good evening at 11:00. i'm bill ritter. >> and i'm sade baderinwa. another stabbing in manhattan. this time it's deadly. >> happened on a street in harlem. what the victim did after this democrat is a bizarre part of the story. >> jim dolan at the scene with the breaking news. >> we just learned that the victim in this case, a 53-year-old man has died from his injuries. this is a frightening story. these two people had never met before. they were talking on a subway platform, got in to a dispute, one of them pulled a knife to settle it. it started at 116th street and the victim actually got on the train, got on the 2 train and headed down here to 110th street where he collapsed and where medics later found him. let's go to some video shot about 9:15 this evening, as the victim, a 53-year-old man was brought out of the subway station by medics, taken to harlem hospital in critical

since died from his injuries. police don't yet know what the dispute was about, what they were arguing about what the investigation has slowed trains and closed two train stations. no arrests yet in this case but police are investigating, trying to find people who witnessed this, but again, it's a subway. it's a train station. people are moving and in transition, very difficult to find people who actually witnessed this, especially since the victim himself got on the train and headed south one stop. one person is dead after being stabbed on a subway platform on 114th street, died here when he was taken to harlem hospital. for now reporting live, jim dolan, channel 7 eyewitness news. new tonight, angry parents over lead contaminated drinking water at their children's school. those parents facing school administrators tonight saying they let them down and compromised the health of their kids. this as new testing measures are

carolina in newark. >> testing starts tomorrow here in newark, and it starts at toddlers. the department of health starting with those young children because they're the most vulnerable because of their ages. that continues as parents here tonight at a school board meeting were just shaking their heads. >> reporter: parents and students were enraged, both outside and inside tonight's school board meeting in newark. many looking for answers about issue. in response to elevated lead levels found in some schools, free blood tests are available for some 17,000 children at the 30 affected schools. some field leaders past and present failed their children. >> i had to keep my kids home. i'm still having reservations as of today because it's not safe

>> i don't think it's fair we get to drink dirty water. >> reporter: last week newark public schools temporarily shut down water fountains. >> lead leads to all kinds of learning disabilities, cancer, leukemia, et cetera. we're very concerned about the health of our children. >> reporter: trying to avoid a panic, the superintendent explained anything over 15 parts per billion is a red flag. most schools came in around 100, with one at high as 558. the crisis in flint, michigan hit an astonishing 13,000 parts per billion. >> i absolutely believe that this is a matter of urgency and it is a matter in which the public, parents, and the community is entitled to know everything there is to know. >> so the question remains, what is causing this issue? the superintendent claims that it is not the water source here

pickup truck last july while making a u-turn even though he could not see oncoming traffic. eight women were in the limo. four were killed. the driver of the pickup now charged with drunk driving. who tried to kill tyreta julius? first with eight bullets, and when that didn't do it, did that same person kidnap her? those searing questions asked tonight at an emotional vigil in new jersey. no one has seen her since last week. not her friends, not her family, not her two teenaged kids. they now fear the worst. josh einiger is in linden for us. >> someone tried to kill tyreta julius last november. the question is, did any foul play have a role in her disappearance last week? police say they don't know. her family says they don't know what to think except that they want her back.

church sanctuary tonight, they sang and they cried and they prayed. an entire congregation lifting up one of its families in what could be their darkest hour. >> it's just an uncomfortable feeling in your stomach, in the pit of your belly. all i know is we want her home. we want her back. >> reporter: julius vanished seemingly without a trace after a friend dropped her off at the long branch train station. lauren is her best friend. >> just a normal day. >> reporter: what makes this case even more abnormal, the violent attack julius endured just five months ago. in november she and her then 15-year-old daughter were in a car heading to a basketball game when a man opened fire. police never solved the case. she had only just recovered when she disappeared last week.

they remove steak knives. you name it. >> reporter: at a grammar school like ps40, it's rare. parents today were stunned and angry, mostly with the family of the child that had a gun so readily available. >> lock him under the jail. there's no way in the world -- that's negligence. >> any one of these kids could have killed. my 4-year-old could pull the trigger. any one of them's lives were put in danger. a teacher's markmanship around the company is bringing gun safety to schools. the revolutionary war veterans association organized a three-day gun seminar. the group believes guns are an important part of u.s. history and students should be taught about them. >> we're teaching them about the firearms so they're familiar with them, they can be safe with them. >> after handling and practices
