everything was okay. nypd officer andrew youric is recovering. >> he did fine. i think he's going to be okay. >> earlier today, they arrived to check in. they stayed outside the home for the afternoon. youric is expected to be okay. after investigators say it appears his bulletproof vest saved his life. it's a scenario all too familiar for the youric family. his father is a retired police officer. he, too, survived after being shot while on the job in 1989. he was also saved by a bulletproof vest. >> crazy. all of a sudden, many years ago this happened and now it happens again. it's crazy. >> it's really incredible. two men both saved by a bulletproof vest. the family tonight is asking for comfort, loving support as well as their privacy at this time. live in nassau county, mallory hoff, channel 7, eyewitness
