station about 9:00 this evening. a spokesperson is describing the man's presence on the tracks as quote unauthorized. the man was rushed to bellevue hospital. service to the a., c. d. e. and f. lines has resumed at this time but we are told there are residual delays. now to the bedbug nightmare, a couple from california thought they were on a dream vacation to new york city. >> but take a look at this. they saw this -- they say rather that this is what they found under their mattress at the as tor on the park hotel on the upper west side. tonight they are speaking only to eyewitness news. >> cefaan kim is outside the hotel with their story. cefaan? >> reporter: well, joe and sandra, it was a gift from his mother to celebrate his big 30th birthday. his first vacation with his girlfriend as a couple and they were supposed to do the ball drop in times square and take in all the sights and sounds of the city but the california man says because of the bedbugs inside this hotel, it will be a

>> on my birthday, i'm in the hospital and i'm washing the best clothes that i brought that i owned for this vacation and actually during that process, many of her clothes became damaged because they're not meant to be dried. >> reporter: hundreds of dollars of the the belongings cleaned and meanwhile he says his girlfriend's body is still inflamed and is furious. and she can't eat because she's nauseous and she's not the only one. we showed this video to neighbors and hotel guests, the reaction was pretty much what you'd expect. >> it was disgusting, i don't really feel like sleeping here. >> reporter: teddy phillips from australia has been staying here for a week and says her stay has been near perfect. a clean room with no complaints. but after seeing in. >> pretty disturbing that's for sure, like if we'd seen that a couple of days ago we would have possibly checked out and gone and stayed somewhere else. >> reporter: now we tried multiple times and multiple ways to get the hotel side of this story.

we also reached out to the department of housing and urban development but have not heard back. they did refund him but he says it's about the memories he came for and never got. on the upper west side, cefaan kim, channel 7 eyewitness news. okay thank you. new at 11:00, authorities are investigating threats allegedly made against newark mayor. his spokeswoman says this weekend at his mother's home, he found two letters written in october that contained threats. the statement said city facilities were also threatened. information. newark police and essex county letters. investigators in new jersey are awaiting the results of an autopsy tonight after human i mains were found -- remains were found in a home damaged by fire. it was found in clifton after firefighters were able to knock down the flames.

eyewitness news reporter tim fleischer will have reaction from neighbors coming up in our next half hour. a sad end to the search for a 5-year-old autistic boy. his body has been found. the child wantered off from a new year's eve party at a home in pennsylvania's lehigh county. he'd been playing with other children at the time and his parents said he was barefoot and not wearing a coat. his body was discovered in a canal this afternoon a short distance from where that party was being held. he served his country as a sergeant with the air national guard. he died for his country. fighting terrorists in afghanistan. mourners gathered on long island today for an emotional farewell to a husband, a father, and a patriot louis bonacasa. eyewitness news reporter mallory hoff has the story from coram. >> reporter: mourners gathered for the funeral service for new

union dale last saturday night. two people suffered minor injuries. meanwhile, a man from connecticut is under arrest after weapons were found inside his car outside gillette stadium in massachusetts. police say they found a sword, meat cleaver, a cross bow and stun gun in matthew bronson's car outside the winter classic in foxboro. bronson from north gran by faces charges including assault with a dangerous weapon. his arraignment is scheduled for monday. today president obama signed an emergency declaration for missouri as parts of that state remain flooded. the mississippi river is surging south breaching levies and flooding small towns. the river crested in cape joy rash doe overnight but the water only just began to drain away. in the st. louis area people are just starting to deal with the damage there. one man's house built to withstand flooding was swept away anyway. >> living on the riverring you know you expect -- river you

but you know you put stuff high and river goes down and you wash stuff and carry on. you never expect your house to float away. >> the governor of illinois declared 12 counties disaster areas. he wants people in threatened areas to leave their homes in case of a levy breach. the flooding has killed 24 people and destroyed hundreds of homes. a wake with a shake. an earthquake hit northern new jersey that quake struck around 1:00 this morning and registered 2.1 on the richter scale. that doesn't usually cause major tremors, but police in ringwood got about 50 calls right after it happened. the quake hit about five miles underground along the ramapo fault line. which is one of the oldest and longest fault lines in the world. >> well, usually people call in with their damage. we had no damage reported. we do contact an observatory and they'll give us a full report probably monday or tuesday of exactly what happened.

saudi arabia has sparked new unrest in the middle east with the announcement it executed 47 prisoners including a prominent shiite cleric. iran warned that the sunni led saudi monarchy would pay a heavy price for the death of theshake. he had rallied protests against the government and was convicted on twitch charges. -- terrorism charges, also executed were al-qaeda detainees convicted of attacking forces a decade ago. indian forces appear to have secured a military base after the early morning terrorist attack. suspected militants infiltrated the base near the border with pakistan before dawn. they exchanged fire with troops for hours and officials say four gunmen were killed and two indian military personnel died.

