remembering two teenagers killed by an out of control car as we have exclusive new video the seconds leading up to the crash. we've learned new details about how fast that car was going when it hit 17-year-old brian rodriguez and 16-year-old noel herrera. >> tonight hundreds of people coming together to remember these young victims in north bergen, new jersey. carolina leid is there for us. >> even at this very late hour we're still seeing people, mourners here, showing upbringing candles, balloons, flowers, so many ways of remembering these victims. so many people saying and thinking about what could have been. >> reporter: brian rodriguez's mother said her 17-year-old son and his 16-year-old best friend

tears filled the eyes of many. many writing on balloons that they then released to the sky for a vigil for the victims. >> it's not going to be the same because they were both a good inspiration to all of us. >> reporter: 23-year-old eric patterson is charged with death by auto, speeding, and driving with a suspended license. this exclusive surveillance video shows a sedan running a red light about a block away seconds before the crash saturday night. investigators believe the suspect was doing more than 70 miles per hour in a 25-mile-per-hour zone. >> the car needed 26th street. it swerved to avoid cars stopped at the red light. it crossed over the southbound lanes and mounted the sidewalk, striking three teenagers. >> reporter: jorge rodriguez says too many young people drink and drive and these are the

his son and his friend sadly had to pay with their lives. a third teen, manny sanchez, is in the hospital after suffering a broken leg. >> there were people in my class that cried and they didn't know him at all. he was just a great person to be around. he made everybody smile and laugh. >> so many people remembering the smiles and the laughs they had with these young men. the driver, the suspect in this case, had 23 license suspensions. toxicology is still pending in this case. the suspect is being held in jail on $1 million bail. carolina leid, channel 7 eyewitness news. a developing story right now. police in rocklin county searching for a missing 10-year-old girl in the village of spring valley and cops say she may be in danger. kelly rivera pilco last seen this morning at her bus stop but

showed up at school. we've posted her photo at abc7ny, her facebook page as well if you want to take another look. new details in the search for a nurse missing for months after getting off work at bellevue hospital. 30-year-old mahfuza rahman from the bronx has not been seen since september 8th. today police removed evidence from her home including a computer. rahman's husband told coworkers she went back to bangladesh to care for her parents. tonight he's missing as well. >> they told me, watch my house because i've got to go to my country, bangladesh. i've never seen him after this. >> earlier today investigators dug up concrete in front of rahman's home. officers have been posted outside the home. at this point the matter is being called a missing persons case. also new at 11:00, weapons found in a public school campus.

and corkscrew discovered at ps95 in brooklyn. now the question, who brought them on it would have ended in disaster. we have new video tonight as a plane parachuted to safety on long island. a father and his daughter inside terrified but they survived. eyewitness news reporter josh einiger is in east farmingdale. >> they'd been visiting colleges in new england, 8 miles out from republican airport when their single engine suddenly failed and their plane fell from the sky. >> reporter: it's a life saving feature that makes the cirrus sr22 unique and you can see it in action over the weekend when the engine sputtered to a stop. its emergency parachute opened and helped guide it to a landing not necessarily soft but soft enough for louis obergh and his daughter.

>> reporter: but he must have considered it when he invested in the cirrus, a single-engine plane known for that parachute. obergh radioed for help when his engine cut out but it was up to him to save himself by deploying that chute. >> he went in to the midfield. >> reporter: the aircraft plopped down at an office park in hauppauge, fortunately missing any buildings. some questions about whether he'd ever fly again. >> we'll see. we'll it's a scary day. >> in the general aviation world, the sr22 is actually known as the plane with the parachute. new, it could cost you more than a half million dollars. this particular plane was 15 years old. it's not clear tonight why the engine failed but it is clear

we're live at republic airport in east farmingdale, josh einiger, channel 7 eyewitness news. a suspect who cops say went on a deadly rampage in queens is in critical condition tonight after being shot by police. james dillon is accused of slashing a woman in astoria sunday, then stabbing a store owner to death before setting a homeless man on fire. police shot and wounded two officers were hurt. he has eight prior arrests including the most recent for menacing. a gunfireing, hostage taking robber tonight on the run from police. the nypd releasing surveillance video of this robbery. happened on saturday. watch as the guy pulled a gun at a brooklyn bodega, demanded cash, grabbed a panicking customer, put him in a chokehold and fired his weapon. the robber got away with more than $400. fortunately nobody was hurt. he's a numbers guy and today the numbers didn't add up for former mayor michael bloomberg.

