fleischer is at the scene with the latest. >> certainly a frightening accident involving this bus. six have refused medical treatment but three people have been taken to the hospital. this is the bus that came off of the northbound exit of the fdr, came off at 34th street, then for some unexplained reason the driver lost control, drove up on this abutment, then slammed in to this pillar. a total of nine people onboard were injured in this. one man was trapped inside. the fdny treated all those injuries. they even had had to extricate several of the people out an emergency exit on the side. here's what the fdny is saying about the one man who was trapped inside. >> we had had one person who had to be extricated from the bus. during the accident he hit the seat in front of him, was experiencing chest pains and so

to stabilize him, package him, and carry him off the bus and transport him to the hospital. >> my knee is banged up. my face is banged up too. and my phone went flying. thank god i didn't go flying. i was tilting but i was okay. could have been a lot worse. >> one of the passengers onboard the bus thought the bus was actually going just a bit too fast as it came around what is a curve as you come off that exit on to the service road. police have not determined what is the cause of this accident at this point. the driver was injured but not seriously. certainly they'll be talking to him, trying to find out what actually happened as this bus accident unfolded. tim fleischer, channel 7 eyewitness news. now to that funeral home mixup, putting the wrong body in the casket. >> amazing it wasn't discovered

some family members of the dead woman, val jean mcdonald said in the casket. >> but they went on with the funeral anyway. who was in the casket? michelle charlesworth in the woodlawn section of the bronx with this very disturbing story. about tonight. the grandchildren, 6 and 10 her. the adults were so embarrassed that they didn't know until cremation. they admit the woman they kissed in the casket looked a lot like their mother. plus she was wearing her clothing and jewelry and she had been terribly sick for a long time. and they, to be honest, could barely see from crying. >> horrible to hear that that woman is not your mother. but she had a proper burial. but it wasn't our mother. that's the problem.

leroy are two of her sons. at 81, their dear mother died of christmas. the body they said goodbye to and kissed and had cremated was not their mother. the funeral home called to tell them of the mistake. >> she has your mother's clothes on and jewelry, right? >> eyes full of tears. when we walked in there before you even step up to the -- >> i started screaming. >> reporter: mccall's bronxwood investigation. we asked for a comment and received the following statement. we've expressed to the affected families our acute distress and sorrow over this occurrence and we are reimbursing the mcdonald's for all costs. that reimbursement was news to the family when we called them back, and also something they never even asked for. their brother, who was returning to australia, was the first to see their actual mother. >> he went by there and he seen my mother laying out on a slab under the sheet. he said yep, this is mom. so the lady that we had had our

mother. >> what was your reaction? >> reporter: all the time from the moment they saw her, the grandchildren knew the truth. they insisted that was not her. listen to what a 10-year-old said. >> he came up and said, that don't look like grandma. >> they're not holding back. >> we didn't really truly say goodbye to our mom like we wanted to. she didn't deserve that. >> it was five days after the funeral that the family says the funeral home reached out to them to say please come here and see to say please come here and see if this is your mother and told them about the mixup. what about the other family, the spokesperson for the funeral home will only tell us they have not been identified, won't be, and they were never charged any money for this mixup. and so therefore will not be reimbursed. so sad. michelle charlesworth, channel 7 eyewitness news. so many unanswered questions

found dead in a parking lot in new jersey. the man was discovered outside the old amboy cinemas. this was in sayreville. they say he suffered gunshot wounds that they know but no word on the circumstances that led to this shooting. the nation's two largest fantasy sports websites tonight agreeing to stop taking paid bets in new york, at least for draftkings and fanduel have stopped trying to overturn the order from the new york state attorney general to stop taking wages. the ag argues the sites let people gamble and therefore are illegal. fireworks during the second day of president obama's historic visit to cuba. the president began a joint press conference with raul castro. the men sparred over human rights and the u.s. economic embargo. castro became defensive when the topic of political prisoners came up. abc news has learned 304 people

influential pro-israel lobbying group that donald trump's position on peace in the middle east is a moving and vacillating object. mr. trump countering that. he's about to speak to the group. dave evans is here with the latest. >> the frontrunners for the democrats and republicans today looked ahead to the fall election. donald trump predicting he'll surpass the required number of republican delegates needed, 1237, so he said there won't be any need for a brokered convention this summer. then he took aim at hillary clinton after she blasted him for violence at his rallies and what he's said about dealing with israel. >> reporter: in today's speech before a pro-israel committee, hillary clinton never mentioned him by name but she blasted donald trump for once saying he'd like to be neutral on israeli-palestinian negotiations. >> yes, we need steady hands, not a president who says he's neutral on monday, pro-israel on tuesday, and who knows what on wednesday because everything is negotiable.