down. one of his passengers was unconscious. the officers began cpr but they couldn't get a pulse. they were finally able to get his heart beating again using a defibrillator. 60-year-old man is in the hospital where he again is reportedly recovering. a woman carjacked and kidnapped at a gas station. her escape caught on camera and how strangers tried to help catch the suspect. >> plus, it's not what "game of thrones" fans want to hear. the author of the series makes a big announcement about the latest book. >> and a live look outside on this saturday night. it finally feels like winter and even colder temperatures

temperature right now 35. that wind coming in from the west at 7. so the high on the day got up to 40 after a morning low of 32. so even though it felt so chilly out there, today that was mainly because we just got off of such a warm december. the warmest december by far that we've ever had. in new york city. but still today even though it got up to about 40 it felt chilly and still a little bill above average for this time the year, the about 39. bright and breezy out there tomorrow. temperatures a few degrees warmer than they were today. probably mid 40s but because of the wind it won't feel that mild. the cold air really arrives late tomorrow night into monday. coldest so far this season. coldest since last february as a matter of fact. when we had the really, really bitter days. 32 newark and 31 at tear bro right now. 31 -- teterboro right now. 31 white plains. some areas north and west of the city already below freezing. 37 in morristown and monticello. 25 at toms river because you have more significant clearing down there.

he was killed december 21st in afghanistan in a suicide bombing. topping the news this half hour, one person is dead after flames ripped through a home in new jersey. the fire started just before 2:00 on new year's day. >> but it wasn't until the flames were out that firefighters found human remains inside. tonight, neighbors in clifton are sharing their shock over the discovery. eyewitness news reporter tim fleischer has the details. >> called fire department. came outside ask the house was pretty much fully involved. >> reporter: mike living just two doors away hurried to his it in flames. it took he says just a matter of moments. >> it sounded like it might have been something exploded in there before also. a propane tank or something went off but as far as we knew, i didn't know if there was anyone in there or not. clifton firefighters arrived at the home on pershing road and began working to knock down the fire which neighbors said engulfed the second floor.

reporting from clifton, tim fleischer, channel 7 eyewitness news. the suspect in a deadly shooting outside a bar in tel- aviv. officials say he is from an arab village in northern israel. family members who recognized the man from surveillance video say that he is a troubled young man. yesterday, he pretended to be a customer in a store before putting down his backpack and then opening fire on a bar next door. two people were killed. seven others hurt. in brooklyn, police arrested a teenager cops say he opened fire on a fleeing crowd. this handgun was found at the scene. three police officers sitting in an unmarked patrol car last night in bedford-stuyvesant saw the teenager shoot at the crowd. they got out and chased hill down. the suspect was -- him down. suspect was not identified. investigators charged him as a juvenile. no word on any injuries. we are hearing from an attorney for the so-called

a surveillance video shows 18- year-old ethan couch in a shop in mexico. his lawyer is arguing that in mexico. he says the mexican government is trying to deport couch because it's easier than extradition. still, the deportation could take months. couch is wanted in the u.s. for probation. take a at this. a bystander -- look at that. a bistandser in western new york took down the armed robber. police say a man walked into the store in erie county and demanded cash from the clerk. moments later, watch as a citizen with a large flashlight rushed in and bashed the robber in the head several times. the blows knocked the man to the floor. police arrested him a short time later and investigators linked man to two other armed robberies in the area. just as blue bell puts ice cream back on the shelves, following a listeria outbrake, the justice department launched

not going to be tolerated. >> i think we need to be more careful that people need to be cognizant of what they're doing. >> a man walking his dog says two men who appeared to be dressed for the parade shouted gay slurs at him and punched him in the face. some nephrismers say they were taken for a ride -- new year's eve revelers say they were taken for a ride after the celebrations ended. people have been posing may notes on -- posting complaints on social media about uber's surge pricing. the company charges a higher rate with greater demand for cars. surge rate as high as nine times as the original cost of the ride on new year's eve. the company says the majority didn't have a surge fare and also share rides. for some train commuters in connecticut, the new year brings a fare hike. the state d. o. t. raised the fares on metro-north's new haven line by 1%. that few rate went into effect yesterday.

a mechanical mishap led to a strange moment during mt. lee crew's final -- motley crue's final show. it happened during tommy lee's big drum solo. lee was performing on a drum set mounted to a roller coaster track above the crowd. but last night, that coaster broke down leaving lee you see it there. he is suspended upside down at the staples center in l. a.. the road crew quickly freed the rocker who climbed down to the stage. lee took the incident in stride. joking that he can't believe it

during the afternoon despite the fact we get up to the middle 40s and then the arctic express comes into the area. for monday into tuesday, we head outside right now and a look over to midtown from the camera in astoria queens, that temperature 35 and mostly clear skies. that wind coming in from the west around 7 miles per hour. i think temperature is pretty much stopped falling for the night as you can see the next seven hours our computer not els showing. thes at -- models showing at temperatures actually staying at 35 right through 6:00 in the morning. that southwest wind coming in about 5 to 10. highs today got up to 40 in the park and average high is around 39. so despite the fact that it felt so much colder than it has been, it was kind of a shock to the system after the warmest december on word. still a -- record. still a little bit above average. where you have now fallen into the upper 20s in places like middletown and andover, new jersey and 27 in monticello. 29 at caramel right now. you're down the 26 wrightstown

now middle part of long island at islip. clear skies from southwest to northeast. but the big story during the next several days will be the arctic air arriving. the coldest air since last winter as a matter of fact. tomorrow it's going to still be located north of the u.s. canadian border. first thing monday, that front slides on through the tristate area. and with the frontal passage there could be snow shower or a flurry especially north and west of new york city and by tuesday the front is all the way down to say north carolina, and even beyond say next week, the pattern would favor waves of cold air moving into the area. this storminess though, the storm track stays far enough off to the south. not much in the way of cough by nations of a lot of -- combinations of a lot of moisture and cold. not that many snow opportunities and lows tonight down to about 34 in the park and highs tomorrow about 44 degrees. here's the accuweather forecast for tonight.
