this black suv. it is still unclear what lead to this officer's death. multiple unmarked cars are parked outside of the old cinemas where the middlesex county's prosecutor's office say an off-duty police officer was found dead in the parking lot this morning. >> there was a report this morning calling in of located here. police responded. at this time we identified there is a victim of one male police officer with the police department who has died from gunshot wounds. >> reporter: a source says the off-duty nine year veteran of the force works in an undercover capacity and was not in a marked car. >> at this point the prosecutor's office will be taking lead of the investigation along with the police department. we'll hopefully have more some time soon. >> reporter: we expect an update this afternoon.

on the upper west side and the sun is peeking through with blue showing up. nice skies will dominate the rest of the afternoon. 44 degrees with a wind chill right now in the 30s. we had a few 20-degree wind chills early on this morning. now we are taking ten degrees off the thermometer readings. the winds will be brisk from the northwest. that will make it feel chilly but being in the sunshine will be better than being in the shade. you'll get the direct sunlight temperatures will be pushing upper 30s to 40 degrees. look for the temperatures to warm up nicely. however, the head line this week is the major temperature climb coming midweek. tomorrow we improve more. wednesday we have our eyes on. we'll have those details coming up in the seven-day forecast in a few minutes. while it might not have been a perfect first monday of spring, i think you'll like the numbers for the rest of the forecast down the stretch.

investigators found more than 30 people involved in the paris attacks. police say they are sure there are more out there. a russian aviation official is pessimistic about the badly damaged data and voice recorders that crashed over the weekend. today they got preliminary information from the recordings but getting it all could take at least a month. the plane crashed and exploded in russia on saturday killing everyone on board. north korea fires five short range projectiles into the waters off the east coast. firings are a response to on- going south korean and u.s. military drills which the north sees as a provocation. the military is trying to determine if the projectiles were missiles, artillery shells or rockets.

here are the winds 20 to 25 miles per hour from the northwest. it is a cold, dry wind. as high pressure builds offshore. we'll continue to see some improvements starting tomorrow. temperatures going up even warmer. southerly influence will take over midweek. on the radar and satellite storms are out of here for now. tomorrow we barely get a few clouds. high, thin clouds through the afternoon. then we see major improvements coming our way for wednesday. we get the influence of the southerly breeze. if you watch these numbers we are in the upper 50s today. during the nighttime hours we'll go back in the 30s. we crank it up past 50 tomorrow afternoon. wednesday temperatures make it above 65 degrees. closer and closer to 70 is what the computer models are trending towards. we have temperatures in the upper 40s this afternoon. going down to 34. by the way, the full moon is here's your seven-day forecast. study the numbers. when you are out here on the

frightening and terrible crash between two race car drivers caught on camera during an event in australia. the crash happened during the australian grandprix. 34-year-old alexia lorenzo hit the back of another car. from inside the car it is as dramatic as you can imagine. the car making the turn suddenly lost control. sorry, we don't have the video to show you. he did climb out of the wreck in one piece. we apologize not having the video. some criminals risk going to jail for money. this guy in las vegas got arrested over snack food. suspect walked into a convenience store, filled a tray of nachos and walked out without paying. well, the clerk was not having that. he confronted the guy. the men got into a fight. suspect took out a gun. chased the clerk back inside

off-duty police officer was found dead of a gunshot wound this morning. the body was found in a parking lot in a secluded area near a movie theater. sources say the officer worked in an undercover capacity. police have not released details on what lead to his death. president obama meeting

crazy during this fight she had to corral the scared, crying children into her store. today it was all smiles at the easter display. not the same thing last night. this is a far cry from the floppy ear front and center in this cell phone video. one witness told me it was pure chaos when a fight broke out sunday evening. things got so intense between the 22-year-old unidentified bunny and a father of a 1-year- old child that mall security and police had to get involved. authorities say around 5:00 according to the costumed creature that parent verbally and physically attacked him after the dad's little girl slipped from the chair after she had her picture taken. police at this point are investigating trying to sort out exactly who did what. both the bunny and that parent

a suspect in a slashing attack in brooklyn now in custody. police arrested the 23-year-old chris alfred. he is suspected of cutting the throat of a 53-year-old woman in the park last week. the victim did survive the random attack. she did need 13 stitches. outrage in the tennis world after comments from the director of one of the most popular tennis tournaments. he said pro tennis is all about the men. they carry the sport. that's drawing fire from stars like serena williams. >> reporter: these comments now sending shock waves through the world of tennis. >> in my next life when i come back i want to be someone in the wta. they ride on the coat tails of the men. if i was a lady player i would go down every night on my knees and thank god roger federer was born.

hacker reportedly stole private photos of the adele and posted them online. images one taken during adele's pregnancy. they show an ultrasound scan of her son when he was a newborn. he is now three years old. son claims the fan saw the pictures and alerted adele's management team. >> adele is a very private person. she works hard to keep her private life private. this was a major shock for her.

>> we are fortunate nobody else got hurt. >> that's the amazing. think about teenagers just learning how to drive a car. this was a young man who was flying without an engine working properly. let's check on the forecast. bill evans. she still has the coat on. >> wind chills still a factor despite the sunshine. i look around and say the chill has not slowed down the lunch crowd here on the upper west people are out and about but bundled up in their coats. a lot of people with scarves, gloves and hats because despite temperatures in the mid 40s wind chill factor feels like it is in the 30s. that's what you'll contend with for the rest of the afternoon. this first monday of spring was rough with snow and freezing temperatures.

44 at long island. temperatures are already in the mid 40s. newark up to 48. temperatures are only part of the story. even with the sunshine breaking through all afternoon a high of 49 degrees equates to feels- like temperatures in the upper 30s. we feel like 36 in the city. feels-like 32 in white plains. feels-like 35 for bellmar. winds settle down late tonight. it is still breezy tomorrow. gusts 30 miles per hour from the northwest. that will take your breathe away and get your attention. storms are out of here. we clear out so nicely tonight. it is going to be beautiful. moonlit the moon will be full on the 3rd. tomorrow we'll start with sunshine. then a thin layer of clouds coming in late afternoon. you can see it on future cast. we'll scoot those out of here.

surge of warm air coming in from the southwest. that will pump our temperatures into the upper 60s. that sounds like spring. no major storms. 20s for the suburbs. on long island where they got a few inches of snow temperatures will be below freezing. watch out for slick spots where the snow may have melted. seven-day forecast 67 on wednesday is the warmest day of the stretch. first full week of spring decent. 63 friday. 58 on saturday. this holiday weekend featuring easter sunday with a high of 52 degrees. that's the forecast for now. as we go throughout the afternoon the main concern is the wind chill. make sure you are bundled up. it is hard to believe you could be in short sleeves by wednesday. that sounds nice.
