good evening at 11:00. i'm bill ritter. >> and i'm sade baderinwa. another stabbing in manhattan. this time it's deadly. >> happened on a street in harlem. what the victim did after this democrat is a bizarre part of the story. >> jim dolan at the scene with the breaking news. >> we just learned that the victim in this case, a 53-year-old man has died from his injuries. this is a frightening story. these two people had never met before. they were talking on a subway platform, got in to a dispute, one of them pulled a knife to settle it. it started at 116th street and the victim actually got on the train, got on the 2 train and headed down here to 110th street where he collapsed and where medics later found him. let's go to some video shot about 9:15 this evening, as the victim, a 53-year-old man was brought out of the subway station by medics, taken to harlem hospital in critical

since died from his injuries. police don't yet know what the dispute was about, what they were arguing about what the investigation has slowed trains and closed two train stations. no arrests yet in this case but police are investigating, trying to find people who witnessed this, but again, it's a subway. it's a train station. people are moving and in transition, very difficult to find people who actually witnessed this, especially since the victim himself got on the train and headed south one stop. one person is dead after being stabbed on a subway platform on 114th street, died here when he was taken to harlem hospital. for now reporting live, jim dolan, channel 7 eyewitness news. new tonight, angry parents over lead contaminated drinking water at their children's school. those parents facing school administrators tonight saying they let them down and compromised the health of their kids. this as new testing measures are

carolina in newark. >> testing starts tomorrow here in newark, and it starts at toddlers. the department of health starting with those young children because they're the most vulnerable because of their ages. that continues as parents here tonight at a school board meeting were just shaking their heads. >> reporter: parents and students were enraged, both outside and inside tonight's school board meeting in newark. many looking for answers about issue. in response to elevated lead levels found in some schools, free blood tests are available for some 17,000 children at the 30 affected schools. some field leaders past and present failed their children. >> i had to keep my kids home. i'm still having reservations as of today because it's not safe

>> i don't think it's fair we get to drink dirty water. >> reporter: last week newark public schools temporarily shut down water fountains. >> lead leads to all kinds of learning disabilities, cancer, leukemia, et cetera. we're very concerned about the health of our children. >> reporter: trying to avoid a panic, the superintendent explained anything over 15 parts per billion is a red flag. most schools came in around 100, with one at high as 558. the crisis in flint, michigan hit an astonishing 13,000 parts per billion. >> i absolutely believe that this is a matter of urgency and it is a matter in which the public, parents, and the community is entitled to know everything there is to know. >> so the question remains, what is causing this issue? the superintendent claims that it is not the water source here

aging infrastructure that the water is sitting in the pipes and in some cases leading to lead seeping in to that water but of course all of this still needs to be tested. reporting live in newark, carolina leid, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> a lot more to come on this story. he spent his career trying to carry on his dad's musical legacy but when your name is frank sinatra, jr., that's a mighty big shadow. 72-year-old frank sinatra, jr. died tonight. he was touring in florida when he went in to cardiac arrest. frank, jr. rarely saw his constantly touring dad. he was kidnapped when he was 19 from a casino in california. his dad paid quarter million dollars in ransom for his return. the younger sinatra born in jersey city, about 4 miles from where his famous dad was born. criminal charges tonight against a limo driver on long island who caused a horrible crash that left four young women dead. carlos pino charged with assault and negligent homicide. prosecutors say pino drove his

pickup truck last july while making a u-turn even though he could not see oncoming traffic. eight women were in the limo. four were killed. the driver of the pickup now charged with drunk driving. who tried to kill tyreta julius? first with eight bullets, and when that didn't do it, did that same person kidnap her? those searing questions asked tonight at an emotional vigil in new jersey. no one has seen her since last week. not her friends, not her family, not her two teenaged kids. they now fear the worst. josh einiger is in linden for us. >> someone tried to kill tyreta julius last november. the question is, did any foul play have a role in her disappearance last week? police say they don't know. her family says they don't know what to think except that they want her back.

church sanctuary tonight, they sang and they cried and they prayed. an entire congregation lifting up one of its families in what could be their darkest hour. >> it's just an uncomfortable feeling in your stomach, in the pit of your belly. all i know is we want her home. we want her back. >> reporter: julius vanished seemingly without a trace after a friend dropped her off at the long branch train station. lauren is her best friend. >> just a normal day. >> reporter: what makes this case even more abnormal, the violent attack julius endured just five months ago. in november she and her then 15-year-old daughter were in a car heading to a basketball game when a man opened fire. police never solved the case. she had only just recovered when she disappeared last week.