exploring a possible independent and self-financed run to the white house. mr. bloomberg believes if he ran, it might take votes away from clinton and lead to the election of donald trump or ted cruz. tomorrow will be another big day on the road to the white house. voters in several states will be casting their votes. latest polls putting hillary clinton and donald trump in the lead. for the democrats, primaries will be held in michigan and mississippi and the republicans will hold a caucus in hawaii and primaries in idaho, michigan, mississippi. ted cruz appearing in mississippi where he won the endorsement of the state's governor. john kasich focusing on the big ticket state of michigan. donald trump and marco rubio are looking to future big races. rubio is in florida tonight campaigning hard because polls have shown him trailing in his own home state. trump spent the day in north carolina. the focus in michigan for democrats bernie sanders and hillary clinton.

debate in flint last night and zigzagged across the state today ending in a town hall. we'll have results from tomorrow's caucus and primaries on eyewitness news at 11:00 and on abc7ny. funeral services in place tonight for former first lady nancy reagan. mrs. reagan will lie in repose at the ronald reagan presidential library on wednesday and thursday in southern california. her funeral, which will be closed to the public, just a thousand personally invited mourners will be held friday morning. representing the white house at the funeral, first lady michelle obama. $55 million, that award by a jury tonight for dancing with the stars cohost and sports reporter erin andrews in her lawsuit against a hotel for putting a stalker in the room next to her. andrews claimed the hotel shared the blame with the stalker after he booked a room next to hers then posted it online. jurors agreed. no labor agreement yet for

new at 11:00, you want amazing video? we have amazing video. a dramatic rescue of a driver in connecticut speeding right through a guardrail and in to the norwalk river. his car up side down. body cam video from one of the cops at the scene of the rescue. the 35-year-old driver is alive but thanks only to the heroic efforts of these first responders. here's eyewitness news reporter lucy yang. >> reporter: it was a dramatic rescue in norwalk, connecticut early sunday morning. police say a driver lost control near the intersection of main and wall streets. tore through a small park, plowed through a metal fence, then over the embankment. crash landing 15 feet below upside down in the norwalk river. first responders wasted no time. they braved the freezing fast moving waters. and found the driver still alive. >> it was excellent teamwork by

officers selfless entered that water. you'll see in the video the water is rushing out. all the windows in the vehicle were broken out. water was rushing in to the vehicle. >> reporter: this video is from one of the officers's body cam that shows how they got to the drive and how they saved his life. >> they had to scale down a 15-foot wall to get down to the stream level and then enter the water there. so again, it was really great work by all involved. >> reporter: police are now investigating this accident to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved. the driver has not been charged. we're told he was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. in norwalk, connecticut, lucy yang, channel 7 eyewitness news. a former swimming coach in westchester county is facing child pornography charges tonight. 35-year-old rhony sanchez allegedly had on his computer at his home in yonkers. sanchez used to teach swimming

the beach point yacht club. a woman was badly hurt but survived the boston marathon bombings, has died in a car crash overseas. northeastern university says 22-year-old victoria mcgrath and another student were killed. mcgrath seriously injured in the 2013 bombings. she was set to graduate this year. former pro wrestler hulk hogan due back on the stand tomorrow for his sex tape lawsuit against the website gawker. hogan suing gawker for $100 million. he says his privacy was invaded when the website posted video of him having sex with the wife of a friend. today hogan testified at first he didn't know his friend had recorded the encounter. new at 11:00, dad to the rescue at a baseball game when a bat goes flying in to the stand headed right to his son's face. check out the dramatic photos snapped during the heroic moments. the two were in the stands over

