>> their bodies found around 7:00 p.m. and it's an active scene right now as police try to determine what happened. >> eye witness news reporter lucy yang is on the scene with details. >> reporter: sandra and joe, i'm at 2364 bat shelder street where police were called to a gruesome scene. these are the sheeps bed hay houses. an adult female and male were found dead. investigators report there was so much blood in the apartment it was hard to process the crime scene. i'm told it looks like it may have been a shooting but of course the medical examiner must determine the exact cause of death. as we speak, detectives are talking to a 15-year-old girl who is the daughter of the woman who was killed. the man is said to be the mother's boyfriend.

found killed in an apartment here. the mother's 15-year-old daughter is now with police as officials try to determine exactly what happened in this double tragedy tonight. we are turning to a developing story. a pedestrian was struck and killed while cross thing street in new jersey. police say the 75-year-old man was attempting to cross bloomfield avenue when he was hit. the victim was pronounced dead and the driver did remain on the scene. the investigation is ongoing. so far, no charges have been filed. . in connecticut now a 3-year-old girl died in a condo fire in bridgeport this morning. smoke quickly filled the unit. five other people including two children were hurt. officials tell eye witness news the smoke alarms inside the

condo were all disabled. the cause is under investigation. dramatic video from newark as fire rips through a school bus seconds before it was full of track team members. the bus is destroy and had many belongings and everyone on the team is safe thanks to a fast acting coach. mallory hoff is in newark with the story. >> reporter: this is where the bus went up in flames. there were 32 students on board, an assistant coach and a bus driver. tonight all of them are okay because one person got their attention. a yellow school bus with student athletes inside bursts into flames. a track and field coach jumps into action. >> we were saying come out right now. >> reporter: the bulldogs were in front of their school preparing to head to an essex county meet. head coach daymond harrison was outside the bus. >> i happened to be looking right across where from the bus

given 48 hours to leave saudi arabia and all saudi diplomats have been recalled home. the officers were the deadly terror attack happened in san bernardino will reopen tomorrow. more than 600 workers will return tomorrow. the campus has been locked behind a fence since december 2nd when they went on a rampage. 14 people were kill and had 21 injured. the conference hall where the massacre happened will remain closed indefinitely. president obama plans to meet with loretta lynch to discuss what actions he can take to reduce gun violence. on tuesday he's expected to announce executive actions meant to strengthen background checks. he'll participate in a town hall meeting at george mason university to talk about reducing gun violence. new york governor andrew

cuomo wants to protect the homeless from freezing winter temperatures. he issued an executive order requiring local governmentes to move homeless people into shelters when the temperature drops below 32 degrees. some homeless people don't like the order. a man named mitchell said he's been attacked in a shelter. >> i got jumped and they broke one of my ribs. i'm willing to comply but i'm afraid. >> the order does not provide additional funding to help communities house homeless people. it goes into effect on tuesday, although the temperature is forecasted to drop below freezing before then. in rural oregon, armed protesters angry at the federal government have seized control of a national wildlife refuge. they moved in on the refuge after a rally yesterday.

burglaries in one staten island business complex. the most recent this morning. he scoped out a fast food restaurant on richmond avenue and he smashes the front door with a large rock. he clearly doesn't realize the cameras could capture his face outside the restaurant. after vandaling the glass he covers the face with a rag. cash is taken and call the nypd if you have any idea who this man is. in west orange, new jersey, a church fire on friday didn't keep a pentecostal congregation from holding worship services tonight. the congregation worshipped at a shap well in newark. new year's day fire forced them into a temporary building.

single numbers north and west of the city by late tomorrow night. 37 in midtown and that wind coming in from the west at 9 miles per hour. this is after getting up to a high of 45 today and after a morning low of 35. that was 5 to 7 degrees above average for this time of the year. 16 years ago on this date, i can't believe the year 2000 was 16 years ago. 64 balmy degrees. got all the way to minus 4 in 1896. the coldest air mass arrives tomorrow. tomorrow will be the coldest since march 6th when it got down to 12 degrees in central park. a moderating trend ensues for the rest of the week. by the time the next significant precipitation event comes in by next weekend it's probably in the form of plain old rain. you've already cooled down to 28 at monticello and 30 at sussex

you can see on the radar with the arctic front approaching there have been a couple light flurries and they're tending to weaken as they move to the south and east. you can't rule a flurry out overnight tonight well north and west of new york city. let's check out the temperatures on the future cast. 8:00 in the morning around 30 in the city and 20s north and west. watch what happens to the temperature during the day despite a ton of sunshine during the afternoon. temperatures dropping into the middle 20s by 5:00 p.m. and then well down into the teens tomorrow night some single numbers north and west and recovering barely up to 30 degrees during the day tuesday. you add the wind into the equation and you get your windchill, which is basically how it feels outside. by 5:00 p.m. tomorrow it'll feel like 13 in the park and single numbers north and west and by early tuesday morning it feels like below zero.

here's the accuweather forecast. partly cloudy, brisk cold and maybe a flurry north and west of the city. 29 at 7:20 for sunrise and blustery and noticeably cold er and temperatures dropping to 17 tomorrow night. tuesday is bright and very cold. only 30 for a high. we warm things up on wednesday, about 40 and talking mid-40s thursday and mainly cloudy friday and could be rain late in the day and at night that lasts into saturday. 47 and 45 we clear out by next sunday. get ready for it. bundle up the next couple of day is. the nfl season is not even five hours long yet and the firings have already happening but tom coughlin is still the team's head coach for now. we'll hear from him and his players.

