trip to help those in need. 30 members of the columbia community, mostly students, bringing medical care to rural honduras. they finished their work, on a bus back to the airport for a trip home when that bus lost control and hurdled down a ravine. when it was over, columbia senior and sophomore lost their lives. a third person described as a 35-year-old healthcare professional also died. eight others were listed in critical condition including a college sophomore from scarsdale. columbia medical brigade is a chapter of a nonprofit called global brigades which works with chapters on college campuses across the u.s. and europe. late tonight the university released a statement saying three fatalities have been reported and the families notified. we're in the process of determining the full extent of injuries sustained by the bus passengers and contacting families of our students. columbia medical support and

honduras overnight to provide additional onsite assistance. our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by this tragic loss. >> this affected students from both columbia college and barnard college, a part of columbia university. the president of barnard tonight identifying the third fatality as abigail flanagan. she was a nurse practitioner at columbia presbyterian who was along for this medical journey to honduras. students who can are already returning to new york. there are as many as eight still being treated with critical injuries. in the meantime authorities in honduras are blaming mechanical failure for this crash. we're live on the columbia campus in morningside heights, josh einiger, channel 7 eyewitness news. a developing story. didn't take the new york football giants very long to decide on a new head coach. the team tonight naming somebody already on staff as the 17th head coach of the storied football team. so who is it?