back at clinton, saying she doesn't know what she's talking about. >> her policies obviously doesn't work. all you have to do is look at libya. >> reporter: trump was in dc today for a private meeting with several republicans, including former house speaker newt gingrich. many party members are disturbed by violent confrontations like this one in tucson over the weekend at a trump rally. today trump was making no apologies. >> these are professional agitators. they block the road. they use foul language. they put up signs using the f-bomb and all sorts of words that are horrible. these are not good people. >> reporter: that demonstrator who was attacked in tucson said trump is trying to divide the country. >> i think donald trump is trying to create a million little americas. all of us fighting each other. i don't want that. i like america as one big crazy melting pot place. >> reporter: tonight after trump, ted cruz will speak and

clinton in her speech today was already looking ahead to the fall election against donald trump. >> if you see bigotry, oppose it. if you see violence, condemn it. if you see a bully, stand up to him. >> the next primaries are out west tomorrow. idaho, utah, and arizona. trump is expected to do well in arizona but marco rubio is campaigning hard for cruz in utah. bernie sanders who is the only jewish candidate is the only presidential copied not -- presidential candidate not speaking to apec. he is out campaigning. a wild fight at the mall involving a dad and -- wait for it -- an easter bunny. an easter bunny. did i say that? wait till you hear why. >> and the home in our area that once belonged to yankee great lou gehri and the price can be just right for any buyer.

fight with a parent at a mall in new jersey. >> see a man in the bunny suit. the top half was off, his mask was off but everything else was on fighting i'm assuming a parent. >> that's the video right there. shocked spectators took this video of a man dressed as the bunny and the father of a 1-year-old girl fighting in the newport center mall in jersey city yesterday. it started when the girl accidentally slipped off the bunny's lap while taking an easter photo. both men are charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. ironically the man who dressed as the bunny also has a warrant for fare hopping. no pun intended. the house we're about to take you in to is not your everyday abode. >> not by a long shot. it is the house in new rochelle once bought by yankee legend lou gehrig. and talk about a bargain. it's well below market value.

a very special one. here's eyewitness news reporter joe torres. >> it needs a lot of work. needs about 40 windows. you have some electrical problems. >> reporter: jimmy doesn't have the money needed to fix up his new rochelle home. it's not just any home. the four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath house once belonged to yankee hall of famer lou gehrig. it's now up for sale for $400,000. that's $80,000 less than what he paid for it in 2008. he hopes some yankee fan will come to his rescue. >> if you'd pay like $100,000 for a jersey, wouldn't somebody go to buy this house and restore it? >> reporter: the legendary 1st baseman, nicknamed the iron horse for a 14-year streak of 2,130 consecutive games played, died in 1941 of als, which later became known as lou gehrig's disease.

as we headed to the break. here's some new jersey snowfall. highest in monmouth and ocean county. once you get to west orange or ridgewood, less than an inch of snowfall. danbury and -- excuse me. 3 inches. and new canen coming in under 3 inches. wilton, connecticut at 2 inches. we've got a cold night ahead. wind chills in the 20s. a shot at 70 midweek. and then we have a soggy start to friday. the weekend is looking dry. here's the long range outlook. sunshine on saturday. about 52. and 58 on easter sunday. not all that bad. our numbers right now are generally in the 40s. only in the 30s in monticello. couple flurries in the catskills. wind gusts are over 30 miles per hour. winds will stay up over the early evening hours. breeze is with us through tomorrow. sunshine, temperatures getting in to the mid 50s by the end of the day. mid 40s at noon. there are the clouds rolling in to the catskills.

less than two weeks from now. mets moving full steam ahead toward baseball's regular season. jacob degrom against the marlins tuning up for the games in just a couple weeks. degrom goes today. consistently in the low 90s. degrom said he was happy with his day. scoring came late. miami's robert andino scores 3rd base. kevin plawecki's throw flies. mets fall 2-1. david wright 0-3 with a strike. degrom's e.r.a. this spring, .90. the big exhibition game on the schedule tomorrow is in havana, cuba. the tampa bay rays play the cuban national game. first game there for an american team since the orioles visited in 1999. rays in cuba at the stadium today. timing is not a coincidence here. president obama's visit there.

i think between the countries, whether it's location, language, political views. but the one thing that is a common thread is we speak the same language of baseball. >> i may not understand the language but the one thing i did understand was the language of baseball which i feel is like a religion here in cuba. so how's your bracket? the ncaa men's basketball tournament rolls on later this week with the sweet 16 after that heck of a weekend. we won't recap everything but some of the finishes were really something. wisconsin and xavier, badgers sharp shooter bronson hit not one but two 3-pointers in the closing seconds. wisconsin edged xavier 66-63 to advance. the other biggy was texas a&m out lasting northern iowa in double overtime. aggies were losing by 10 points with less than 30 seconds to play in regulation. came back to force overtime. then double overtime. then they won the game. 92-88 to cap off the wild weekend.

hockey. the islanders at home against the flyers. the rangers take on the panthers in a game that has huge playoff implications. laura behnke looks ahead at today's big face-off. >> reporter: 10 games to go, the rangers are officially in the stretch run with less than three weeks to go to solidify their postseason standing. >> some teams are fighting for their lives and we're one of those teams. like i said, we're trying to establish ourselves in a good position to make the playoffs. we've had flashes of it where we look like the team we know we can be. i think we've got to find consistency. >> reporter: the rangers are tied with the penguins for second in the metropolitan division, 3 points ahead of the islanders. >> we're in good shape. we've got our destiny in our own hands as far as getting in to the playoffs, as far as home ice advantage. it's a matter of us going out and executing. >> the rangers have been a far more successful home team this season so the good news for the blue shirts, seven of these last garden.
