grandmother, i'll make call. he paused, took a breath and gave them the address. he didn't even shed a tear. reporter: that's bravery for the smart second grader keeping it together calling 911. >> he said that he was hurt, that they hit him. that something came in through the window and that he needed them to come. reporter: hurt after police say an argument led to a shootout near his home on rosa parks boulevard. monday evening, they say de leon heard the shots and went to the window to check it out. >> the kids were playing and six shots were fired, one of them struck him in the shoulder above his heart. reporter: sadly, that's what happened to 12 year old genesis. she was killed by a stray bullet while riding her scooter outside of her house a year and a half ago just across the

police officers, firefighters and municipal court employees will work through the shut down. the city hopes to save a meeting -- shut down. for tonight. a preschool in manhattan will have counselors present after a 4 year old student was removed from class. video of the child throwing things at people was shot by a teacher. according to the child's mother, her son is being kept in isolation in a stairwell for misbehaving and throwing tantrums. the school district says it is investigating the claims. now to an eyewitness news investigators exclusive, construction workers drinking during their lunch break. here's the investigation. . reporter: it could be mistaken for a friday happy hourment it's -- hour. it's actually lunchtime at three different bars

these guys are construction workers from at least four different building sites. . >> you guys want it straight up? >> yeah, sure. reporter: they work hard and they drink hard. our cameras found lunch is secondary to the liquor with lots of drinking, little to no eating. >> liquid lunch, you keep your figure, right? >> yeah. reporter: the city's building boom has brought a spike in construction fatalities. eighteen deaths last year. there's no way of telling if alcohol played a role but one safety expert says the dangers of mixing booze with construction is undeniable. >> the people who are supposed to be over seeing the safety are overlooking or turning airline eye to dangerous situations. reporter: during three days, we watched this worker drink heavily before returning to the job site.

rolling as the carpenter downed five beers for lunch. right after, we spotted him chain saw in hand back at work. this worker is responsible for making sure heavy material lifted and lowered by the crane is secured. we saw him three days in a row, one day he had four beers in about 40 minutes and then back to rigging the crane loads. it all suggests the drinking workers have little fear of getting caught even though gillbane's policy is to immediately remove any employee under the influence of alcohol or drugs. >> site safety operators, where are they? what are they doing. >> put that camera down. reporter: we wanted to talk to you about. >> it doesn't matter. reporter: we were hoping to

americans. he will celebrate tomorrow with his brother. a google self-driving car experiment just took a hit. google says one of the self-driving cars was treat at least -- at least partially responsible for a collision with a city bus. the minor collision was in google's hometown of mountain view, california. google says the computer assumed the bus would yield when an obstacle appeared in front of the google car. the bus was going about 15 miles an hour, the car less than 5. no one was injured. glad no one was injured. let them work out the kinks. another problem plaguing a cruise ship. the anthem of the seas is headed home early because of another storm, but that's not the only issue passengers are dealing with.
