crying over this terrible loss. the fire was at 251 high street. that call came in at 5:30 this morning. you can tell by looking at what is left of that this house became fully engulfed with flames. orange firefighters got help battling the flames by neighboring departments. it took an hour to knock it down. shortly after a man believed to be in his 50s and a 2-year-old and 9-year-old boy were brought out. they gave us the information along with the names of the victims that we won't use but a cousin told us the home was the traditional family spot. >> this is where my family grew up, our home of 37 years. they disposition get a chance at life and -- they didn't get a chance at life. they're gone. this is our home. we've been here for 37 years. my grandmother owned this house. this is home. we have, this is home for us. >>reporter: once again, family and friends still at the scene,

them. we expect to get more information from the orange fire chief. it is still a very busy, active scene for firefighters as they're trying to get some of the hot spots out and of course, at this point we don't know the cause of the fire. we hope to speak to the fire chief later who can give us more information about the cause. we're live here in orange, new jersey, toni yates, channel 7, eyewitness news, back to you. also in new jersey we're following a developing story, a wild shooting on the streets of jersey city. injuries. michelle charlesworth is in jersey city with the story. >>reporter: this young woman, david, was chase and shot and killed in a car where she was trying to find safety early this morning around 7:30 here on monitor street in jersey city. the police are still looking for a gunman. this happened next to a six johnson and monitor.

the victim had been sitting in a white hyundai with the gunman. there was an apparent argument. she ran, he ran after her and she tried to seek help or shelter from a stranger sitting in the honda, the car removed from the scene with shut out windows the woman driver and the honda had nothing to do with this. she parked to head to work. connection. whatsoever. that woman was parking her car to go to work and the other girl was running from down the block, up the block, saw the woman in the car and went for help. that is how she got caught. >> she was trying to get help from the woman. >> they don't know each other. >>reporter: this shooting happened around 7:30 this morning. the woman was shot in that honda sitting next to the woman driver who had nothing to do with this. she was hit by flying glass, was otherwise unhurt. the gunman then ran back to the

. funeral services are under way for a new jersey state trooper who died after being hit with a car. 31-year-old shawn colin died after being hit by a car. he was hit by another vehicle after he stepped out of his cruiser. he is the third state trooper to months. the turkish carried out air strikes after a car bomb killed dozens of people. jets raided so called kurdish workers party locations in northern iraq. police carried out raids picturing suspected rebels. a car bomb in turkey's capitol killed 37 and injured more than 100 people.

nassau police are forming a task force to find ways to stop these crimes. statistics show a spike in street robberies and assaults while overall major crime is down. police in brooklyn are looking for the man who tried to rape a woman in the lobby of her sunset park apartment building. surveillance photos captured pretty clear images of the man police want to arrest. they say the woman was coming home from a date close to midnight on saturday. the man pressed a knife to the woman's throat and sefrmly molested her -- sexually molested her before running off. >> this is a mainly chinese community/jewish. it is sad it is happening here and it seems like they're targeting the people from this area. >> the 30-year-old victim was taken to the hospital, treated and released. she spent most of sunday night with detectives. her family is in a state of shock. they moved here 15 years ago from china. a new survey found new york city police officers are suffering from low morale. the pba conducted the survey of

fountains and faucets to be flushed each day in order to reduce the risk for contamination. upstate community struggling with contaminated water is taking important steps to address its problem. governor cuomo says preliminary tests show a temporary water filtration system is working. the governor visited for the first time since a chemical linked to cancer was found in the water supply. in december, they were told to stop drinking tap water after they detecte the state is looking into to the problem. three brothers are now in custody in connection with an unprovoked and deadly attack involving a police officer in maryland. investigators saturday gunman intended to die in the exchange. authorities say he opened fire on the first officer he saw outside the landover police station yesterday. he fatally shot undercover narcotics officer jacai colson.

the gunman, but, again, all three brothers are in custody. a man suspected of shooting two queens deli workers is dead. police say the gunman argued with the pair at mike's deli in ridge wood before opening fire and hurting them. more than an hour later, officers tried to pull the suspect over when they heard a gunshot. they found the man dead at the wheel. both of the deli employees are expected to be okay. france this morning taking steps to prevent another depressed pilot from crashing a plane. 150 people died when co-pilot andreas lubitz drove a plane into the french alps. now they want medical professionals to warn them when they could endanger people. it is not easy to balance patient's rights and safety. he had anti-depressants in his system and consulted several doctors.

sound down the jersey shore. here comes the wind at 16 to 21 miles an hour. that makes it feel chilly and then there is the rain coming up from south west to north east. that will continue. as long as this low keeps spinning up a shower here there, is another batch that will come our way. here you see, it looks like another low that spins up and off and through. we'll keep the shower activity and then overnight. 3/10th around newark and coming up on a half inch of rain and most of that rain will be here from coastal connecticut, long island, over in areas of new jersey, hudson river valley down in jersey shore. we have rain, you're out and about. 42, 45, 46 degrees and chilly. we'll in the morning and by the afternoon, we'll get bright skies, sunny breaks at times but the sun will return on wednesday. near 60 degrees. cloudy, windy, chilly periods of rain for the rest of the afternoon into tonight. then tonight it is breezy with rain. so you're out and about tonight.
