meteorologist lee goldberg tracking and timing he's at the weather wall. >> that snow alert is aggressive but certainly first flakes flying in new york city. here's what's new at 11:00. we're going to get in the 40s tomorrow despite limited sun. that will play a big role in road conditions. wet areas. i'm concerned about bursts of snow that come after sunset. city streets likely to be wet. 27 degrees, clear right now. the wind is starting to back off. the winds have started to calm down. still feels like we're in the teens but winds will be light in to tomorrow radar and satellite clear for now but an impressive the great lakes. a couple inches in the chicago area. afternoon. here's an idea of timing. about 2:00, 3:00 in to

the restaurant and plays with her friends and we worry. >> reporter: parents are holding the hands of their children a little tighter tonight and with good reason. watch as this little boy tries to cross 29th street. he cautiously steps off the corner. then makes absolutely sure there's time to cross suddenly blindsided by an access a ride mini bus. he was apparently struck by the driver's side mirror and staggers to the sidewalk in a daze. residents say he was later treated for minor injuries but the shocking close call has left residents here badly shaken. >> it is getting more dangerous all the time because there are more and more people living here and it is a disaster waiting to happen unless the d.o.t. steps in. >> reporter: residents have pleaded with the city's department of transportation for more than three years. holding rallies and demanding that the intersection at 29th street and 39th avenue be made a four-way stop. >> unfortunately nothing was ever done. nothing. >> reporter: but

were once industrial that are were once industrial that are becoming increasingly burkett, channel 7 eyewitness news. meanwhile here in manhattan 7th avenue tonight reopening to traffic after it was closed because of falling debris. sidewalk shed now in place outside the sheraton hotel in midtown where three pieces of paneling fell overnight, high winds last night likely contributed to this. the nypd just a short time ago releasing new video of a vehicle they're looking for in a deadly hit and run in brooklyn. police say 49-year-old rodney graham was hit by two vehicles on sunday while walking near atlantic and rockaway avenues in brownsville. the second driver stayed at the scene. a homeowner is left to pick up the pieces tonight after a destructive house fire in the bronx. newscopter7 over the scene tonight in the woodlawn section showing flames ripping through the top of the home. the fire broke out on the first floor and quickly spread to the roof. east 236th street was

to get the flames under control. the hunt is on right now to find a fifth and final suspect in the brutal gang rain of a young woman in a brooklyn part. the alleged teenagers each took their turn raping the 18-year-old girl after holding her at gunpoint, forcing her father to leave her side. lucy yang in prospect heights. >> four young boys are now being questioned inside the special victims unit behind me. detectives believe they viciously gang raped a teenaged girl inside a brooklyn playground. officials add there was a fifth attacker and they are aggressively trying to find him tonight. >> reporter: in this new surveillance video obtained by eyewitness news, you see the father of the rape victim in the black coat with red sleeves trying to get help. he says he had difficulty convincing someone to call 911. >> put a gun in my face, telling me to run. all of them had their way with her. >> it's a very complicated set

>> reporter: it is a horrific crime, made more confusing by the details. last thursday night a father and his 18-year-old daughter admit they were drinking at the osborne playground in brownsville. that's when a group of five teenaged boys allegedly put a gun to the father's head, told him to leave while they gang raped his daughter. >> i was real scared. i didn't know what to do. i was in a panic mode. >> reporter: police released this footage which they believe shows the five attackers. by sunday night two were captured, another two turned in by their families. authorities grateful for the clear images. >> the footage made it inevitable to these assailants that they were going to be arrested. that's why we have four of the five. >> as you walk by this park tonight, what are your thoughts? >> i'm scared because from the lady tell me, i'm just scared to walk here. >> reporter: according to sources, the boys are now

shot by a fellow police officer over the weekend while trying to break up a brawl in the bronx. police say they were exchanging fire with christopher rice, a suspect who was struck four times and seriously hurt. the 19-year-old is now facing a string of charges tonight. the the shooting. >> it was a very chaotic situation up there with the number of shooters including police as well as suspects coming out of that party and we have a very good idea now of the circumstances who shot what and where. >> since the shooting was a case of friendly fire, it's now up to the da to determine how the charges against rice may change. he was always innovative, always creative. tonight the world seems a bit less creative. the great songwriter and performer david bowie died two days after his 69th birthday and after a quiet battle with cancer. fans in south london paying homage by a mural of bowie near his birthplace. on the hollywood walk of fame, his

it clarifies women in their 40s should make an individual decision on when to start and women with a family history of breast cancer may benefit more from starting early. attorneys for bill cosby claiming the sex assault charge filed against him is illegal. lawyers for cosby say it violates the prosecutor's pledge that the entertainer would not be charged over the sexual counter in 2004. because of that promise they say cosby testified in a civil suit. 10 years later a new prosecutor used that testimony to file charges against mr. cosby. turning now to weather. we've got snow on the way. not too bad . >> i don't know that your snow tire insulation gets validated tomorrow but at least snow would be an accomplishment. we look at central park, but the idea of seeing a coating in the park, that's a 1 in 3 shot. at 11:17

the wind is out of it's backed off a little bit but still brisk and the high today, 40 degrees. pretty average day. there are your records as well. here's what you need to know. it's colder but calmer. cloudier as we go through the morning hours tomorrow. you're fine till 3:00 in the afternoon or so. snow will come in late tomorrow. could leave a coating in spots. best chance will be north and west. then a wet start. our next storm would be the weekend. looks like it's going to warm up enough to get rainfall. 16 in monticello. subfreezing everywhere. these are the areas i'm worried about. montgomery, danbury, north. these are the areas that could see a coating to even an inch in the higher elevations. it's going to be hard to see snow stick on the island down the shore, even in the five boroughs. light snow in the afternoon. then snow in to the evening hours and quickly departing by 8:00 or 9:00.

at the snow from detroit back to chicago. so there's our little snowstorm. in terms of tomorrow morning it's cold, clouding over. teens in the coldest spots north and west but we warm up quickly. in the 40s from the city south and east. that's why i'm not concerned about area roads for the beginning of the evening commute unless you're well north and west. snow showers try to get close. then it's still mixing on the island. this is when a burst can come in with the actual arctic front and things would wind down in the early evening hours. in terms of accumulation, maybe up to a coating in new york city. colder surfaces. once you get north and west of i-287 you could have a coating to an inch and this is where roads could get slippery. tomorrow up to 40. quickly the clouds are increasing. becomes breezy and that late afternoon mix or snow will go to snow showers in to the evening hours. sunset about 10 minutes to 5:00. evening snow becoming partly cloudy and much colder.

moisture tomorrow evening will freeze on area roadways. could be slippery in to the wednesday morning commute. on wednesday even if you don't see a lot of snowfall, the big impact on wednesday is definitely going to be the colder temperatures. the feel-like readings wednesday morning could be from zero to 15 degrees. keep that in mind. thursday, chilly. sunshine. on friday we're clouding up. on saturday look ing at more rain coming in. probably stead iest in the morning and could start out as a brief mix to the north and west. by sunday getting much colder. may have heard some buzz about a potential snowstorm early next week. that doesn't seem to be in the cards right now though i think it's very cold leaning in to drier forecasts. we'll keep watching that potential for you. coming up next, the easy and yes, perhaps even a bit chez cheesy way to help you get a better night sleep. consumer reports puts them to the test for you.