end of the nfl season for both teams. hard to believe. >> i know. most exciting part of the season is starting and no new york teams involved. the giant's team is over and we don't have answers on tom coughlin's future. he was focussed on ending the year with one final win as the giants hosted the eagles in today's finale. his entire family was on hand. philly had nothing to play for but pride. demarco murray, that's the longest run of the season. 54 yards for the touchdown. it was the giants doing anything to climb back into it. eli manning will tie for the 9-yard strike and made it a one point game. giants still looking for the lead and that should do it. manning airing it up to randle, the giants win. the jubilation didn't last long. manning throwing again and gets tipped into thurman who sees nothing but the end zone.

officers found the bodies after 7. police have not said how they died. a 75-year-old man was struck and killed while trying to cross the street in newark. the man died at the hospital. the driver remained on the scene. no charges have been filed. a high school track team is safe tonight after they narrowly escaped a bus fire. if bus started smoking outside chabaz high school and the track team coach saw the smoke and alerted them to get off the bus. a family tragedy in connecticut. a toddler killed in a fast moving fire. >> 3-year-old sincere pettway was trapped in her room when smoke and flames filled the apartment. family members and neighbors tried to rescue the little girl and couldn't reach her in time. >> kemberly richardson has the story.

>> my mom was telling me how she was just telling her yesterday how she was her best friend. so the family loved her very much. >> reporter: memories reverend glenn pettway is holding onto tonight. sweet stories about his second cousin sincere pettway. the 3-year-old was killed in a fire here this morning. just after 3:30 blood curdling screaming for help woke up many. sincere's mother was outside and was able to get two kids out of the unit but when she tried to go back for sincere the smoke and heat were too intense. >> she said i tried but she showed me her hands were all burned. she said the doorknob was so hot >> i have grand kids and that was the first thing that came to mind. try to rescue her or something. i just didn't do it. i didn't have the courage to do it.

>> reporter: shenise and two other women were asleep with all three kids and the fire started downstairs in the kitchen. it wasn't the flames but the smoke that proved deadly. when firefighters did find sincere she was curdled up in her crib in her bedroom. >> the second floor was filled with smoke. the guys had zero viz sxblt they found her by feel. >> reporter: robert fernandez also has a 3-year-old. >> they saw them take the little girl out of the window. it was a horrific sight. everybody was praying at that point. it wasn't good. >> reporter: as for those who tried to save sincere, fire officials say that was impossible. the levels of carbon monoxide would have killed them all. the smoke alarms inside the unit, officials tell me, they were all disabled. in bridgeport, kemberly richardson, channel 7 eye witness news. police arrested a driver on

license that had been suspended more than 80 times. this afternoon police pulled over 43-year-old eric dunbar for speeding in medford. he gave police a pennsylvania driver's license but officers discovered he also had a new york license that had been suspended 88 times for failing to answer traffic tickets. investigators charged him with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motorcycle. in harlem police uncovered a stash of guns while making an arrest. the officers pulled over a driver using a cell phone near 145 street in len knox avenue. that's when they discovered the driver had a suspended license and four loaded guns in the car. he now faces several weapons charges. new video of that cargo ship that sank last october after getting caught in a hurricane. today they released this video

air b&b banaled the teenager and the company covers property losses up to a million dollars but this couple will not rent again a kitten suffers abuse including having his fur dyed before being dropped off at a shelter. the cat now named smurf because of his temporary color had puncture wounds. surgery is scheduled for next week hopefully closing the wounds. the shelter says smurf is a normal and sweet cat. once he recovers he and a new buddy will be put up for adoption together.

the workweek and things moderate mid to late week. after two days of very cold weather, we're back in the 40s by wednesday into thursday. we head outside and we have to get through the two days of cold weather. we're looking at the southern end of the park. 432 park avenue that sticks up there in the middle of your screen. sandra, don't you have the penthouse at the top? >> oh, yeah. >> yeah, if you win the power ball. wind from the west at 9 miles per hour. that wind will be picking up tomorrow and that'll make the temperatures colder. we're down to about freezing by 4:00 in the morning in the cities. the temperatures going down by a degree or so each hour through then. highs today got up to 45 in the park and got up to 50 at tom's river. now we've fallen in the upper 20s areas north and west of the city. monticello at 38 at kingston and poughkeepsie.

you'll be dropping quickly as the front moves by. freezing at belmar and 31 on the island. speaking of the arctic cold front, here it is. ahead of it you're getting know showers making their way into ulster county. you can't rule that out overnight. look just north of the u.s./canadian border, really, really cold that'll be dumped on us. 29 overnight in the city and 32 early tomorrow and temperatures falling back in the 20s during the afternoon. it favors waves of cold air. the week of january 11th through 15 we start getting into a cold pattern again. 32 tomorrow early and 20s in the afternoon and feeling like the teens and we get down to 17 tomorrow night. that's the coldest weather since march. bright and cold on tuesday and 30 for a high. we're talking mid-40s on