two cases have any connection at all. >> people are in pain already and it's difficult dealing with pain but god can help us even wh a situation of heartache and despair. the julius family, there was little to do but prachch community united in faith, which at this point is about all they have. >> tyreta, we love you. all your family, your friends, everyone, we all love you. we're just waiting for you to come home. >> police here in linden say they do not suspect any foul play at this point in the disappearance of tyreta last week. and there's nothing in her past that would shed any light on either case. right now there's a $10,000 reward for anyone who can help solve either of these mysterious cases. live in linden, new jersey, josh einiger, channel 7 eyewitness news. a supreme showdown unfolding tonight over president obama's

leaders have to accept the will of the voters. now to the democratic side. hillary clinton following her state primary wins is focusing on donald trump. she says the commander in chief needs to protect the country, not embarrass it. meanwhile, bernie sanders campaigns on even though the numbers are not that good. the vermont senator would need to win every remaining primary state by 36 points in order to clinch the nomination. two firsts for tomorrow's st. patrick's day parade in new york city. mayor de blasio will march for the first time since he's been in office. the mayor boycotted for two years because lgbt were not allowed to march but now they're allowing them to march. for a complete list of road changes because of the parade tomorrow, head to our website, abc7ny. some wild weather in parts of our area tonight as fast moving storms move through.

eyewitness news reporter jim dolan has more. >> stay off my property. >> reporter: someone at the home of kenneth miley threatened reporters who were gathered there with a garbage can on wednesday night. miley's grandson took a gun, this loaded 9 millimeter handgun which police say he found between the cushions of miley's sofa to ps40 on tuesday. >> you have a loaded gun. do you care to talk about that at all? >> that's kind of rough, even how he was able to get ahold of it's a bad thing. >> reporter: police say the 11-year-old student got in to a fight with another student at school on monday. on tuesday he was found with the loaded .9 millimeter in his backpack. school security officers say they often see weapons at high schools. >> they remove stun guns. they remove bb guns. they remove metal knuckles. they remove box cutters. they remove tasers.

they remove steak knives. you name it. >> reporter: at a grammar school like ps40, it's rare. parents today were stunned and angry, mostly with the family of the child that had a gun so readily available. >> lock him under the jail. there's no way in the world -- that's negligence. >> any one of these kids could have killed. my 4-year-old could pull the trigger. any one of them's lives were put in danger. a teacher's markmanship around the company is bringing gun safety to schools. the revolutionary war veterans association organized a three-day gun seminar. the group believes guns are an important part of u.s. history and students should be taught about them. >> we're teaching them about the firearms so they're familiar with them, they can be safe with them. >> after handling and practices

on the third day the students go to a gun range to shoot loaded guns. new at 11:00, they became famous for their exploits in outer space but soon they'll be memorialized for all time at a school in new jersey. twin astronauts mark and scott kelly, proud pleasantdale west elementary. they'll jointly create a name to honor the sibling astronauts. it was my honor to lead a discussion at the united nations today on gender equality, women's leadership, and pay equity. world leaders and nongovernmental agencies gathered to discuss ways to address these critical issues. it began with the prime minister of canada, a self-described feminist, along with the executive director of u.n. women. each highlight steps they've taken to accelerate gains for gender equality. such an important issue. >> good crowd there.

>> congratulations to you. >> thank you. so you're tracking some storms. >> a couple storms. these will be gone by morning. but what a show across the hudson valley. we saw incredible pictures earlier. watch the spiral there on one world trade. that's what it's supposed to do, attract those lightning strikes so it doesn't reach the ground. one world trade quiet now. no showers imminent in new york city. we're at 50. still fairly mild out. lower 60s still within reach tomorrow which would be about 12, 13 above average. light rainfall amounts. it was really about brief, heavy downpours and lightning. there are your sunrise and sunset times for a pretty nice st. patrick's day. one more mild day. i think there could be a passing shower for the parade. a small chance at 1:00. better chance later in the parade. have your umbrella. it is nice and mild. it becomes colder on friday, around 50. a gusty breeze.

then below freezing at night. that will set the stage for a cold weekend. in fact chilly for the new york city half marathon. 44 and sun on saturday. looks like it's cloudy sunday morning then rain could mix with wet snow during the afternoon hours. only 42. spring snow a possibility. more on that in just a moment. there's the line going through earlier. then there's a second batch. this has really flared up over the past 15 minutes or so over putnam and duchess and ulster county. it's right near newburg. seems to be diving a little bit more north toward danbury. lots of heavy downpours with that. one more line behind it. that will go away, will quiet down. still more lines. that big low will spin through another line of showers tomorrow afternoon. couple of those could have heavy downpours. not as much thunder and lightning. after that the whole system collapses down in the northeast. that unleashes colder air for the upcoming weekend setting the

watch the futurecast here. partly to mostly sunny tomorrow morning. generally in the 40s. little chill in the air. nice in the afternoon, low 60s. stray shower early afternoon but more likely toward the evening commute. maybe a replay of what we saw today but a little less ferocious. scattered showers can last in to tomorrow evening then cooler air for friday. partly to mostly cloudy. tomorrow is up to 63. sun and clouds. it is becoming breezy during the day. a passing shower. then tomorrow night it's partly cloudy and 44. here's your 7-day. only 53 on friday and that feels like 40s with the breeze. a shower in the afternoon. 29 at night. 44, sun on saturday. here's the latest with the storm threat on sunday. these storm tracks, all of them are still on the table. a closer track where it goes rain to wet snow, right now i'm leading toward that track that's closer to the coast. meaning we get a chilly rain that develops sunday afternoon

it's not your ru o mill accident. it was quite an unusual crash. an suv came to rest on top of a parked car in baltimore yesterday. the suv was hit from behind by another vehicle, causing it to go airborne with three people inside. all of them survived this
