 at night. it is more drizzle at midnight, then just fog. could be damp at 8:00 a.m. but look at the starting temperature tomorrow morning. 67. 8:00 a.m. on christmas eve. it should be around 35 degrees. up to 72 by lunchtime with thin spots in the clouds. now we have heavy rain leaving fairfield county and suffolk county. a downpour not too far from stamford over to banksville. you see heavy downpours right there and that's near toms river and stafford. that's going to good offshore and head towards the east end of long island so we're still in this lighter area for another hour. this is all coming north so that's why i think from 7:30 until 9:30 we will get into another heavy batch then it will get lighter. incredible storm in the

for his hearing. it lasted under 90 minutes. he asked the league to overturn a one-game suspension handed out yesterday after his out of control actions sunday. reports were that beckham would argue he lost his cool because of threats from panther players along with possible homophobic barbs. but an hour ago his appeal was turned down sew will not play sunday in minnesota. on his twitter page beckham apologized writing sportsman ship and respect in the game are as important as running routes and blocking. i dropped the ball on spores manship sunday. earlier the coach defended his player. >> to beckham being wrong and the only one wrong is not right. it's not fair it's not justice. it's not the way it was. beckham certainly was wrong, and we said he was wrong from day one. but there were factors involved starting in pregame which are well document, which
