and friends. he claimed victory making the case that he is now the only republican candidate who can walk down donald trump. and while that was his statement, the mood in the room was less celebratory and more relief. i talked to i an fwlub of supporters is afterwards one gentleman telling me, yeah, we won two states. four would have been better. i don't see the matthau we can beat donald trump in the end. so at the end of super tuesday, the republican field will be just as crowded on wednesday with rubio saying look, wait for me. i can walk down trump once we get to florida. cruz making the case to you he's the only alternative but lots of republican who's we talked to here in texas are anxious. they believe that it may be too late for any other republican candidate to walk down donald trump. reena, kendis, back to you. >> thank you so much byron. let's get down to some analysis from what we've seen from voters. >> a short time ago, we spoke

>> we have looked for republican divisions. party is actually not divided. they're embracing donald trump. you see massachusetts and alabama and tennessee and arkansas and all these states regional diversity and ideological diversity inside of the party. the thing is if you judge a party by its voters, donald trump owns this party right now. >> a lot of ways busy is seen by many of his supporters as irreplaceable. it seems as if the tide is turning against him. >> that's right. clinton looks unstoppable right now and she began this campaign as someone who was the likely nominee. she was the presumed democratic nominee. now she's earned it. she had the scare in iowa. she took a huge hit in new hampshire. she's really come back now and tonight we see her sailing out of super tuesday with that strong lead that she's earned. >> and our political coverage is far from over. we're going to hear from insiders from the hillary clinton campaign after her political gains last night. that's later in this half hour.

involving two of the republican candidates starting with ted cruz. a judge in illinois has dismissed a lawsuit which claimed that cruz shouldn't be allowed on the ballot in that state because he wasn't born in the u.s. the case was thrown out on a technicality. attorney who fileded said he still is deciding whether to appeal. and a ruling from a court here in new york says a fraud lawsuit against donald trump can continue. the suit alleges that trump's former school for real estate investors called trump university was unlicensed. and defrauded students by having them enroll in increasingly expensive seminars. it seeks $40 million in restitution and damages for thousands of students. trump asked that the suit be dismissed. the court rejected the request. >> the showdown between apple and the head of the fbi. at issue whether the computer giant should comply with a judge's order to unlock an iphone owned by one of the san bernardino shooters. we get more now from abc's elizabeth hur.
