a deadly accident in suffolk county is being blamed on black ice. police say an s.u.v. lost control and slammed into a suffolk county transit bus on montauk hay just before 7:00 a.m. the s.u.v. driver was pronounced dead on the scene. no passengers were on the bus. southampton police say this was one of 17 accidents caused by black ice over an eight-hour period. speaking of the conditions, let's talk about the temperature and what could be a rainy weekend for us. we will continue to see the temperature rising from this point on. 45 around j.f.k. 42 teterboro. 43 around newark and 40 white plains. these numbers are warm, warmer than normal. temperatures should be about 35, 36 degrees.

return. a big pattern change. a pattern change. very important phrase. we will talk about that next in the accuweather weekend forecast. >> bill, thank you. new at noon, police are looking into whether a suspect that ambushed a police officer in a cruiser in philadelphia had been radicalized. exclusive surveillance images show the moment when edward archer walked up to a police night. police say archer fired 13 shots hitting the officer three officer hartnet shot back. he is in the hospital in stable unclear. we will have a report from philadelphia at noon. a firefighter was injured battling a raging house fire in nassau county. the flames broke out at a home in oceanside this morning. the fire was so intense that it melted some of the siding on the outside of the home. one firefighter was treated at the scene.

the cause of the fire is under investigation. a fire ripped through a home in the flatbush section of brooklyn. this fire started in the basement. officials say con ed and fdny investigators investigating the lower level of the building to try to determine what was the exact cause of the fire. it broke out about 6:30 this morning and quickly spread to the two-story structure. everyone made it out safely and no firefighters were injured. also in brooklyn, an s.u.v. overturned in east flatbush just before 7:00 a.m. newscopter 7 was over the scene at ralph avenue and schneider where the vehicle ended up on its side. as you see, two em were hurt and taken to the hospital. their -- two people were hurt and taken to the hospital. two people on long island survived after the car got wedged under a semi trailer. the car lost control and 5th in bayshore about 5:20 a.m. firefighters extracted the driver and passenger.

police say the man accused of slashing a woman in chelsea may have committed several similar attacks. carry bases more -- kari bazemore has been linked to a similar attack last week. his family says he has a long history of mental illness. since 1997. bazemore is undergoing police custody. crews in manhattan are working to fully restore oxygen service to a hospital after a man who fell from a roof damaged some equipment. police say a man jumped from a building next to roosevelt hospital and landed on an oxygen tank or the wires of the oxygen tank about 2:00 this morning. he was pronounced dead at the scene. the impact of the fall severed the tank's line and disrupted the flow of oxygen to the building. the er.

oxygen tanks were distributed. a confrontation with an unruly passenger on a united airlines flight lead to scary moments. it was forced to make an emergency landing in detroit after the woman attacked a flight attendant. marci gonzales joins us with more. >> reporter: david, passengers nowhere. the woman, whose name has not been released yet started screaming then turned violent. letter police questioning this woman after an in flight outburst last night that forced pilots to make an emergency landing. >> do you need any other assistance besides police at the gate? >> reporter: the flight took off from new york's laguardia airport after 7:00 p.m. heading for chicago. 30 minutes in to the flight the passenger asked if she could get off the plane. when a flight attendant said >> she scratched her face.

caught on camera, two new jersey state troopers help a pregnant mother make an emergency delivery on the side of the road. >> there you go. one, two, three, push. >> breath, breathe. >> there you go. there you go. there we go. >> i love that. there we go. sounds like they have done this before. dash-cam video shows the troopers delivering a baby girl monday morning right there on the shoulder of the garden township. >> observed the baby's head so i cleared the airway, i turned the baby's head to the side and she had to continue pushing. that's what we did, just gave her instructions and the baby >> it did. both troopers assisted with cutting the umbilical cord beforehanding the baby over to mom.

delivered a baby before. looks like their training did kick in. also on camera, firefighters dive inside a garbage truck to rescue a man picked up by a dumpster. the homeless man was asleep inside the dumpster when he ended up in the back of the garbage truck in california. you can imagine how this could have ended. the truck made several stops before sanitation workers got out of a gate to access another dumpster and they heard yelling and pounding and they called in a rescue crew to get the guy out. the man was injured but he is expected to be okay. finally an owl is an internet star after she photo bombed a traffic camera in canada. look how majestic. the camera was rolling on highway 40 when a snowy owl swooped in and wanted the close- up. someone noticed the video online. wildlife experts say the young female owl was probably planning on landing on the post

it's time for the feed, stories that got the start on social media. we start with an ad that got pulled because many believe it reinforces racist stereotypes. a thai cosmetic company forced to apologize after they did a spot where a woman in black face. the spot marked the beauty cream with the words white skin makes you win. it didn't take long for social media to slam the ad.
