the water after a tug boat crashed into a construction barge. the body of a third person is still missing. officials say the tug boat has leaked about 5,000 gallons of diesel fuel into the river. reporter: sandra, just moments ago, officials announced this is no longer a recovery operation that it is simply too dangerous for crews to go back inside this tug boat which was damaged in the crash and remains under water. we're also learning more about the crew on board. harry hernandez is still missing. and 29 year old timothy cocklin. >> the last thing that they would think of is to get a call that their son or their

in an accident. reporter: today, this family, the congresslin's holding out hope as they huddle by the river, this morning, confirmation that timothy was dead. crews found his body inside the tug boat. the specialist remains submerged in about 40 feet of water. timothy was along the boat which along with two other vessels was guiding a barge along the river when they hit a second barge. timothy had a bad feeling about this trip. >> he felt the tides, the currents were strong. reporter: those strong currents have hampered this delicate operation. the ninety foot tug boat, its sitting in the main center channel.

during a brief period. >> divers mentioned there's about 6 inches of visibility. the current on top and underneath the water is significant. reporter: yesterday, rescuers recovered paul amans body. the third and final crew member, 56 year old harry hernandez is still missing . for the first time today, a picture of what it was like in those last few minutes before the specialist hit the barge. >> there are reports that there were radio transmissions from the tug on the right that said we are too close. we have to move left. . reporter: and again, right now, shifting from the recovery phase to the salvage phase. the company that owns the specialist will have thousand bring this tug boat up. in terms of the investigation,

going over radio transmissions and interviewing folks on the two remaining tug boats and the construction barge. . >> thank you, kimberly. stay with eyewitness news for the latest developments on this deadly tug boat crash. you can find updates and information at abc seven ny. a developing story right now, police in brooklyn are looking for a man who tried to rape a woman in her apartment building. police say this man approached the woman in her lobby in sun set park and put a knife to her neck. he grabbed her, removed her parents and sexually assaulted her and then took off. developing overseas work apparent terrorists attacks. first in turkey, a car bomb kilted at least 43 people and wounded 125 others.

couple more. anybody else want to stand up. reporter: the other candidates are left forming political alliances. marco rubio who is fighting for his political life in his own home state of florida is telling his supporters in ohio to go ahead for john kasich. ted cruz was on this week treading carefully, criticizing trump but not his voters. >> i understand the people that are voting for donald trump, that they're angry with washington, they're angry with politicians who have lied to us. i'm angry too, but donald has been e meshed in that washington corruption for 40 years. reporter: on the democratic side, there are almost 800 delegate votes to be decided on tuesday. bernie sanders hoping for another victory like in michigan. >> if there is a large voter turnout, we will win. reporter: however, the math is not in his favor. hillary clinton has a commanding lead.

a three alarm fire sends six people to the hospital, five of them firefighters. flames broke out just after 9:00 this morning in flushing. it took nearly 140 firefighters an hour to put that blaze out. the injured firefighters reportedly suffered electric shock. they were all taken to new york presbyterian hospital and are expected to recover. police also responded to a three alarm fire in brooklyn at a church. after about an hour, the fire was brought under control. four firefighter were treated at the scene for minor injuries. . new evening. french aviation officials calling for changes in an effort to prevent another depressed pilot from crashing a plane.

police say a group of people attacked the bouncer while he tried to break up a fight. the 43 year old went into cardiac arrest. a massachusetts catholic school under fire this evening after students started an antisemitic chant at a school basketball game. it began when students from newton high school made a joke about the all boys school. that prompted students at catholic memorial to begin chanting things like you killed jesus. >> chant you killed jesus brings it to another level. its antisemitic. i was shocked and appalled. reporter: the school's president says the behavior is unacceptable and has apologized.