pirates outfielder danny ortiz lost his grip of the bat. it went flying in to the stands. fast reflexes kicked in so the father could protect his son. >> honestly i didn't have a whole lot of time to think about it. it was dad mode. protecting my son. i just did what i could. >> he's my hero. he's the most amazing dad ever. >> isn't that sweet? that's instinct for sure. the only injury dad got, a black and blue mark on his wrist. and father and son said this won't stop them from enjoying games in the future. here's the best part, they got to keep the bat. new and dramatic dashcam video of a garbage truck that didn't just crash, it flew over the guardrail on to miami highway and dropped 100 feet to a park below. amazingly the driver survived and no one on the ground was hurt. investigators are trying to figure out how the driver lost control of the truck. america's amazing videos tonight. >> everybody is okay. >> best dad ever.

>> it's really fantastic. and i'm really wondering if parts of the area can hit 80 degrees on thursday. it's going to be awful close across parts of the southern new jersey. tomorrow still a transition day. this evening it's been super comfortable. the wind was a little busy earlier. it's backed off. we're at 55 right now. westerly wind around 8. our average high is only in the upper 40s. that's going to be our nighttime temperatures the next several days. there are your sunrise and sunset times. weather headlines. mid 60s tomorrow. cooler along the coast. then we get our first march 70-degree day, wednesday, thursday, first time since 2012. records certainly within reach wednesday and thursday. temperatures take a step back and then, of course, the clocks actually spring ahead this weekend. this sunday the sunset will be at 7:00 and beginning of april we have 7:30 sun sets. so that's good news. but the numbers will step back

there will be a chill in the suburb. already at 35 in carmel. winds have gone north here. i think an onshore breeze will definitely keep us in check tomorrow in the mid 50s to mid 60s, at least near the coast, then away from the coast we have a shot at getting to 70 degrees tomorrow. see how the winds have gotten a lot lighter this afternoon. if you look closely, a light northerly wind as a front is straddling the area. winds are light and variable through midday. the clouds will start to thin out. i think we're at 61 by noon and probably low to mid 60s at 4:00 but along the coast we're in the 60s. inland, 70 degrees. then partly cloudy and west southwest winds come in tomorrow night. you can see the clouds coming in. a front sitting right to the north. also a couple showers over western pennsylvania. then maybe an isolated shower that can sneak in to the area tomorrow morning. most of us just have clouds. this is the last we'll see of this in to tomorrow. then that will move away. look at all the warmth in the

the middle of the week. door. upper 30s north and west. maybe a stray shower. fair amount of clouds mixing with sun. that will be the way through the middle of the day. 50s along the coast but mid 60s inland. then i think we have more sunshine to end the day. a big temperature range. upper 40s on the twin forks. yet it can be near 70 in places like trenton and between in the low and middle 60s. by wednesday we're all going in to a southwest wind. mild morning near our normal daytime highs and temperatures off to the races. low and middle 70s during the afternoon hours, even 60-degree readings near the coast. thursday should be our warmest. there's some rain upstate. but i think we're closer to the 70s to near 80 rather than the cooler temperatures to the north. more clouds and sun as we head toward sunrise. mild for march. we're in the mid and upper 40s. partly sunny and mild tomorrow. 70, west. 50s along the coast. look for a high in the mid 60s in new york city. partly cloudy and only down to

a heroic officer to the rescue, stuck inside a burning car. the california highway patrol officer happened to be driving behind this vehicle when he saw smoke and flames. the car pulled over. that's when he pulled out the first child who he handed to an adult. then he reaches in to the back seat to unlock the door and pull out another child. as for the video, it was shot by newspaper photographer who happened to be driving behind the officer. in tonight's health alert, a disturbing link between vitamin d deficiency and multiple sclerosis. a study showing women who had a vitamin d deficiency in the
